Arturo Vidal

I don't know but either way it's not much to go by. The Sun, Daily Mail and Daily Mirror are the UK's most read papers yet they spout endless rubbish.

Yeah but Gazzetta is not a tabloid, its a well known sports paper. Maybe some italian caftard could confirm it.

Gazzetta is a paper from Milano and links our best players away all the time. If it was up to them, we would have sold Vidal and Pogba in every single transfer window since they signed for us. It's a daily sports paper. You cannot fill dozens of papers related to football with actual news every day, especially in off-season. Of course, that does not mean that nothing is going on. There is reason enough to speculate. But I would not take Gazzetta's word as something that substantially increases the probability of this transfer to happen.

More likely that Juve need time to bring players in, which will also help break the blow for some very disappointed and pissed off Juve fans. Putting a bit of time between this and Conte leaving will only help too.

Its good to see we are being this accommodating with Juventus now, after we win the title next season it'll make it easier to get Pogba next summer :)

€6m/year = £90k per week right?
Is this after tax?

180 k a week. I think thats easy for us since rio/vida/evra/ giggs are all of the payroll and young will be soon off it too(i pray every day, god's got to listen right.......RIGHT?).

£39million seems like a fair price involving all parties, But would this make Vidal the most expensive CM in history? My memory eludes me right now.

Zidane was more over a decade ago, also from Juve.

This guy sticking his neck out again.

He's a hero to muppets. Reading his page, he reckons Vidal AND Hummels are coming.

The Evra deal does seem to be remarkably long winded though. That's the one hope that it's somehow linked to Vidal.

Maybe, which seems amazing given how vital a position it is. I guess it really is goalscoring that people pay the biggest bucks for.

If you count Fabregas as a CM transfer (which arguably he wasn't, since the buying club, Barcelona, didn't see him as one), he'd probably be the most expensive. If not... maybe Modric for £33.something?

Yes. Next most expensive CM is still Juan Sebastian Veron. :D

Veron really wasn't a CM either though like Zidane though they could play deeper as well.

Anyway, there are a few above him now in the Mid to low 30 mark. Witsel for one ? Illaramendi, Fabregas, Martinez and Ferandinho as well ?

All the Italian press are linking him away....

Depends on what currency one is using :

Veron is still untouched at € 45m.
Modric is second at € 42m.
Witsel to Zenit was € 40m in a double € 80m deal with Hulk.
Fernandinho to City was € 40m.
Fabergas to Barcelona was also € 40m.
Fellaini runs them pretty close at € 34m.

United do have a penchant for smashing midfielder transfer records. :D

EDIT : Veron was a CM too man. He played there for Lazio and Argentina before United. Sort of like a pseudo-regista position.

Ok let me compile all the evidence so far that we are going to sign Vidal:

-Italian papers reporting we are interested and Juve will sell at the right price( including Juve mouthpiece Tuttosport)

-Chilean reports that we are very interested and Vidal wants the move.

-Vidal himself has spoken three times without commiting to Juve, name checked us twice, and even said (paraphrasing) I will be happy to stay at Juve if United deal falls through. Can a player be more obvious than this while still contracted to Juve.

-Most reliable United source Andy Mitten says we are very interested.

-Emmet Kennedy who called the RVP transfer 5 days before it happened and before anyone else and hasn't said a word about any of our transfers since, is sure it will happen.

- The Evra deal was reportedly completed weeks ago but still hasn't been announced.

-Vidal is reportedly preparing to sell his house.

-Beppe Moratta (Juve CEO) says Juve do not want to sell Vidal but move is up to the player.

- Juve director Pavel Nedved says Juve would sell if they recieved a high bid.

-Delay in transfer happening may be due to Juve trying to bring in signings before he goes, Juve saving face and recovering from Conte departure, giving Allegri time to settle in and of course Vidal being on holiday.

EDIT:Forget to mention Van Gaal saying Vidal is a very good player sometime before the world cup( can't remember clearly) AND name checking him in his pre-match conference before Mexico match when talking about the match against Chile despite the fact Vidal played no part in that game.

Ok some of that may be bullshit or coincidence but that is a hell of a lot of smoke. I for one am extremely confidant we will sign him shortly after he returns from holidays.

Here's the report from Chilean paper El Mercurio, thanks to a user on Reddit:

Tiny note on the left: "Arturo Vidal has sold his house in Turin, according to the Italian press."

Note above the "title" of the article: "The Chilean is the Red Devils' obsession"

Title: "Manchester United offers Vidal the same salary as Van Persie's".

Below the title: "The Dutchman earns $18M a year. Juventus hopes that the British club pays $67M for the midfielder, although the state of his knee remains a concern."

Actual article: "While Manchester United begins a tour in Los Angeles, United States, the executives of the English club work fully in order to sign the players that new manager, Louis van Gaal, wants.

In this list, one of the priorities is Chilean, Arturo Vidal. And to sign him, the Red Devils are willing to offer him, AT LEAST , the same salary as Robin van Persie's: $18 million per year.

The English club's intention is to rapidly agree to a deal with the player, even before reaching one with Juventus, who owns his pass. To do this, the English club is willing to exceed the salary that the world class Chilean midfielder earns in Italy's most popular club.

After renewing his contract until 2017, Vidal became the highest earner at the club from Turin, with revenues reaching $15M for season.

If a deal is agreed, "King Arturo" would become, alongside the Dutchman, the second highest earner at the Red Devils. The highest earner is Wayne Rooney, who after renewing his contract, now receives $27M per year.

The main obstacle is another one. Apart from the $67M that Juventus set as a price to sell him - although the sporting director Giuseppe Marotta said that "the player is not for sale", Juve need cash - the status of Arturo Vidal's operated knee remains a worry for Manchester.

There's more. Officials from the Red Devils have made various calls to doctors from the Chilean national team in order to know the truth about the status of Vidal's lateral meniscus, where he was operated on the 7th of May and also about his participation in the World Cup.

Regardless, the star from la Roja has already shown some signs that he will not remain in la "Vecchia Signora", because, according to the Italian press, "Celia Punk" [A nickname for Vidal, apparently], has sold the house in which he resided in Turin and in all statements he has made after the World Cup, he has avoided ratifying his continuity in the Italian champion."

Gray note below the article: "$27 million is the current salary of Englishman Wayne Rooney at Manchester United. He is the highest earner of the team."

+ Juventus are buying a few players at the moment (They are in the red zone....so they are needing the money of a Vidal or Pogba sale)

I'm just wondering why people want De Jong? He didn't seem to offer anything at the world cup and failed at Manchester City, I am missing something here?

That's basically the inner workings of my head for the last few days. I can feel it in my ovaries. Matter of time.
