We'll be murdered if we play him against decent opposition like Arsenal - I.E. City this season.

Luckily he's gone and earned himself some time in Moyes's doghouse with that stupid red card, I'd think.

Argh! How fecking predictable. Still, performance-wise that was a step in the right direction.

Absolutely. He's our defensive midfielder and he's been shielding the back four very well, a lot of tackles put in, a lot of running and aerial duels won. That red card was absolute bullshit and his stupidity combined, I agree, but it still does not cloud his good performance.

I don't know man, I thought he was slow, too safe (play it back style) with his passing and not enough willing to make himself available for a pass to build things up from the back. He's a liability in terms of fouls conceded and positioning

I thought he did ok actually and is going in the right direction. Probably should have replaced him with Jones with 15 minutes to go. Jones would have scored a 40 yard screamer!

Made some decent interceptions, but he was clumsy as feck and that 2nd yellow was always coming. He should have been subbed for his own good about 10 - 15 minutes before he was sent off.

Some very differing views on his performance in here. I only saw the last 20 minutes and from reading the last two pages of this thread I still haven't a clue how he did. It ranges from worst player ever to good.
He was better, and if you read my post history as charleysurf is suggesting, I'm one of those who don't really rate him. Definitely an improvement, but he's also fecking stupid.

Thought he was one of the better players on the pitch. Although that might say more about the other 9 than about Fellaini.

The movement was poor in the first half and there weren't many forward options and I'd prefer him to play backwards then look for an aimless hoof. When it was more open and players were in space his passing was generally good and positive.

A few points.

Fellaini did not look out of his depth tonight. The issue is that he looked at the level of the game.

Big teams don't play with players as limited as him.

He's a red card machine outside of the PL. You can't trust him.

Good god, for those saying he was good and winning his battles, I'm sure you hope he starts Sunday - we will see what you think after that. He's been poor against Sociadad tonight but its not the first time. Arsenal's midfield won't give him a kick on Sunday. He's out of his depth.

Didn't play badly by any means, Moyes should have subbed him long before the red.

He is soo clumsy, he just seems to elbow every player in sight and what is so annoying he is too slow.

He did well. Real shame about the red card. That first yellow was a joke. That's what the morons will latch on to.

You can see the cnuts above who are just loving it are the usual suspects.
It was an improved performance, but his sending off was idiotic. Every cnut could see it was coming.

Yup, maybe that's as good as it will get for Fellaini as a CM.

And that's what, imo, he was told to / supposed to do. He's a defensive midfielder whose role is to shield the back four, with Evra going forward so often he had to cover his position very often and it's something natural. He will play it safe, he's no Carrick, no Scholes, out of those two midfielders we've had today you'd expect more creativity from Giggsy. As for positioning then yea, probably his positioning in attacking sense of it is far away from top notch but defensively, I think he's doing fine.

Problem was up front, it was our players who couldn't manage to string few passes together and create shit untill Kagawa moved to the #10. And of course, we still lack a proper playmaker / box to box midfielder to assist Carrick / Fellaini.

One things for certain anyway, it's his fault we didn't win. Him and that cnut young. Oh, and Moyes. Bastards all three.

That's what frustrates me the most, I don't think there is a similar player to him in any of the other big European teams.

I think he played well tonight. Although that may be down to him performing this cunning trick our midfielders have performed in recent years by reducing your performance to a shockingly low level so that you don't need to be that great in comparison to other top midfielders in order to be praised.

I never thought I'd see the day - but alistair's spot on.

Been saying it since we signed him, he's just a nothing player.

He wasn't terrible and it was a definite improvement, there's definitely more to come from him as well.

He didn't really do that much wrong for the red card, it was just a natural result of the clumsy, niggly style he has. He'll keep picking up cards if he keeps playing that way.

His top level isn't exactly amazing but hopefully he continues to improve until we're at least getting that much from him.

I don't think he was good, but average. Average movement and offers nothing going forward. He tried some sort of counter-attack when he intercepted but he moved so slowly and uninspiring and ended up backing off.

What is he offering that our existing players (Anderson, Cleverley even Jones) aren't?

Spot on, for me.

I really don't know how some, Roy Keane included, are labelling tonight a good performance.

Roy Keane 'he played really well' 'the cards were harsh' 'good game for him...kept it simple'

Lee Dixon 'the ref was harsh'

But the CAF knows better

You're implying that the likes of marjen ('Fellaini raped my hamster') and Kid Cunto ('Fellaini wouldn't feck me') actually put any thought in their analysis of Fellaini's performance.

We know better than those 2 Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime.

Can't argue with this, he's a massive gorp.

You're wasting your time pal, Moyes has paid £28 million or at best a mid-table player, some people just don't want to admit it was a terrible signing.

I hate so much that he's a United player. And it's amazing to see Ashley Young slaughtered for a bit of exaggeration and gamesmanship while this absolute thug of a player continually and needlessly fouls and harms fellow professionals.

Absolutely zero quality in this player.

I can understand people not being a fan of a player, but when their judgement is so blinded by it they can't be objective their presence here is totally pointless.

His best performance for us so far. Maybe a little clumsy to get the red card but won't hold that against him, still worry that against top opposition he'll be found out.

I don't think anyone on the CAF has a problem admitting he was a terrible signing. You need to look at the people who won't acknowledge a good performance because they just want to give him shit.

This about sums it up. He looked better, but was hardly setting the world alight. But he was decent, did what he was supposed to generally. The red card was total stupidity though. Gets a yellow then keep fouling people!

He was about as good as you can expect from him. That's some kind of back-handed compliment but he was better than recent matches. Then he got sent off for his 5th foul, in the middle of the pitch. Just don't make the tackle you fecking oaf.

He wasn't terrible though, just limited.

Moyes seemed to accept the sending off was fair and due to "totting up". He fouled countless times, that sending off was coming and it was stupid from him.

He did play better though, so that's definitely a positive. Anyone saying he wasn't better just doesn't want to admit it. Still needs to improve further, but positive signs providing he reins that stupid fouling thing in.

well, I'm probably being a moron expecting objectivity on web forum. But in a way the blatant hypocrisy and delusion is fascinating to see.

It's like RAWK more and more every day.
