Apart from potentially falling 10 points behind Arsenal after just 7 games? We need a run of 8 or 9 straight wins starting from now.

I agree, we can't afford anymore feck ups if we want to seriously defend our title. We need to go on a run, get a few wins under our belt, build confidence and form.

I'll be happy with a draw to be fair, Sunderland is a tough place to go and they're going through a managerial change which will put a lot of faith and spirit into their players. They have some talent in their squad as well so in the end a 1-1 wouldn't exactly be a bad result there.

There is no way I would be happy with a draw, Sunderland have 0 wins and only one draw out of 6 games.
A draw would be a dreadful result.

Go strong for this one, give the players time to gel and build momentum.

Would go DDG, rafael, Evans, vidic, evra, carrick, fellaini, nani Rooney, kagawa, Rvp.

If Rooney isn't fit bring kagawa central, Valencia or welbeck wide. Young hasn't played in a bit though so could see him starting, hope not though, should be 6th choice out wide for me atm. Would rather play either players who are better than him or players that can be better than him with time ie januzaj. Maybe a risk but only gonna find out by giving it a go,

Sunderland haven't been playing that poorly to be honest. Well, much better than last season anyway. This will be a tough game for us.

---------DDG--------------
Rafael-Smalling-Vidic-Fabio/Evra
------Jones-Ando------
Valencia-----Kagawa-----Rooney/Nani
------------RvP------------

Roo if fit can also chip in goals from out wide and in this way we can get the best out of Shinji. Jones in midfield with Carrick and Fellaini as subs.

We should definitely not start with Young!

I can't believe what I'm reading.

A draw against Sunderland good?

What's next? a 3-0 loss against barca good?
I think that the game at sunderland is a must win. anything less will be not well received.
having said that, i don't think i will be going mental if we lose 3-0 to barca

Must win game. Crazy to be saying that in early October. Like on Wednesday, I don't really care about the quality of the performance that much. It's just important to get back to winning ways quickly, so even if it's ground out and ugly I just want to see a solid, resilient and determined United. Our wins last season weren't all pretty we just refused to take no for an answer even when we went a couple of goals behind, that self belief was vital and we need to see it again.

I'd love to see Carrick just behind Cleverley and Kagawa in a midfield three, and Nani deserves to be put back in the team.

Rafael - Evans - Vidic - Evra
Carrick
Kagawa -- Cleverley
Nani - RvP - Welbeck

We're going to win this comfortably, just calm down everyone.

Need to win this game, steady the ship and start off a nice string of wins

Sarni is taking the piss here, I don't know why anyone is taking what he says (in this thread) seriously

Anything else but a win would be dreadful, Sunderland are absolutely fecking useless.

It wouldn't be a disaster by any means. They're a decent side, they've been off form this season but I struggle to recall a time when a visit over there would be easy. We struggled there in each of the last 3 seasons, City have lost there twice in a row recently.

It will be a terrible result, but as long as we make a shot in a goal, people will start making threads how good we were and point the fact that there was a case when we got a single point against them even with SAF in charge.

This needs to be a goal fest of an unprecedented scale, to restore confidence. Sadly, I cannot see us scoring any more than two, probably from set pieces.

I won't be able to watch the game - which automatically makes me feel less confidence for a bizarre reason that cleary doesn't make any logical sense.

I thought we'd win in Ukraine and feck-it-up in Sunderland.... we didn't win in Ukraine, so a win in Sunderland?

Kagawa shouldn't be starting in the hole for me, I think due to smalling and Jones being in the England squad, he doesn't need to get them minutes at the moment so I think it will be something like this:

DDG
Rafael Evans Vidic Fabio
Fellaini Carrick Cleverley
Nani RVP Rooney

But we did. We drew to them at home in 2006 when they were bottom of the league with the worst record any PL team had ever had (beaten by Derby a couple of seasons later). It's a tricky game, as I said City have lost there twice in a row and some other great sides struggled there in recent years.

Whilst we have been shit, they have been much worse. Hopefully the draw on Weds night will give the team a bit of confidence. I really hope we have a go at these instead of this sit deep, long ball bollocks they have been serving up so far. I hope he throws Nani and Zaha on the flanks and just has a real go from the off. An early goal and we could romp home.....but we all know it will be the Valencia/Young combo with more pass backs than a Jonh Barnes compilation video and a dull as feck performance to boot.

Heard this last week. Didn't turn out to ne the case. Don't care how comfortably it is, a win is a win.

Last week was a fluke. We're winning this one, mark my words.

de Gea

Rafael - Smalling - Vidic - Evra

Nani - Carrick - Fellaini - Kagawa

Hernandez

van Persie

Is Rooney fit? If so I'd replace RvP with Rooney. I think van Persie needs to up his game a bit whilst Hernandez needs some confidence shown in him.

I work with somebody and he works security for United, ferries Charlton and some other's around.
He has told me that RVP is injured and wont play on Saturday, both he and Fallaini went to the Bridgewater Hospital when they arrived back in the UK.
He told me he had to carry RVP bag on to the plane, he could hardly walk.
Rooney will be fit to play on Saturday.

Chicha as No.10 with RVP/Rooney as No.9?

please no Young, Valecia, Fellaini in the squad. Play Nani, Kagawa, Celverley.

De Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Smalling Buttner
Cleverley Carrick
Valencia Fellaini Young
Welbeck

Ferdinand playing as poorly as he is, and Smalling together isn't a partnership I want to see, not even Ferdinand playing well, they are just to similar. We need someone willing to fight in there, Vidic or Jones, all the best partnerships we've had have been a combination of a tough defender and a footballing central defender. This is two footballing defenders, and it doesn't work.

Pretty sure he's takin the piss

Hernandez behind RvP but if Rooney is fit then Rooney behind Hernandez.

Why not Van Persie behind Hernandez in the first formation? Van Persie is more suited to that role, and you lose the threat of Hernandez's pace and movement if you keep dropping him back.

With Nani and Kagawa drifting in from the flanks I wouldn't expect Hernandez to drop deep. Both he and RvP would play high up the pitch, but nevertheless I believe Hernandez link-up play has improved greatly over the past twelve months and I'd still prefer RvP to be our forwardmost attacking option.

With Rooney maybe not ready for this game, I'd like to see this:

de Gea
Rafael Vidic Evans Evra
Cleverley Carrick
Nani Kagawa Welbeck
van Persie
