Looks like he's gonna be our deeper lying midfielder now but perhaps he was just cautious today. He's going to be great for us, not a fan of those wigs mind. Big, strong and he will free up Carrick a bit I feel.

What a reception he got.
Good to see.. According to the Caf he's shit..
It was one thing for him to step out at Old Trafford as a United player, but to receive that reception on top of it must have been out of this world.
I liked the fact that he immediately gave a couple of make-no-mistake instructions to the likes of Carrick and Rooney, telling them where to pass the ball after giving it to them.
I was very impressed today. Promising debut, we will need him next week.
Give him larger shorts & socks please.
My thoughts on his debut:
Difficult to take much from it, but it seemed like he played the deeper of him and Carrick. Kept things simple, moved the ball efficiently and tidy around, good in the air, composed and also won the ball strongly a couple of times. One excellent long ball out to Valencia, while he missed the one through ball he attempted. Overall I thought he was encouraging, wanted the ball and took responsibility. Difficult to judge as I say against 10 man Palace, but he did was what needed today.

No coincidence that when he came on and Anderson went off, we controlled the game comfortably.
Notably it allowed our attack to concentrate on fecking up the opposition, rather than worrying about who they had to track back.

Did very well and was productive during his spell, I think it would now be a good idea to throw caution to the wind and throw him against City to see how he fares for us in a big match. He has the confidence in his game to handle that clearly.

Match comp will be available in an hour or so. I didn't rate his performance on first sight, but when I watched the game again, it's clear that he changed the complexion of our midfield. We had a robust player who didn't lose out on a single aerial duel (defensively). He picked out a couple of great passes - two that stand out: pass to Januzaj between the lines to break Crystal Palace's midfield and the second pass was from a central position all the way to the right to Valencia. Similar performance to that of his Norwich one. Great reception for him, too.
Forget his passing, it is his ability to just carry the ball and not rush which was the most pleasing thing today.

I didn't have the patience to log on here last night to see what shit might have been written about him, but I was pleasantly surprised when I logged on today. There are still some numpties that can't resist criticising something, but its not surprising considering some of the IQ's that linger in here.

Lets not forget he played against a weak team that was sitting back with 10 men, lets wait till we see him against a strong midfield.
He had a great debut. Nothing that I didn't expect though.

We'll see what he's really made of on Tuesday I think. He's got the sort of grit we've been missing in Europe these last few years but he's very inexperienced there. Always a good test to see if a player can make the step up.
He might be inexperienced in Europe, but I think his international experience probably covers that. Also, he'll be playing in a very experienced team with hundreds of European caps all around him. Wouldn't worry at all about it.

I don't think a Champions League group game is such a great step up. There are at least five teams that are at least as good as Leverkusen in the Premier League and they don't offer any tactical novelty that Fellaini might never have encountered before.
The knockout stages, with more pressure and better sides, will be the real test, apart from the games against the other title challengers in the PL.
And, if we get to the quarters I reckon this season in Europe will have been considered a relative success. That'll have given him 10 potential games this year which will set us in really good stead for next year.
I think City in the last two seasons have proven that Europe is an entirely different kettle of fish to the PL, regardless of opposition.
We would have struggled in City's group last year also IMHO.
He's a good player and could be a great player for United. I think that's what United needed too. We needed fresh blood in the middle, someone who can compete and play the ball. It was an easy debut but then again, he's played in the premiership for 5 years. He was playing in front of a big crowd and didn't do anything wrong. In time he will also get better, but that's like saying he's got hair on his head
