Arturo Vidal

I think he mentioned Real because he's been linked with them in the past, I don't think they are currently in the running for him. Madrid are more likely to go for Pogba or Ramires, one of Ancelotti's favourites.

If he doesn't want to come to United, then I say it's best to end our interest, grit our teeth for a few months and maybe go for Strootman.

Vidal is not going to Real Madrid. This should not be up for discussion. Juventus, Bayern or Manchester United so far seems like the only plausible option. I do not believe he is coming here because we already sign Herrera and Van Gaal from recent memory always seem to play with a number 6 in his system. Even with three in the back, he still had a number 6 in his Dutch squad. Unless, Herrera or Vidal is willing to change their style of play, I can not seem him coming here.

Of the quality number 6 players available, Strootman and Carvalho seem more realistic.

It'd be absolutely crazy to pass up an opportunity to sign him.

It's interesting what's going on with the club. They obviously don't want the media speculating about it. Andy Mitten said there was contact one day, and the next day he backtracked and said there was none. His sources obviously told him in the first place. With Vidal confirming that there was some kind of contact, it appears that the club and desperately trying to keep whatever they are doing, or not doing, extremely quiet.

We have literally no midfielders, at this rate we won't have anyone bar Herrera on the opening game. We can't just wait for Strootman.

For those who think Vidal to Madrid - maybe you would like to take a bite out of the 22/1 that SkyBet has on offer...

Is it unreasonable to suggest that we were interested but then became aware Madrid want him? Would explain the club briefing the media that he's no longer on "the list."

Pretty sure that's exactly what happened Kroos abduction it's nite unreasonable to think it's happened again here.

Madrid selling Khedira and Di Maria and buying Rodriguez, Vidal and Kroos wouldn't even be one of there more outrageous Summers in terms of net spend.

If Madrid are in for him then it's obviously game over for us.

They'll sell Morata and probably Isco too. Assuming €20m for Isco €20m for Morata, €25m for Khedira and €50m for Di Maria (all realistic figures) and spending €20m on Kroos, €65m on Rodriguez and €40m on Vidal they will have spent €10m net.

I don't think they are selling Isco and the price for Morata being quoted is €18m. Also Monaco will probably want more for Rodriguez.

£142,300,000 not including a 4th unknown price is crazy money.
35 Million eachother season and then
£194,500,000 in the Ronaldo year.

Now Vidal too? Surely there is someone out there that says, 150Million, 150million (4 years) and 200 Million is FAR too much money for a 5 year window. 500 Million in 5 years is disgusting, how can anyone expect to keep up with that?

Cleverley and Fletcher are literally midfielders. Fellaini, as shit as he has been for us so far is a midfielder. I wouldn't put it past Van Gaal giving Pereira or Pearson their chances.

It would be absolutely great if Vidal wanted to come and we get him in, but it won't be the end of the world if he doesn't come. Van Gaal got Holland 3rd in the World Cup after losing a key midfielder in Strootman. Hope he can do something similar with us.

He won't go to Madrid. Real have been openly interested in the past, but have bought a fair few big money midfielders since then.

I imagine he was referencing previous rumours by mentioning Real.

Gazetta reporting Juve are trying to sign a midfielder from Udinese, either loan or outright...

If Rodriguez arrives it's a tricky one. As good as both Modric and Kroos are, I'm not sure that's remotely good enough defensively against a top side. Would probably spell the end for Isco if Rodriguez arrived too.

Its not a problem they seem to think about. The manager gets given a load of stars and told to make it work. If not, then he's sacked.

Isco needs to move on anyway for me - he could be a start somewhere else. Its not as if he'd ever likely get a regular spot even in a few years because no doubt they'd have bought the latest flavour of the month.

Peireira a midfielder from Udinese is arriving on loan at Juve according to Italian media...

If Real Madrid were interested, you can guarantee the likes of Marca would explode and write a hundred articles about him, which they haven't.

Twitter is full of fake bbc accounts from scousers announcing deals. Is there no end to their sadness?

His basically asking us to bid for him we'd be stupid not to.

If Madrid are in for him then it's obviously game over for us.

If Madrid buy him, we should be first in line to buy Illaramendi. Very promising DM. 2 footed. Basically another Carrick.

Also knows Herrera. Madrid will probably sell him for €15m.

I take your point but I can't help but think these interviews / answers are just a way of trying to drum up more interest and create an auction. Now I'm not saying he shouldn't be doing that (from his pov) - obviously he wants to get the most cash, but from our point of view I can't see how we would be happy with him running his mouth.

If he really wanted to sign I'm sure he wouldn't have mentioned Madrid in his latest interview - and if Mitten is to be believed (which seems to be the case on here) then we will target players who want to play for Utd - not someone who is interested in name dropping to make more money.
He's not going around asking to talk to the media, or taking calls while on a secluded beach somewhere. The interviews seem to be at events. At least one interview came at a Colo Colo game where he was honored. The latest ones he was at the opening of an athletic complex, apparently for kids (at least there's a picture of him at the event with a few dozen kids). It would also make sense if one or two of the other interviews were leading up to/promoting the opening of this athletic complex.

I think it's just that he's not hiding out on a beach somewhere like his countryman, Sanchez (and I don't mean to put down Sanchez relaxing on a beach, at all). After the World Cup, he basically has a month to spend in his home country, and he seems to be taking advantage of that, visiting his old club, helping the community, etc.

I don't see the point in madrid going for him. They have kroos, Alonso, khedira and modric battling it out for two spots.

Now you've just reminded me how shit it was that we didn't end up with Robben or Sneijder at a massive discount when selling Ronaldo to them.
