So could we line up like this next season?

---------------De Gea---------------
Rafael--Smalling--Jones--Evans--Evra
-----Carrick----Mata----Fellaini----
-------------RVP----Rooney-------------

????

No because you've got Fellaini in there.

He's a football manager, not the reincarnation of Jesus, he can't turn shit into gold.

Xavi and Casillas are finished BUT......Very very excited about LVG as our new manager.....For what Moyes spent on 2 players last season - LVG could buy that whole bloody dutch team apart from Robben for the same amount
We defo have the right guy in charge this time...can't wait for season to start and players are gonna want to come and play for LVG now after tonight

LvG usualy doesn't play 5-3-2. I think it's his preferred formation for the Dutch national team because of their material.

With the players we have, I'm pretty sure that we will play 4-3-3 most of the time next season.

Never wanted Mourinho at our club due to his anti-football. Van Gaal's footballing philosophy and tactical acumen fits United like a Glove. He was always my choice to manage us.

Amazing!! He could get the best out of his players against Spain. You know.. we might don't need a lot of players after all. LVG might turns Young, Valencia, Nani, Fellaini and Cleverley into world beaters.
And we don't play Spain over 38 league matches so I'm now a bit more confident about our chances this term . Because if he can do this to Spain imagine what he can do to PL teams out of the top five !

If he can beat Spain with a midfield consisting of de Guzman, de Jong and a past it Sneijder..
Our midfield looks Barcelonasque on their best compared to that trio.

We'll win UCL next season

Aah. . He maybe able to beat Spain but can he make Ando into a world beater? That would be LVG's pinnacle!

That with Cleverley instead of Fellaini (ideally a new signing).

I would like to see that next season, Rafael is made for that role.

I was shocked he brought on Winaldum, a 50 pound #10 to play CM when they were up 3-1, but it worked well and showed that even when he's playing on the counter, he values technical skills. Wonderful stuff.

This rather unglamorous dutch squad seems to suit Van Gaal. They seem to completely buy into his system, no ego issues and they have a great team ethic. Luckily, our squad isn't exactly the most glamorous at the moment ;)

I'm exciting right now. But I still won't put my hope a lot if we fail to sign at least one quality midfield. League games is totally different with cup or world cup. The players need to be more consistent.

RVP after the match: "The victory is earned by the merits of van Gaal. This is his tactic, he predicted exactly how it would play out."

Woodward out.

The future's bright. Van Gaal looks exciting, definitely.

It was also pleasing how Costa, Fabregas, Torres, Azpilicueta and Silva were all rendered useless today. Well, Azpilicueta probably had an okay game, but Van Gaal and his men siomply cancelled out the rest.

Well, that was fun wasn't it :D

Must try not to get too giddy too soon, but I wouldn't be too upset if we played like Holland did tonight.

Van Gaal will get to us at least 4th even with no new signings, he'll get the best out of Van Persie and Mata (maybe Kagawa and Januzaj aswell). Funny feeling that he'll feck Rooney off.

If we can get Shaw sorted quick, and then a genuine world class defender and midfielder in I think we can win the league. Another winger would be useful aswell.

No Europe means fresh legs for the weekends. The way Holland were attacking until the 90th minute then was like watching a 97-2001 United team. No reasons why we can't play at that high tempo.

I know but this guy knows his stuff and I'm sure he will be able to identify a few good players, from his Dutch side and those he will face or already knows about, that could make the difference . What is clear is that we can expect a huge improvement from some of the players we already have . That plus a few new signings ought to be enough .

If Holland keeps this up, players are going to be begging to play for us. Transfers will take care of themselves.

I have this intense urge to say we won't need signings because van Gaal's system will be in place BUT we do need some help. 2-3 good signings plus his system and we can challenge for the title next season. We need to bring the PL trophy back to Old Trafford where it belongs.

Good point!

Vidal: "Hey did you see what Holland done to Spain?"
Robben: "Course I did I scored 2 of the goals".
Kroos: "That was one hell of a game, does he always get you guys playing that well?"
Van Persie: "Yeah, of course, stupid question."
Kroos: "Hey Arturo, you thinking of joing United or what?"
Vidal: "Ja! Naturlich!"
Kroos: "I see what you did there, me too I hope! Robben, you coming?"
Robben: "What's left of my hair is standing on end, course I am!".

What do you think would have happened today had Moyes managed the Netherlands?
He'd have got Fellaini a dutch passport somehow and would have lined up with only 2 players in the team, playing a 1-0-1 system with Fellaini up front and Daley Blind as the only defender under strict orders to hoof the ball up as high and hard through the skies as he can hit it in the hope that it will somehow land on Fellaini and bounce into the goal

LvG can even predict a keeper feck up and heavy touch now, he's that good...
