Its not dismissive sarcasm, its a valid point. Its setting a precedent among fans to question Van Gaal's transfer policy when he hasn't even managed a competitive match yet. He's said time and time again he's assessing the squad and wants to give the current players a chance, and also that he's building a philosophy (system) to see which of the current players fit into it.

Managers should always be open to being questioned, sitting there just nodding in agreement means there is zero point in a discussion forum at all.

Sure they should - after they actually manage a few competitive matches. Whats the point in questioning someone who hasn't even managed us yet.

What's the point in having a transfer discussion forum if all we are going to do is post "He's a great buy because van Gaal bought him"?

Oh god i can only imagine this place if we don't sign atleast one top class player, especially after the bleating from Woodard.
I'll be honest, i'm quite suspicious of us when we are linked to the real top level players but i honestly thought we would get 1 of either Vidal or Di Maria.
He's set himself for a huge fall, for the second year running.

We're discussing it here. Don't expect things that don't make sense to other posters to not be challenged.

You can't have a discussion about a player though when one side of the argument's whole stance is simply "He's the right buy because van Gaal says so"

That's what it comes down to though. He neither knows you or I, nor cares what we think. We're living in a world of fantasy here, whereas he's living in the real world.

I see the transfer forum hasn't changed much from last year. Some of you need to get out more. The sky isn't falling down because we didn't get bought a new expensive toy, the ones we have been bought and are going to be bought might not look as fancy but they'll still be fun, and some of the ones we already have just need a wash and a tidy up.

Which brings me back to the view that this section is a waste of time for you because you don't have any view on the players other than mocking fans that do.

I have plenty of views, as does everyone else. Although there aren't many who cross the line into absurdity of questioning Van Gaal before he's every managed a competitive match at OT.

Agreed. I hadn't seen much of Herrera, but what I saw the other night was very very good. Only issue for me is replacing what has left at the back as we seem very short in that area, particularly experience wise. As for a winger and CM, icing on the cake.

Id love to hear more of your player views and less about how other fans should tow the line with whatever van Gaal might or might not do, given it's all speculation anyway at this point.

I've posted them throughout the threads. Vidal, Di Maria, and Hummels seem like obvious targets, should they fit into our plans. Although I have my doubts about whether we're after any of them.

Just a mad man would think Vidal would not fit in LVG system. One the the most industrious, and best all around midfielder in the world. Right...

Yeah because all managers are honest In interviews.
See my post below yours. He categorically stated, more than once, than he'd assess his squad before signing anyone. Now you're realising he might have actually been telling the truth it's like some shocking revelation, when it makes sense to have a look at what you have first. It's like buying a house and gutting it just in case it's shit, before checking first to see if it's actually shit or whether the guy living in it before you was just a useless twat who couldn't decorate properly.

Hummels is pretty much the most ideal of the 3 IMO, I mean we are gong 3 at the back and need a leader who can bring the ball out, Hummels fits that to a T. I can't see why we wouldn't be after Hummels and Vidal unless it's a price thing.

Really... he cost £7m.

I thought they'd pay us something like €1m... in the end it's all peanuts for the club anyway. Paid £7,4m for him, got €1m from Besiktas for the loan deal (went well for the Turkish club...) and now around €3m and a 50% sell-on clause... that's good enough. All the best to Bebe, hope he has a decent career.

I think thats a fair post but the problem is Woodward and all the bullish crap he came out with, he really was setting himself up for a fall, 2 years running.
