That doesn't matter. You know it doesn't.If they didn't register him, they messed up their paperwork. And that's definitely not cheating, they have gained absolutely nothing.

true.
You want it to matter, but you know it doesn't. The rules are clear, as is the punishment for breaking the rules.Of course it matters.
They also registered 23 players for St Patricks game because they didn't have more. They had two open slots so Bereszynski was not replaced by anyone.
UEFA cannot really do anything other than call it an honest mistake and tell them not to forget it again.
For the record, I have always had a soft spot for Celtic and have attended some of their home matches.
But this is the worst Celtic team since that twat Macari was manager. Possibly even worse
So he was left out of the squad for the game in question, then?
Why do they feel the need to invest? Whatever happens, they'll win the league. That's probably the board's thinking. Why won't the board invest? They must have made a lot of money off player sales, fans and CL revenue in recent years.
I was surprised to see them sell Tony Watt, I thought he was highly regarded even if he did have an attitude problem.
Their strike force is Anthony Stokes, Griffthes and Pukki. They won't score much in Europe with those three.
Shouldn't Celtic be investigated to? For fielding a team of frauds?
Having to register a player that you cannot play in a game is ridiculous by the way. Before today I'd have actually thought it'd be the other way around i.e. registering such player would be punishable.

Celtic have stagnated.

Yeah. The fact that they simply made a mistake in their paperwork as opposed to actually cheating by fielding a player in a game he isn't supposed to play in deliberately is meaningless?
Stupid as feck. I imagined you simply have not to play him while he's at your club. This is the issue UEFA apparently might have here - they cannot be sure he was at the club at the time so they cannot be sure that he completed his suspension because he were not on the list which would have been the evidence of him being a Legia player at the time. So long as they prove that he were they should be cleared according to what I have heard.Only punishable if he was registered then featured on the bench or even played any part of the match. It is definitely daft, I won't deny it.
Yeah.

Not quite sure where to begin with that analogy. Legia aren't going to be punished for an offence they didn't commit. Ignorance isn't an excuse. You haven't made a single slight but punishable mistake in your life that went unnoticed then, good for you fair man. Doesn't make a difference if you have murdered a human or went 2 kph over speed limit.
Something's gotta give. You'd think it would be the return of Rangers, but the league is in dire shape. Holds no attraction to foreign stars, and even if Celtic were to attract good young talent, the board would simply sell them off after a few years for a profit.Because we need to improve season upon season if we want CL revenue. Teams in England that get relegated probably get more money for that than we would do from TV in about 20 years![]()

They can (and should) enforce their own rules, whether he played for 3 minutes or the full 90 scoring a hattrick is irrelevant, they should be punished regardless of it appearing to be harsh or unfair
I don't care about Celtic or Legia.....but i think Celtic should go through.
I agree 100% with @20solskjaer 's last comment
Legia are lucky it's just Celtic.....Legia would be out of the CL already tonight if the club would be Arsenal, Schalke or Atletico Madrid
I guess where someone actually commits a crime they benefit from. It's an honest mistake, but at this level if you get punished for it then its nobody's fault but your own. We saw last season that M'Baye Niang of AC Milan couldn't play CL football because he wasn't registered. He didn't need to be because of his age, but he still had to be added to the roster.
Yes, it'd be unfortunate for the Polish side to be disqualified, and Celtic won't deserve it in the slightest, but rules are rules and if they start getting lenient with one case where does it stop?
However, in 2010, Uefa fined Debrecen £15,000 but rejected a protest from opponents Litex Lovech, who wanted the Hungarian side kicked out of the tournament for fielding an ineligible player.
Debrecen argued that they fielded Peter Mate in good faith as a substitute in Bulgaria when they were leading 4-1 on aggregate.
Uefa ruled that Debrecen had "no interest in fielding this player for the three last minutes of additional time, when the score was so clearly in its favour".
6-1 up on aggregate, 4 minutes of the tie left and they sub on an ineligible player
There's some common sense in UEFA after all.

Aye, there should be a Sensible Football Panel that has the ability to override the rules if it's patently obvious no real advantage was sought or gained
They should go to CAS.
Sounds like Legia really had "no interest in fielding this player for the last few minutes, when the score was so clearly in its favour". It's really annoying and infuriating, even though I have no connection at all with Polish club.
