United linked with van Gaal in the meeja

This is scarily quiet for someone that is apparently due to be announced imminently.

The "Fergie undermining Moyes" shit looked like a completely unsubstantiated media driven thing, and we all know how many of the esteemed gentlemen were banned at various stages of their buffoon careers by Sir Alex. They took umbrage with the timing of the book promotion, for heaven's sake.

There's no reason to think that Fergie was anything but supportive to David Moyes. It's clear from Managing My Life that he was well aware of the whole 'Shadow of Busby' effect.

Rather than a hindrance, I think Fergie will be exactly the kind of influence that Van Gaal needs.

The maddening thing about it was Moyes refused to listen to Ferguson, despite Ferguson having lived under that shadow of expectation.

I sometimes wonder if Moyes's fragile ego got the better of him. The difference I see, as an outsider, is van Gaal doesn't appear to have the insecurity Moyes had. Yet he has (hopefully) learned a lot from his Barca and Bayern experiences.

I think van Gaal should steam on at half-time, do the cash dash draw and then flash us his bollocks before signing his contract at a table on the pitch Bryan Robson-style.

He is Fred the Red and he will reveal himself at half time to fireworks and some tunes, then drop his pants and get 2 of the finest maidens to wash his balls.

It could be down to the fact the Club has taken their time with this, though everything does point to an announcement at the end of the season. The club will not pander to the Dutch FA and announce it tomorrow or I doubt they will, we'll keep our focus on the next two games and then announce everything shortly thereafter.

My guess would be Monday or Tuesday next week.

I've seen 3 conflicting rumours going around, here is each scenario:

1. It will be announced before the game (running out of time, looking highly unlikely).
2. It will be announced after the game (as in tonight, not sure when still).
3. It will be announced tomorrow (things will be finalised tonight, Van Gaal goes off to do his national team work after).

I'd quite like it to be announced live at Old Trafford right after the game myself, farewell speeches etc. followed by "please welcome your new Manager, Louis van Gaal" or something along them lines.

Wouldn't mind betting he will be spotted in the crowd tonight either.

Moyes obviously didn't feel he really belonged here. What he ended up doing what some wierd mix between doing it his way (which he had to develop because what he did at Everton was partly irelevant) and doing it the Fergie way. No wonder he got lost. Van Gaal won't have such issues, he'll do it his way. Which from everything I know and read about can be a great success or a great disaster, but has a good chance of leaving us with a good basis for the next manager. Which is what we need, really. Someone to really change the direction of the team fooballing wise and move on from the Fergie way, even if it isn't a long term appointment.

Very nice.

I'd say if any of the dutch squad steals the show at the WC then there's a good chance they'll end up here, Robben apart. I can't think of many potential names though. Is there any potential midfielders in the Netherlands team?

Giggs starting with Januzaj and Lawrence on the wings. Both tricky players who don't rely on power and pace. Imagine that

Giggs was asked what he knew about van Gaal and the future of the club, he replied with stating he didn't know.

RVP just gave interview saying "we will be back next season, trust me, trust me". With a big smile on his face.

Was LVG in charge of Bayern when they knocked us out in the UCL back in 09/10?

:) He'll stay and with Van Gaal in I think he'll be back to his best. Hopefully they manage to work on his training schedule and unlike Moyes I'm sure LvG will understand that he should be managed differently.

OMG What is going on ?? I'm cross.. Is he ever coming ?

So what happened to yestersay's papers saying he would be announced today? Hope we announce it tomorrow morning!!!

Ogden went on TalkSport just now and said he could be announced in the next 24/48 hours. That is what he said yesterday too.

No europa league and no CL pretty much guarantees us a better opportunity to win something due to more time improving the team, instead of preparing for matches.

The media are running the stories as if Van Gaal to us has already been confirmed. Worst kept secret?

Is tomorrow Van Gaal day?

Like Ronaldo day but not as big a hit with the ladies in his pants.
