"Van Gaal is David Moyes +£150million"
Rooney was all about acceleration at his best. He was quicker and more of a physical irritant to deal with than Ronaldo at his [Wayne's] peak. Unfortunately he cannot do that anymore.

Not comparing Wayne to the Ronaldo of now, of course.
True I guess but I also can't see Robben joining us any time soon. Maybe Sanchez as you said but will we get him?
I just hope LvG goes all the way in this World Cup and is able to draw players to the club.
8 goals in two games. Bodes well.
Funny how i see quite a few ppl mentioning "so LVG isn't that good after all" in the match thread.
I'd like to see any manager play with championship players and 3 world class players and demolish spain and win vs that Aussie team.
Exactly. And Sneijder has been pretty bad too. So it's essentially been RvP and Robben as the only main threat so far.
Who is the third? There are only two.Funny how i see quite a few ppl mentioning "so LVG isn't that good after all" in the match thread.

While enjoying working under Deschamps at international level, Evra says he is also looking forward to welcoming Dutch coach Louis van Gaal to Manchester United next season – having penned a new one-year deal at Old Trafford.
He added: “Van Gaal is a great coach.
“Robin van Persie tells me he’s very disciplined, and I like discipline, like we had with Sir Alex Ferguson.”

I don't think you're reading too much into it at all.Interesting tidbit from Evra:

Reading way too much into things (a neccesary requirement on the Caf) interesting choice of words from our Paddy. He's insinuating that there was no discipline under Moyes? Or any discipline he tried to instill wasn't respected by the players?
Well I found it interesting anyway.

World class? That's cutting it.Sneijder?
Not even 3. Just 2.Funny how i see quite a few ppl mentioning "so LVG isn't that good after all" in the match thread.

Yep and tbh the two goals Holland conceded were a wonder goal and a wrongly given penalty kick. Even against Spain the only goal Holland conceded was a result of Costa's cheating.Dutch defence is their weakest area. It's hardly a surprise that they concede. You can't blame Van Gaal for that. Their best defender is Ron fecking Vlaar.

Considering the fact that Holland had never beaten Australia, I'd say it's a brilliant achievement that LvG got his squad to win against the Aussies. They are a tough team to beat and that was proved yesterday.Funny how i see quite a few ppl mentioning "so LVG isn't that good after all" in the match thread.

Seriously are people moaning that they didn't beat Australia 5-1?
The Dutch had never beaten Australia. Australia in terms of sports are one of the most competitive and you'd rarely see them get thrashed. They should have got a point against Chile.
Even England struggle when we play Australia at football. They just one of those countries you don't want to play against.

I always got the feeling that it was the latter.
Happens a lot. You see it with players.....they miss a couple of easy chances and they're useless, score a couple of goals and then they're the best in the world.I'm not sure how many of you were reading the Australia vs Netherlands thread, it started off as praise for Louis before the game started only for people to start criticising him as the first half neared the end and then from Hero to Zero in one Australian goal, allbeit an unfortunate penalty.
Probably a sign of things to come, especially considering his teams (from what I understand) get off to a slow start due to the time required for his ideas to be grasped.
Yup. If van Gaal can improve our offensive output even in the slightest I'll be delighted.
The real positive from a good Dutch WC is that the media will start the season with a high opinion of him, as opposed to the criticism they'd be lining up if Netherlands had bombed out in the group stages. I guess it'll give extra confidence to our more impressionable supporters too.
Beyond that though we're not really going to learn anything about LVG that wasn't already evident from the his last two decades as a manger. His strengths and weaknesses are well documented at this stage.

I don't mind that. Although in 2012/13 we had that philosophy too much. Can't deal with the bloody stress of that. With Van Gaal, 'We will outscore our opponent' feeling will be back.
Tbh I'm impressed by Chile team more than Holland. Yes Ned won Spain by a larger margin but In the first half, Spain had 2-3 clear chances to swing the game in their favor, they didn't really play well and RvP& Robben's goals were just unbelievable. Chile was just better than Spain in every way, numbers don't reflect the whole picture but don't get me wrong I ain't discrediting LvG, in fact his half time talk changed everything, the man clearly know what he's doing.
Anyway, It'll be very impressive if LvG can beat Chile in the next round but it won't change my opinion toward him if he fails. Judging him after a few matches is just absurd , also Holland w/o Rvp and Robben is just an average side.
Because I ain't talking about 2nd half nor stupid ref' decisions. The point is Spain was the better side before RvP's goal, they could have done something different in that first half but in Chile match, they were completely beaten. I agree with Mourinho here, Chile is the most impressive team in this group ...so far. We'll see in the next roundYou might want to add Sneijder's chance which was pretty much the best chance of the match, Diego Costa's insane dive and Diego Costa's 100% red card.
