Manchester United vs. Norwich City

If the team wins convincingly today without either of Moyes signings contributing then Giggs will be making a point that Moyes time produced nothing. Hard on Mata but there you go. Bit disapointed that some Journos seemed to know the lineup early in the day. I don't think that's the right way to be going on.

It's fecking hilarious that you are equating Clev/Val/Rio with anti-Moyes style!

No no...I mean that the starting line up doesn't work, and we end with something like nani kagawa and mata behind the striker for example

Giggs knows he isn't going to be manager next year so this team and the teams he'll choose will be more psychological in the sense of allowing the players who have been chastised this year to prove themselves.

feck it, as long as we enjoy what we watch, the team selection for next 4 games doesnt mata

Hehe im clever

Giggsy dropping Moyes's favorites straightaway here(Mata, Fellaini and Januzaj). Interesting lineup, though I think it's more about the intent rather than the lineup.

If I'm honest, it's not the line-up I would have wanted to see. I still expect a big improvement in performance though.

Gary delighted it seems we went with 4-4-2. Hopefully Van Gaal joins and shows them their is more to life than 4-4-2.

This is the first time I have watched a sky sports build up in years, literally years. Since when did they go all top gear with a load of asbo wearing fans in the studio cheering and clapping? What lunacy is this?

Anyway, whether the players like it or not we will be able to read a fair bit into what they say especially now, Vida saying the approach will be different, offensive attacking football. So what does that tell us about the 'Moyes effect'?

Nice line up, I would have liked to see Mata start but Giggsy was clear in his interview about what he is looking for and what he wants in that respect. No space for Fellaini, says it all really.

Not a bad lineup considering it's Norwich and under normal circumstances we'd be smashing them.

Maybe he's just throwing Cleverley a bone. He's probably in real danger of being the first out the door under the new regime this summer.

 @ people slagging Giggs off already.. So much for giving the new manager enough time...

Nobody is slagging Giggs off. There would be no point in a matchday thread if people can't debate a team selection though.

I would have annihilated Moyes for that team. Terrible team but hopefully he is just giving people a run out. No Mata and Januzaj not involved at all is what rankles the most.

Moyes' line ups were, towards the end, around about what we were asking for here.

  • Against Pool we had Rooney, RVP, Januzaj and Mata (the team we were all yearning for) and still got hammered.
  • Against Everton we had Rooney, Mata, Kagawa and Nani and still were rubbish.
Moyes' line ups tended to more be in line with what we wanted than even Fergie's, sometimes. It must have been something more about Moyes' managerial, tactical or training style that made the players under perform.

If we see a good performance today, that will be proven.

The extent to which this team is being scrutinised is silly. We are at home to Norwich and should be creating the lion's share of the chances. It is not unusual or tactically naive to go with 2 strikers.

Have to agree. Give Cleverley a chance to show he can play the ball forwards when allowed to by the manager.

I think the players will be overhyped and score 2 goals before half time and the crowd exploding. If I were Moyes I would go somewhere where they never hear of football, because this is going to be huge and his career is pointing 90 degrees down.
Maybe a trip to the moon would be the best place

A line up that I sort of expected. Seems Giggs has opted for the players he has known and played with for longer. Not really a huge fan of the lineup, as I would like to see us playing players that are going to be around for next season and play a big part in our future. We should be able to get the result, but I can't see it being that great of a game to watch.

Terrible, terrible line up. But i don't care who plays as long as we play well and create some chances. I don't even care what's the score going to be just have more than 4-5 shots.

Why the feck Valencia is playing, anyone? It's a joke, he is the perfect example of a United player in many people's eyes, Neville, Scholes, Giggs all mention him and 4-4-2 is United. Well, he has got the pace but nothing else ffs. Dropping Mata for him is mad.

I can't wait for Van Gaal to arrive.

People moaning about the line up need to take a breath. Every single player was fecking shite last week, let's wait and see how the team perform before whining.

So many people bitching about the line up, maybe the mentality from Giggsy will be totally different. Oh and @Sixpence , Yorkie just said the "united way" again on sky

This, this , this a hundred fecking times over. Everyone jizzed last week over the Kagawa-Mata-Nani link up and look how that turned out. Guys lets watch the match first before jumping to conclusions and raging

Poor Norwich theres only one team playing today based on this coverage. We're probably going to get spanked  :nervous:

The United way drinking game:

Down a shot every time a pundit says 'the united way' until the end of the season.

Guaranteed to get you wankered every weekend.
