Arsenal vs. Manchester United

Snoozefest but this is pretty much the same tactic we've always used the Emirates. With some sharper counter attacking I'd back us to get a positive result here, but we're looking too blunt.

I think we've been the better team. Just need to take a bit more care in the final third and we could win it.

Enjoyed that half, thought we played well and had the best of chances. Shame RvP didn't score early doors, but if he did it may have been a hindrance to us getting a goal that early.

Also, for as much as Cleverley has been slated of late, I thought he's had a good game thus far. Been quick to close down, passed the ball well and not loked out of place at all.

More the second half I hope with a better end product!

Meh, not bad. Should be winning. That chance in the first minute looked bread and butter for RVP. We look to be looking for options centrally, which is positive. Arsenal are pressing like maniacs. Surely they'll tire before we do, as we seem to be sitting off and keeping shape well when they have the ball. Think we can win this one, so long as we don't have a defensive brainfart.

Glad Rafa was able to carry on. Wouldn't fancy Rio coming on and Smalling at RB.

That was a good Everton away performance. And we got to the byline often too. Moyes will be pleased.

Not really an Everton performance. Very much how Fergie played Wenger plenty of times over the years containing them and looking dangerous on the break. We have looked much better in possession than most recent games as well.

I'd taken that performance under Fergie so elated to get it under Moyes.

I suspect Rafael isnt right after the heavy landing, after the way his face was when he was about to take a throw not long after. Would be no surprise at all if he's suffering a concussion and like a few years ago, thinks hes tough enough to play on through injury. Hopefully this time he isnt hurt like it seems and he wont end up suffering more for staying on...

Thought you boys had the better chances and have been much more organised. Still think you aren't seeing enough of Mata doing what he did for us, although his ball to RVP earlier was good.

I'd take 0-0, but if you can nick a 0-1 then fair enough.

It's a dismal watch. No one really playing poorly except Cleverley, who looks like a deer in the headlights every time he gets the ball in the Arsenal half. The Arsenal players know it too. Seems like 3 players are on him pressing him every time he gets the ball.

Not a bad half, I think the midfield is sitting to deep though. Defence is shaky, nearly shat myself when I saw Rio warming up.
I thought for the first 20 minutes that with Rooney dropping deeper when we were out of possession it meant he and Cleverley formed the flat part of the triangle with Carrick the point in behind them and that we were defending from the middle a little higher up in between their defence and midfield.

We doing much better than i imagined but that missed chance might comeback to haunt us.

It's the best way to play against Arsenal. We've suffocated their midfield when they've been in our final third and they're not getting many chances. Ozil has been anonymous so far.

Yep. All that's missing is a goal on the break.

We look more threatening when we keep the ball on the ground near their penalty area. Arsenal giving us a lot of room in their half which we should be exploiting more.

That Toure OG was almost as hilarious as Traore's against Burnley that time.

I think he just thought he could see the half out and assess at HT.

Decent defensively except for Vidic as per usual acting the spastic and putting us under pressure with playing the ball our for throw-ins under no pressure.

Oh, and could he please start, you know, marking Giroud, at a point in the near future?

Cleverley and Carrick's been passengers when we have the ball, Rafael's been shaky, other than that decent if toothless.

Scrappy yet carrying a threat of sorts.

Considering where they were in the league just a few weeks ago i have been really quite disappointed by Arsenal, good fur our lot of course but to imagine them as leaders based on this evidence?

I'd like to see Evra get into the game because right now the left flank has been non-existent. Mata is being wasted in the current system, Adnan would be a better option.

Accomplished first half performance away to a good Arsenal side who have a terrific home record. Even disregarding the fact that we should have scored a goal or two early on, we have looked solid and have pressed very well in the right areas.

Hopefully that'll quieten a few goms in here who are just desperate for a whinge.

Januzaj on for Valencia would change the game IMO. Valencia has been ineffective again, where as januzaj would give us that little bit of quality and pace and unpredictability on the right, that would push Gibbs back even more. I like mata on the right too more then the left.

I really dont understand how you think Cleverley is playing badly. I thought this was his best half in ages. Half of his passes have been forward, he has won the ball in tackles a number of time and his off the ball tracking and shutting off of passing channels has been pretty good. Probably a 7/10 for me so far.

Agree with this.

Mata has seemingly got the ball caught up in his feet at times, but he will come good no doubt. Too much class not too.

Not too shabby at all, we look fairly well-organised and have been marginally the better side in a game with very little technical quality so far.

Pretty sure we'll see Janu, this is just the game for him. I like having Valencia in theory b/c he's quick, but so is gibbs, so might as well toss in Janu to terrify Gibbs.

This isn't really the game for Fellaini. He would have run riot against Fulham but I hope he stays on the bench today, all our chances are coming from pressing and hitting them quick. Would be nice to have Felli for set plays though I guess

I think Clevz has been great today. His energy is incredible. It's like we have an extra AM and he's always back fast. Only time I'm scared is when Arsenal break and there's no sign of Clevz. Still, we're lacking someone to control the middle, but I still think this is one of Clevz best games we've seen

Thought our midfield has done pretty well, Carrick and Cleverley been our two best players. Mata has looked good when he's been on the ball in the middle which hasn't been that often.

Vidic showing that he might not be that big a miss next season, at least on the pitch and Valencia showing why he shouldn't be here next season.

He's not, overall, but he really doesn't impose himself on the game. He should be driving us forward when Carrick isn't and they are doing a good job of marking him tonight. Can see this ending 0-0 which wouldn't be a bad result.
