That still wouldn't make much sense. I thought they were getting rid of Di Maria because there is too much competition. Getting in El Shaarawy helps nothing
With di Maria leaving their squad would be a bit short of wide players, Ronaldo, Bale and Jese would be left.

If we can't get di Maria I would love it if Woodward/LvG went for El Shaarawy instead. Very bright talent, just needs the proper guidance and a stable club for him to reach his potential. Snatching him from under Madrid's noses would be even better.

That's true in terms of pure wingers but Rodriguez can play there too can't he if needed? I have no idea what Madrid are doing but it's a great problem to have I guess

They know Di Maria will kick up a fuss at not playing and will sell for good money.
El Shaarawy would be purely for the bench. Quite literally for the bench, and nothing else.

Where would we play him?

I suspect things are moving forward and Juve are getting a very reasonable price for Vidal from us, no need to declare our interest.

I like your optimism mate. Can't see it myself, I think he'll be at Juve next season.

If Woodward doesn't bring in at least one marquee name he will be crucified.
He has painted himself into a corner with his own words.... having said that, I am fully confident he will deliver before Sep 1st. :)

Yeah, Isco can play wide too. God knows what Madrid are doing, but they're strengthening as champions of Europe and look incredibly strong.

Aside from the hideous design it also looks really poor quality. The type of cheap 100% cotton shirt that shrinks in the wash, loses it's shape, and the shiny bits start peeling off.

It's surely a joke?
I think they can be forgiven for choosing novelty over playability, considering they are only a small third division club.

So they made 75 euro off each jersey? Even saying they sell for 100 euro, there's no way Madrid would get 75% of the sale. They always come out with this bullshit too, and people lap it up.

A nonsense article. It says 345,000 shirts have been sold at 75e each. Which is nearly 26Me. So Madrid are keeping 100% of that are they? Please. I know they get a profit share but after manufacturing, marketing and distribution costs and Adidas profit share, they'll be lucky to be making 15e a shirt. Which is 5me.

Can we stop this myth that Madrid can magically pay their ridiculous transfer fees by selling shirts.
They come out with this crap every time they buy a 'galactico'.

I call bullshit.

"Real Madrid have sold 345,000 James Rodriguez shirts in 48 hours since the Colombian signed for the Liga giants.

Who Ate All the Pies picked up on a report by Spanish newspaper Sport that cited the figure. Sport's source for the number was Euromericas Sport Marketing."

"Sport also reports that over one million Cristiano Ronaldo shirts have been sold since he joined Real Madrid."

They may have sold a crapload of shirts but there is no way they are pocketing 100% of the proceeds.

Cristiano I can understand. Its been more than 4 years. He is the best player on the planet. But with Rodriguez I refuse to believe they have already sold more than 345,000 jerseys.

Here's an article that looks closer into the shirt sales question.

http://www.quora.com/Real-Madrid-C-...aldos-transfer-fee-by-just-selling-his-shirts

Cristiano Ronaldo was apparently reported to have sold 1.2 million shirts in Madrid alone. Well, it's the Metro, and there are no quotes form any Madrid representative in the article, and it is suspiciously close to the total figures reported by Adidas above, so I don't really trust this report at all. But let's play with these numbers anyway:

Since the shirts only make 12 euros profit, that's 14.4 million euros in that year. Assuming steady sales over the life of a five year contract, that's 72 million euros. Hey, that almost pays off! But wait, big players earn big money - what is Cristiano Ronaldo's salary? Forbes lists his wages at 20 million US dollars, or 16.3 million euros, a year.
So all the money Madrid make from Ronaldo shirts is used... to pay Ronaldo.

The figure of 1m seems really low over the length of time. If they sell 345,000 James shirts in a few days, surely it can't be right that they've only sold three times that many Ronaldo shirts in 5 odd years.
