He's not been one of our better players in any way, shape or form.

easy inside our best attacking players of the season, just to say something. He is clearly not the problem of our football, but part of the solution. No coincidence with him on the pitch we played some of our best football. Time to time...

He's not been one of our better players in any way, shape or form.

Our defenders have been poor. He's been our best winger apart from young Adnan. He's played better than our Central midfielders, Giggs maybe putting in a higher top level at times.

It might not be saying much but he's not half as bad as a lot of the guys right now.

How many do you reckon have played better this season? Genuine question, I'm just interested in exactly where people are ranking him this season.

Yeah, like others have said, he hasn't been spectacular for all his talent, but he's been better then Valencia, Nani, Young or Welbeck. The only winger who has actually played well has been Januzaj but he's too young to start always, so Kagawa, even though he isn't anything great on the left, should still be starting games, because he's been our second best winger, as well as being immensely talented.

Agree with this, I don't see why he is being defended so much on this forum its like people are desperate to prove we have a top player, fact is he is into his second season here and really has nothing to show so far. Valencia had much more of an impact for us in his first year.

I would rather give Nani or Janujaz or even Zaha a run of games on the wing.

According to the media he had some breathing difficulties after the match and an ambulance was called to his house. Supposed to be fine now.

It was probably his best performance in the league this season. Unlike most other games where I feel he just drifts through the game, I thought he was more involved and decision to take him off ahead of Valencia and Welbeck was ridiculous.

Also he played a lovely long range pass with his weaker foot in the first half. Anyone got a video of it or a gif?

Jaysus, that's not painting a good picture for him then, he was fairly shite.

That bit where he got it at the edge of the box summed him up nicely. Finally got it in a good position, nice little turn away from his man and.... nothing. Ran with it a bit more, then passed it sideways when the moment had come and gone. He basically plays like a silkier and weaker version of Joe Allen.

He needs a rocket up his arse to get him moving. Far too happy to be jogging around the pitch with the ball. Needs to be far, far, far more direct and dynamic.

He hasn't been good in the league, everyone but MadWinger can agree on that I think.

I have criticized him a lot in this thread but I don't think he was shite. A couple of uncharacteristically poor touches in the first half but other than that I thought he looked hell of a lot more involved than he usually. Even ran at the defenders a couple of times which we haven't seen him do at all.

To be fair I'd feel fairly short of breath at the thought of being the link-up between a midfield without Carrick and a strikeforce without RVP or Rooney.

In all seriousness, hopefully it's nothing.

So did I. Not involved enough, but normally when he got to touch the ball positive things happened. I was surprised to see him replaced while Welbeck stayed on.

Yeah me too. I was surprised to see Rafael replaced too though.

Really? I know people are dying to stick it to Moyes, but is it not understandable that Rafael was replaced bearing in mind his recent layoff and the fact that we needed a constant overlap down the right to try and get a goal. Good management I say.

It has nothing to do with sticking it to Moyes ffs. Did Fergie's subs never get questioned/discussed? People said the exact same thing last season when Kagawa got subbed off at Upton Park.

I simply said I was surprised to see Rafael come off because he was so involved in a lot of our good moves. For all I know he could have had a niggle.

"I should be flexible enough to play in a number of roles, so I am a more attractive player to the team and can contribute even more.

"Every day I am learning how to trouble my opponents on the left, how best to cause them problems with my movement. But I would still like to be capable of taking up more positions."

Thats what you want to see.

I don't think his performances from the left have been anywhere near good enough, but good to see he's prepared to get his head down and try get better.

The frustration for me with him is that he is undoubtedly a very good player, if maybe a little light weight at times. He needs to influence games, whether he plays centrally or from the left. Good to see he's prepared to work at it.

Yep - good to hear. I always liked Kagawa for that reason, and I think that's also why he has been taken on so well by the fans in general. He genuinely seems to want to work for things, and always seems to try at least.

Also think that's what he has missed. Sometimes in games he just lets the game go past him; not because he doesn't get on the ball, because he is often touching it here and there. But he just doesn't do enough with it. It's like Januzaj; when given the opportunity, he took it and made an impact. In fact, usually when he plays, he's ready to try something and make that impact.

The biggest problem, for me, with kagawa on the left is that one of his best attributes is to know quickly where people are around him, which gives him that split second advantage to play the pass before the defender can react. He's good with flicks and short snappy passes too, which benefits that. When he's on the left, the space around him is halved; his influence is therefore limited because his options are limited, and the defenders know he has less people to pass to so it's easy to know who to mark. That takes away what is IMO his best attribute.

Having said that, I don't think he's been overly impressive in his games as 10 since RVP has been out. He's been OK, but not the player well hoped and expected him to be once he played there. Then again, he's hardly played there recently and it probably takes time for him to adjust.

Bit of an enigma right now, is Kagawa.

Moyes says he had to get his stomach pumped... guess that explains him coming off on Wednesday! Hope he's okay.

we needed him at most when roon is suspended. bad luck led to the goal conceded. really bad luck

Bad luck led to the goal. Agreed. However our performances was nothing to do with luck. We were fecking shit and deserved everything we got.

You make your own luck at times. Debuchy didn't pussy out of the challenge and got the rebound. You could say he earned the luck.
