You think now 10 years as a professional footballer Valencia had been told to look before he shoots
Valencia always has his head down when runs with ball, Not surprised he always goes for power when through on goal rather than placement. That's why he's so dependent on using his pace and power rather than trying to dribble..

Same can be said for Young whenever he crosses, too.

Ive never seen Valencia place a shot in my life, or a pass for that matter, everything is drilled

Plus add-ons?! Wow!

He is a barcelona fan who has a superiority complex. Barca always bark about making players and madrid buying stars, when barca have actually bought stars too. This is his way of saying look real paid more for jamez than we did for suarez. If suarez has a good season he will bring out his tweets in victory.

Valencia is going to be LVG's favorite too isn't he? You can just tell.

IF we want Strootman and our future plans involve him, surely it'd be a better idea to buy him now and then let our staff work him through his injury.

Be interesting to see that formation. With the personnel a 442 cold easily be adopted.
Not about formation, more about the system. The three in the middle is the key. It is usually box to box-dlp-Att mid for Lvg. I presume it goes this way

Fletcher - Box to box -our de jong
Mata - Attack mid - Our sniejder
Herrera - Deep lying playmaker - netherlands lacked quality here

Welbeck - plays the robben role
Rooney - van persie's role

Obviously the players have different qualities, there will be tweaks but the formation doesnt matter its the system of possession based, fast football.

I agree, plus it will be near impossible to get Roma to sell in January.

Or he could never return to his best and we waste the best part of 30m on a crock. I'd rather wait to see if he returns as the player he was.

3-5-2 seems like a good answer to the Mata/Rooney/Van Persie conundrum. Seems like a good way of getting the most from the likes of Carrick, Herrera, Valencia, Rafael and Shaw too. Even Kagawa would fit in decently there.

Also marginalises Young.

Win-win formation really.

Way too risky, with such a serious injury!

Hopefully. Problem is our defence. We've got three first team centrebacks at the moment, with Keane breaking through as a possible fourth. The former three have had terrible injury records over the last few seasons. Definitely need some reinforcement there, and with the latest set of linked names to United being all defenders there might be something in it.

Welbeck would lose out though :( Presumably RVP would replace him once he's back anyway. Unless LVG needs the pace of Welbeck in that system.

Did he got the World Cup? If he did that explains it, he'll be on extended leave and return same time as RVP

Nope. He's been dumped from the Brazil team since the 2012 Olympics.

Was thinking the same really, just need cover at CB desperately if United are to go with 3 per game.

No he didn't. Alves and Maicon went so he's had a nice long break. If Valencia makes it into the team ahead of him it could be quite revealing.

3-5-2 would be perfect for Welbeck too

He isn't good enough as lone striker for us and on the wing isn't his position in his eyes
If he plays as striker with another striker on his side then brilliant for him

I really hope we don't see much of 3-5-2 in the actual season and Rafael being behind Valencia is sad.

Same here. A 3 man backline in the Premier League is bordering on suicide. That type of system really only suits Serie A or Eredivisie, IMO. Maybe LVG will have me eating my words...

It's the first match of preseason, calm down. Nothing is concrete.

Technically he was in Brazil during that period, if that counts. Otherwise no.

Thanks,

I've checked the squad again and he is on the tour, looks like he could be benched.
