Where do you expect us to finish this season?

The first pages of this thread make for interesting reading. So many people who now want half the squad replaced tipped us to finish 1st-3rd. In September.

Amazing how 1) Moyes lowered our expectations, 2) convinced some people that it's the squad that's the problem.

Sorry Cina, but this was the second post on page 1 and just could not miss it

Pretty much everyone agreed with it at the time! I was right the previous two years so 2/3 ain't bad I guess.

I genuinely believed we'd be fine domestically and Europe is where we'd struggle.

Oh well...

Yes just reading the first page, Rado_N agreed with you and Hectic said 1st by 8 points!

You are in illustrious company so no worries :)

:lol::lol::lol:

Great to see some of us can still make jokes wit the situation as it stands

I'm afraid we'll end 8th :(

I'm afraid it could be worse than that, a 10th place finish would not shock me at this moment. I look at the fixture list and wonder where our next win will come from if we can fail where Sheffield United succeeded.

Im hoping for 4th or 7th.
Not europa league and Moyes considering it a trophy to go for. :(

Won't winning the Europa League guarantee us Champions League Footy for season after? Might be the only route for us in with Moyesy as manager.

For all the people talking about how our squad is actually a mid-table one, this thread shows that most people still thought we would finish "at least" third, or fourth at a stretch. One guy said something to the effect of "the only way Moyes will be sacked if we finish something ridiculous like 8th".

Good news, we're not 8th.

There's no chance we're finishing outside the top four. I don't think people appreciate the size of collapse that would be required for that to happen. SAF was great, but he wasn't kicking every ball - this squad has too much quality and experience to allow us to slip so badly. What's more, Moyes is too good a manager to oversee such a slide.
1st or 2nd if Moyes has a good season. 3rd if he does rather poor. 4th if he's out of his depth.

I cannot understand how anyone can think he can finish 4th and it'd be OK. If that happens, it's curtains
The only way he's getting sacked is if we finish something ridiculous like 8th.

We didn't give Moyes a 6 year contract for nothing. This is part of a long term plan.
Being such massive chokers that we finish below Spurs would certainly surprise me.
Resigned to finishing third or maybe fourth. It could be all about next season.
I'd be shocked if this squad dropped out of the top 2. Especially if it was a switch with Mourinho's current Chelsea.
These quotes are so brilliant. Especially Drifter being 'resigned' to finish third or maybe fourth. If only.

God reading this thread is horrible. We'll likely finish 7th, 6th if we can put a half decent run together or Everton really struggle without Lukaku.

5th. We'll put a little run together and become another laughing stock at having failed to qualify fir the CL. Thursday night channel 5 la la la

Re-reading my post, wow. Top 2 haha.

My opinion on Chelsea is quite funny too...but a tactically strong manager can get an average team performing well. Whilst Hazard is carrying them, they don't give away pathetic goals. So 1-0 Jose and I know nothing.
