Aye. WHU away can be a bastard of a fixture, especially under Big Sam, with his direct football. Haven't watched them much this season, but what struck me was how their entire game plan was geared towards bringing Carroll into play; no variation whatsoever. In those circumstances, this could have been a massacre if Carrick had been deployed at CB and left to his own devices.
The other thing is, Moyes could have stuck Fellaini in at CB to 'do a job' because of his aerial prowess, but that would've been disastrous in terms of our attempts to play out from the back.
When you think about it, with injuries, this could have been a horrible game - Moyes devised a game plan that made it a walk in the park defensively (we looked really organised and untroubled) and we played some nice football.
It was his first tactical victory as United manager, imo, and I'm really pleased, as my big concern has been about his lack of a game plan - we saw that today.
