I just can't see this happening. Will we ever produce another Paul Scholes?

i'm trying my best but he's pretty skittish and tends to scarper when i approach him with my glove and turkey baster.

my translation of that post:

I am very happy at Bayern, but if you do not give me the money I am expecting/feel that I deserve, then i'm moving on. I have until the end of the year, possibly until the summer to let you decide. In the mean time I while try my best for the club, but if you don't resign me i'm off to manchester.

Ta ra lads.

That's more like it. It's happening lads!

Weird. From my intepretation, things hasn't change at all since the contract situation was brought up and he's willing to move clubs if both parties can't come to an agreement
Yes pretty much.

This line
Da dieser aber noch bis 2015 läuft ist das auch kein großes Problem und wir werden sehen was die Zukunft bringt.

(That this (the current contract) still runs until 2015 it (the contract situation) isn't a big problem, and we will see what the future brings)

Would cause panic on here if one of our lads said it, definitely seems to prefer the option of staying at Bayern but they'll have to cough up for him.

I presume they will depending on how many others contracts will have to be bunked up to match it, id imagine hes looking for Ribery-esque wages
considering no outfield player has played as many games as him this season it seems pretty clear that they see him as a first team player so it seems very unlikely a mata type situation will arise and im sure between now and the summer they will agree some numbers and yes they will probably be high but I imagine lewandowski is coming in oh high wages as well so probably lots of players will be sniffing around a rise (Dante's agent was linking him with clubs not long ago so I imagine he is doing it for a start)

Depends what he is asking for and what Bayern are willing to pay, i cant imagine they will value him as much as they do Ribery, Lahm, Muller in terms of importance as they have Gotze, Thiago, Muller who can play in his position also, they may not want to be seen as weak and give other players ideas, he has played the most minutes but Gotze, Thiago, Schweinsteiger and Martinez have all had injury spells, if Guardiola valued him so highly would he have brought in Thiago when he already had Gotze,Muller,Kroos when he arrived?

We need to add quality throughout, Kroos will just be the start, like Mata.

He will add a threat to our midfield that none of our over's have though - goals. Cleverley, Carrick, Giggs, Jones, Fellaini even are hardly prolific scorers. We have no longe range threat from the middle so teams are happy to sit off and keep tight. They couldn't do that with Scholes around, and as they came to close him down he would pop a ball in the gaps.

He is also very good at keeping the ball and getting up the pitch, we need confident player's not people who crab all game and pass the buck.

We also never had this problem about having a hard man in midfield when Scholes/Carrick dominated midfield's a few years back!

He's scored once in 21 starts this season.

He got 10 goals on loan to leverkusen a few years ago, he plays fairly withdraw for pep but can hit them no question, ten goals is a decent return for a very young midfielder

I'd imagine he'd play a deeper role for you too rather than the more advanced role he played for Bayer.

Goals from your central midfielders have never been the problem anyways, its always been the creativity and penetration through the middle that we lacked these last 5-6 years. We've lacked a real driving energy force there, capable of picking the ball up and driving forward with it, and since Scholes declined/retired we've lacked the creativity in there to pick out a man with a through ball. Not many teams have central midfielders who get you 10-15 goals a season, and even then, it's mostly from free kicks and the occasional long shot. Our midfielders don't do anything to even get into goalscoring positions, they have no penetration through the middle and they're all slow and shite at closing down space or running with the ball, or in cleverley's case, a bit of a pussy who is to scared to try anything other then a safe 2 yard pass.

Kroos would give us the control in midfield we now lack, as well as the creativity through the middle along with the possibility of long range shots now and then, but I think he'll end up signing a new contract.

Of course, you aren't going to see that from Michael Carrick who's main job is to distribute the ball, retain possession and protect the back four and likewise, Darren Fletcher who doesn't have the same mobility and energy to support the attack.

At the same time however, given the way we play, we need our central midfielders to contribute more offensively and defensively when you aren't a team who monopolise possession and rely on wingplay. Unfortunately, we don't have the personnel in central midfield for that.

The thing that frustrates me however, is even if our midfielders find themselves around the box, Carrick doesn't really possess the subtlety or guile to create openings and clearly has no confidence in his shooting ability, as he rarely opts to have a shot and Cleverley just persists with incessant probing or sideways passes around the box that effectively lead nowhere.

So in short, we have players who don't possess the ingenuity in the final third to create, players who in my opinion don't have confidence in their ability in those areas and players who just generally can't shoot for shit.

nobody has a clue if he would have shooting opps or not, but this guy said we would add a threat from range - and he's right

But again, he has 1 goal this season. There's no doubt he has an excellent strike on him, but this season where he has played deeper he only has scored once. Assuming he plays deeper for youse (I don't see him occupying an attacking role due to your quality there) then he isn't exactly going to be a player who will come in and add goals from midfield.

Bild is reporting that Robben is set to sign a contract extension: €8 million per year until 2017 (until he's 33). That's the same amount Kroos, who is 24, wants, according to reports. Hmm...

Kroos is at a level where he should be a starter somewhere, he's too good to rotate in.
Well he's made more appearances this season then anyone other then Lahm I think so it's safe to say he's a starter.

Edit: Actually only Alaba has played more minutes then he has of outfield players. He's been a lot more then just rotated in under Pep.

His recent FB quote says, "I love Bayern and I don’t mind that I am a squad player at the moment."

Apparently he doesn't feel like a first team player yet.

He says exactly the opposite actually . The following part:
Fakt ist : ich bin sehr glücklich bei Bayern zu spielen und meine sportliche Situation als Stammspieler ist sehr gut.

Fact is: I'm very happy to play for Bayern and my current situation as a regular starter is very good.

Is that a direct quote?!?!

It's on!

People are still getting their hopes up for this one? No CL = if he's available, he's off somewhere else, best hope it's Real or PSG rather than City or Chelsea.

Wow, Captain Miserable over here. He got up, saw we were all joyously enjoying a big collective bowl of Cheerio's and he comes along and takes a giant dump right in them.

Sir, you crapped in our cheerios.

Shame on you.

Regardless if anyone thinks a player like Kroos is going to be interested in a team which is outside of the top 4 in the premiership is having a laugh. I don't see ourselves in the race at all to sign him.

Yeah he'll probably only sign for a team like one of the Milans.

feck off, we're Manchester United.

Maybe Bayern's message to him is sign the contract or we won't play you with four months left to the world cup.
He will make the squad no matter what. Germany would be stupid to not include him. He is still a terrific player.

That's obviously rubbish and proven wrong time and time again.

Proven wrong? we've never been in the situation of having to attract top players whilst outside the top 4 since the Prem era began.. Mata was brought in under the assumption we will definitely finish top 4 and he obviously thought he has it in him to join up with the likes of RVP etc and get us to that top 4. If we get there, fair enough we're sorted.. and we can attract whomever, but once we fall outside the CL spots.. we have to be realistic at who we can go for.

I can't see Kroos going to spain, so the Premiership is the only other possibility.. He would get into Liverpool's side, Arsenals and he could replace Lampard like for like in the Chelsea set up. This is all assuming that he is actually going to leave Bayern, which rarely happens. I can't see a player who plays in majority of Bayern's games, is accustomed to being at the latter end of CL, wanting to play in a team which is in the europa league if that.

It is essential if we wish to attract top drawer players to be in the CL, regardless if we are Manchester United. Otherwise we are going to have to sign young talents with potential world class ability, which is not a negative.. just saying those who are linking us to Vidal, Kroos etc need to be wary that it is unrealistic to think we can attract these players in the summer if we're not in europe.

Players move for all kinds of reasons - money, location, manager, club they supported, chance of trophies, exciting project etc. Not being in Europe for one season doesn't mean a lot unless it's a senior player like RvP who has little time left to win a trophy.
