Bayern München v Manchester United

Welbeck will be the main dude for you lot tonight. I'm expecting a great game from him.

1-1 draw and beat them on pens. We did it, it's easy.

There is nothing on the Bayern bench.

Even if they score first, it doesn't affect us in the slightest. I have a feeling we have a real chance here

Götze and Kroos will not work as a CM pair. I believe more that Alaba and Lahm will stay deeper than usual. And that Robben and Ribery will drop into midfield to help with the build-up. Müller and Robben, Ribery and Götze share positions. Müller, Götze will play false nines, tens and wingers. Something like this...

..and while defending/off the ball?

I'm genuinely bricking it right now  Doesn't help that I'm in the middle of exams adding to the nerves, but I haven't felt this nervous/anxious/excited for a game since Madrid last year.
I have an exam this week so I know how you feel. I tried to resign myself to a defeat but the hope just creeps on in. Good team to. I just hope it's a good performance.

We need to draw in fouls in hope of set pieces as corners, free kicks and penalties are where we're most likely going to score from. Bayern will overreact to every challenge and will possibly try to get one of our players sent off as revenge for Schwein so we have to be wary.

We will be sitting deep. So pace in our defence is not as crucial, so Moyes drops Ferdinand. We're going to be closed quick in the middle we play Fletcher, probably the least technical player in the PL.

Agreed, I may be a little bias but Bayern and Barca are EZ-Work. Its Basel Im scared of!

Who made the decision that Rooney will play with pain killing injections?

Rooney or Moyes?

Think Kagawa will play exactly where Giggs started last week. Left sided central midfield with Welbeck playing slightly further up, hitting them on the break.

  1. Bayern Munich team: Neuer, Lahm, Boateng, Dante, Alaba, Muller, Kroos, Gotze, Robben, Mandzukic, Ribery. Subs: Raeder, Van Buyten, Rafinha, Pizarro, Weihrauch, Weiser, Hojbjerg.

  2. Manchester United team: De Gea, Jones, Smalling, Vidic, Evra, Fletcher, Carrick, Valencia, Rooney, Kagawa, Welbeck. Subs: Lindegaard, Ferdinand, Giggs, Hernandez, Young, Buttner, Januzaj.

  3. Referee: Jonas Eriksson (Sweden)

Hit them hard in the first few minutes. PUTEM UNDER PRESSURE.

lunatic.

No use of the word try in Moyes' pre match comments there.

Bashing Fletcher was understandable when we had a midfield. Now he's one of two who actually know how to play the position in our squad.

Really hope Kagawa and Welbeck shine in this game.

Well, it kind of does. It means we have to score 2 to go through (without going to penalties).

God I haven't felt like this in ages, every chance we could do something special, and every chance we could get battered.

It feels surreal being in a position to go to the semis given our season.

Really not sure why they're acting like dropping Ferdinand is the worst thing ever. They seem to forget how good Mandzukic is in the air, and how Smalling is probably our best aerial defender. Not to mention, Bayern will be so much more direct tonight, it won't be a game in which we can just camp outside the box and watch them pass for fun, they'll be stretching us defensively.

Souness and Carragher seem massively shocked by Smalling starting the place of Rio. They seem to think it's a huge mistake.

Have to agree with gary, Souness and Garragher, would've preferred Rio at the back because of his experience and distribution. Smalling can put in a good performance, but it's a big test.

Can't fault Moyes for that team line up at all.

It's hope for a monumental performance time.

Bashing Fletcher was understandable when we had a midfield. Now he's one of two who actually know how to play the position in our squad.
Really let's see how long it takes before he's pointing at his man running past him.

I'm a bit concerned with how Smalling will cope with their insane level of pressing as soon as he touches the ball. Hopefully he just hoofs it and doesn't try to get cute. I see him as a safer option defensively than Rio at this point though.

Just for that I hope Smalling bangs in a header for us.

Fellaini cost us a goal by losing his man in the first leg. At least Fletcher contributes more by keeping the ball.

I think chances will fall to Welbeck again. I just hope he makes them count, will be huge for him as well personally

Imagine an early goal, or a Bayern sending off....

Agree with duffer, Welbeck is key here. Have a feeling he'll be the guy the chances fall for, he needs to take them. DDG needs to be in beast mode too.

feck I'm nervous, how can the players stand it?
