Alexis Sanchez, Arsenal Player

Well, if they keep signing players of the quality of Ozil and Sanchez I'd slowly start worrying.

Ozil who boosted them for a short time then had a fairly underwhelming season you mean? :p

Sanchez won't solve their problems either tbh, he isn't enough of an out & out goalscorer for what they badly need and tbh he just gives them better wide options, which whilst good hardly makes the current Arsenal team title winners.

It's not enough to put 11 players on the pitch that look good on paper. Look at Athletico team in comparison to Barca. Has anyone thought that they can win La Liga with Barca and Real? It's not enough just to sign couple of top class players to be in the mix. Ozil hasn't worked as he was supposed has he?

They have injuries, so all other teams, it's not like we hadn't played Carrick in defence numerous times and still managed to win it all.

Arsenal record against sides that have won the title in the last 9 years and since City takeover:

Against Chelsea:
4 wins, 4 draws, 14 losses.

Against United:
4 wins, 5 draws, 13 losses.

Against City after takeover:

3 wins 4 draws 7 losses

18% win percentage.

Just saying...

Are you comparing Arsenal to City? How is that remotely a level playing field when the latter stormed into the league with billions, overspent and overpaid players to get them to join and they eventually won the league? Arsenal didn't suddenly have the money to buy these top players, they built a new stadium and negotiated new money deals to get them back to their spending ways. How can you throw City into that mix is baffling

He scored 19 and assisted 10 in the league alone from a wide position last season. Those are some serious numbers.

-----------Khedira-----Ramsey-----------
-Sanchez---------Ozil------------Carzola-
-----------------Campbell----------------------

That's a solid attack, I think Wenger really wants that title now. It will depend on if they can add to Sanchez and maybe bring in a top centre forward. Another thing, Arsenal need to improve on their record against the top 5/6 teams, they end up dropping a lot of points.

I'd be amazed if Campbell manages to displace Giroud. Not that I rate Giroud. A few hard working performances for your country don't really prove more than desire and a lack of fear. Good attributes to build on but I think he's a way short overall, as yet.

Barça was desperate to sell him

He is a good player, we'll see.

There's no way Campbell will be our starting CF.
You really do need one but it's hard to think who would do the job. Giroud and Campbell would be pretty good options, I think, provided you have a main man ahead of them in the pecking order.

People seem to think Sanchez will become a CF; we haven't been linked particularly strongly with anyone, other than Remy occasionally.

Suppose sticking someone up front that's more used to playing as a winger worked alright with that French bloke you had, a while back.

Your post actually looks a bit more baffling. If they're discussing Arsenal's chances of winning the PL, who is he supposed to compare Arsenal with? Tottenham?

This isn't a FFP discussion. Fair or not, it's with those clubs and Liverpool that Arsenal will be competing.

Alexis at Barcelona can't play his game. Too little freedom and spaces. He should do much better at Arsenal.

Yeah cos that's what I said.

you suggested he can do at least as well as he did for Barcelona (he won't, at all) then you claimed Messi nicked 40 goals from him, which is beyond absurd, so by your own logic he can score 59+ goals this season, so like I said, I look forward to seeing this (or more likely quoting you here at the end of the season to laugh in your face)

Messi didn't nick 40 goals from Sanchez, the point is that the majority of Barcelona's attack goes through him, which is why since he's been their main man only Eto'o in 2009 scored over 20 goals in the league. Henry, Villa, Ibrahimovic, Pedro, Neymar etc haven't been able to crack the 20 mark. So what I'm saying is Sanchez could be a real threat for Arsenal even though our team isn't as good as Barca.

To interpret that as me saying Sanchez is going to score 59 goals is either wilfully missing the point, or you're a twerp.

So in other words - you're an idiot.

(.... well not really, but you can't comprehend what he was saying at least)

Ooooh suits yooou, sir!

He isn't in Shaw or Herrera's class.

Handsomeness wise.

They're both pretty plain. Sanchez isn't conventionally handsome, but he's pretty sexy, especially when he pulls his shorts up.

That's your gooner bias talking. Luke Shaw looks like Ryan Gosling ffs!

I could see Campbell starting against teams that use high lines. He looks dangerous on the counter and Giroud's best attributes (link play, aerial threat) are more useful when Arsenal have the ball, have forced teams deep and are trying to break their opponents down.

Potentially. I'd imagine if he is in the first team plans it will be largely off the bench though.

Brilliant signing for the gooners. I hope we have someone else in mind for the wing because missing out in a 35m Sanchez is rather sad!

I'm 95% sure Sanchez played exclusively on the right for Barcelona, and occasionally through the middle when Messi was fecked. Also, if you expect him to expand upon the numbers he put up at Barca last year, dream on. He had 19 and 10, I think I read? If he gets 19 and 10 in the PL I'll be quite amazed. The difference between his play for Barcelona and Chile isn't his productivity but the amount of dribbles he does and the looseness of his position. He likes to throw some tricks in for Chile but doesn't run with the ball as much with Barca. You could argue he's better off playing like he did at Barca if he's that productive doing it.

To be fair, stats at Madrid and Barca can be very misleading. 4 out of every 5 games they play are massacres. The gulf between them and the rest of the league is ludicrous.

Yes but he did have better stats than Neymar, Benzema and Bale last season.

He doesn't have a good enough first touch to play alongside Messi, Iniesta, Alves, Neymar etc

That was clear before they signed him, and now this is the reason they have sold him

Sanchez is a great singing for Arsenal. I'm disappointed he turned us down (If that is true) due to lack of Champions League.

Ah well, at least it makes the Premier League more competitive. Arsenal are starting to get a pretty decent team together.

Surely they're going to sell one of their wingers now? Or are they going to play him CF?
