Where did you hear this? Moyes went on holiday for most of June and as far as I understand this was one of the reasons he joined on the 1st of July. There was also the matter he was still under contract with Everton but I am 100% sure he said he needed a holiday to prepare to take over here. What a ridiculous comment.
Moyes took over on July 1st last season in his official capacity. It was well documented that he'd been working behind the scenes preparing for his new role once Everton's season was done, too.
Id actually prefer him to take a week off. Starting at Carrington in a few days sounds exhausting after the world cup.
I don't think he needs it tbh, he had a nice break in May when he went to Portugal with his wife. He'll get a proper summer holiday next year.

Good point! He had a holiday before the World Cup.
Lazy bastard!![]()
He's had three years generally doing very little. He's not going to need a holiday after a few weeks.
He went to Portugal with the Dutch NT i believe..lol
That article is the end of June for a start...Sorry mate but thats bullshit.
What exactly was he working behind the scenes on? Have you any proof of this? His tan (flaky sunburn) was probably the extent of it.
At the time everyone was saying its ok that hes on a 5 week holiday because he could be working behind the scenes with Woodward by phone/e-mail on transfers. Well guess what he wasn't, he strolled in on july 1st and only then did we start to make bids on players. Thats a fact we made our first bid for a player, Baines at the start of july.

After working on a relatively small budget at Everton, in my opinion he thought he would go off and have a big long holiday for over a month and then just swan in and use United's money to sign Fabregas, Baines & Fellaini without much fuss, when what he should have been doing was working hard on scouting & preparing for the biggest opportunity of his career.
Dithering Dave is a moniker well earned.
Contrast that to Van Gaal coming off a busy schedule at a world cup and going straight into the job at United, no need for fecking about on holidays when theres work to be done as it should be.

Do you have any proof he did no work before July 1st?
Clearly he'd had his meetings with Woodward and co, and the fact we bid for players before he officially started shows targets had been identified. There's not a lot more he could've done than leave it to the club to get on with their job of recruiting players.

You don't have to tell me how shit Moyes is. I've just yet to see the evidence that backs up this popular opinion that he didn't bother doing anything until July and took a luxury extended holiday for the fun of it after being given the biggest job of his career, which subsequently had a negative effect on his time here. I could be wrong. Seems to me he was just out of his depth in everything he did after that.
The first International break is usually only 2-3 games into the season. He might head off for a short break then.
Sorry mate but thats bullshit.

Yup. The difference in mentalities is pretty staggering I think.Rewind a year and you have Moyes the grafter taking a month holiday before starting the job. Just saying.

Didn't he actually take a holiday before the world cup? I thought he had been at his villa in Portugal having a holiday.Id actually prefer him to take a week off. Starting at Carrington in a few days sounds exhausting after the world cup.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has heaped praise on new Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, revealing that he believes the Dutchman was the best coach at the World Cup this summer.
The World Cup final takes place on Sunday which will be between Germany and Argentina, however, Netherlands have attracted widespread praise for their valiant efforts this summer.
The Oranje went into the tournament with low expectations, but they proved a lot of people wrong with their brave tactics and attacking prowess. They were hugely unfortunate to exit the competition, losing on penalties to Argentina in the semi-final, however, van Gaal’s side defeated Brazil in the third place play-off to claim third spot.
Mourinho believes while there has been many good managers in Brazil this summer, van Gaal has been number one for him due to the way he has led the Dutch.
Mourinho told reporters : “Vahid [Halilhodzic], [Miguel] Herrera, [Jorge] Sampaoli, [Jorge Luis] Pinto, Jurgen [Klinsmann], [Jose] Pekerman – all of them [have been] fantastic.
“But if I had to choose one, because I think he did a fantastic job with a team that, in my opinion, was not strong enough to reach where they got to, I would choose Louis van Gaal.”

I'd say it doesn't get any more demanding than the World Cup. I agree that he will be fine without a break though.Van Gaal doesn't need a break, international football is not as demanding as club football time/workload wise. Get him through the door asap and start working with the players.
