Alexis Sanchez, Arsenal Player

Cracking player great signing for the Arse. Not sure why we didn't go for him 28m is a bargain in this day and age.

You don't half talk a lot of bollocks about Arsenal. You're preaching from the 2007 manual of Arsenal cliches.

We literally don't have a single natural left-sided player. Sanchez changes that.
Naturally left sided? I don't think I've ever seen him play there. He's always on the right. Özil plays on the left-ish side of the the pitch.

Jack's only 22 and has had the best part of the last 2 years ruined by injury (looked at one time as if his career was over). If he can get and stay fit he'll be a great player (see Ramsey).
I remember when I was saying this to myself for Anderson. Later 22 became 24, 25 etc.

Ramsey is and has always been the better player. And will continue to be. Wilshere is the typical overrated English player that after a good gae or two becomes a 50m player. See Barkley. On no wait, it was Rodwell.

Never seen him on left side too. And have watched him on Udinese, Barca and of course Chile.

He has been so on the last 4 years. Anderson MK2.

He is still only 22 and missed a full season and a bit due to injury not long ago, not to mention numerous others. He's been pretty damn unlucky.

Fair play, Arsenal. They've finally seen that signings are required to build a decent team/squad and they are making serious ones.

Now if only we could do the same..

Did Wilshere do that thing where he dribbles the ball into the other teams defenders, loses the ball and then falls over before all his injury problems?

Well, you're a poor judge of a player then, you can't play CM if you blow up after 60 mins (unless you're called Yaya). Jack has all the tools to be a great CM, just needs to stay fit.
Ando had all the tools too. I am not saying that Wilshere will be as bad as Ando, but I don't think that he will ever become near as good as the midfielder he was hyped to bee. Probably on the same level as Henderson, and that is being generous.

After this signing, Arsenal are only a few additions away from mounting a sustained title challenge - injuries permitting. Excellent business.

A DM being worked on next, I'd imagine.

I'm just so glad that even if this forum will never bring themselves to accept it, we're back amongst the big-boys in the European elite and can now compete for the top players on the market.

We're only going up now. No more agonising over whether we can fund a £4m bid for Mark Schwartzer.

Exciting time to be a Gooner.

If someone told me a year ago that we'd be signing Ozil and Sanchez in the next year I'd have laughed hard.... And then had a cry-wank over the thought.

No you really really aren't.

Walcott----Ozil------Cazorla

Damn..

Great signing for Arsenal, a statement of intent of similar magnitude to the Özil last year.

I'm not sure why we weren't in the mix here, unless he preferred Arsenal, but hopefully LvG has a plan!

I think he meant just in terms of competing for the top players. As long as you arent too picky about positions, Real Madrid and Barcelona have quite a turnover of good players and Arsenal are exploiting that.

To be honest, I'm still not so sure that they could compete with the biggest clubs and attract the worlds best players.

Both Özil and Sanchez sort of fell into their laps since both of their clubs wanted them gone. It's not like Arsenal went to these two players when they were happy and wanted by their clubs and convinced them to join. They were both players who Barca/Madrid were in a hurry to get rid of to make way for Suarez/Bale.

If a highly coveted player became available that was wanted by all of the biggest clubs in the world I still have a hard time believing Arsenal would be able to compete with Bayern/Barca/Madrid/United/Chelsea.

Fair play to Arsenal. Over to Liverpool, City and United to make a big signing now!

Same was said last year when they signed Ozil. And they improved a lot from the previous season....

Bloke on talk sports convinced Arsenal will run away with the league

With the calibre of player they are looking likely to acquire, they really do have a shot next season. Of course, a lot hinges on injuries.
Every team has injuries, Arsenal as well. It's always the excuse. They haven't mounted a challenge for 9 years. Yes Sanchez is very good signing, but their defence and GK is still the same. In the last five seasons in all but one case they have conceded 40 or more goals in the league.

We hear every year that Arsenal will be contenders and their challenge usually falls short come February. Until there is something more substantial than signing one player I'm not so sure that they will be 1st or 2nd in May...

You actually made my day. Thank you so much

Arse signing a quality player from one of the big two Spanish clubs for huge money is a sure sign that....

Top 4 is nailed on anyway, Gooners.

Arse supporters said the same when you signed Ozil last year. And you finished on fourth place again.

You're the permanent fourth best team of England.

Ozil was a start, and you forget that our transfer window last year was actually very poor. We missed out on a lot of targets and really cocked it all up. Gazidis appears to be correcting that this time around.

And position is really a poor indicator on last season. We finished 4th, but about 15 points closer to the title than the year before. That's what matters.
