Alexis Sanchez, Arsenal Player

Such a decisive player, I like how he makes the right decision between shooting and creating. It really helps that Wenger is playing in a position he's at his best and in a team that understands the football he thrives on.

Sorry Costa, Fabregas and our Di Maria, but I think Sanchez is buy of the season.

At the end of the day it's a fairly pointless accolade considering how well these players have been playing for their respective sides - Fabregas and Costa especially.

All the clubs would be extremely pleased with their output so far - bar probably you guys with Di Maria (for various reasons).

Nice to see him getting the appreciation he deserves. He had a cracking last season at Barca, maybe didn't get full credit he deserved. But he suits Arsenal/EPL more than Barca and would be best as a focal point of the team. But I have my doubt with him and Ozil in the pitch at same time. Wenger has to find some way to play both of them.

Ozil worked perfectly well with Ronaldo, so I am hoping for a similar kind of link-up between them.

I think Wenger is assembling a team that would challenge for the title next season with a couple of right additions.

Ospina/Chesney
Debuchy/Bellerin New CB/Per Kos/Chambers Gibbs/Monreal
New CDM/Flamini Ramsey/Wilshere
Walcott/Chamberlin Ozil/Santi Sanchez/Welbeck
New Striker/Giroud
That's a title challenging squad, imo.

He should go all out for a top CB, Schneiderlin and a top striker in this window and the next.

It's also totaly pointless if whoever gets the accolade ends the year trophyless (to be clear, I'm not saying Arsenal will). Individual prizes in football are completely stupid.

Agreed.

As is this oft repeated nonsense that Alexis is 'carrying us' this season. It takes a team to create goals, and Alexis happens to be the best attacking player and finisher in the team in red hot form. Don't need to be a genius to see why we route most of our attacks through him. Santi, Tom, Ox have done exceedingly well in the last few weeks.

In Madrid, Ozil supplied Ronaldo. They both clearly had distinct responsibilities. You can't say same in Arsenal. If you put Alexis in Ronaldo role, you're not utilizing his best attributes. He's a good goal scorer now, but he's even better at running the show. Both Ozil and Alexis demand the ball and wants to be involved in build-up. Maybe Ozil through middle and Alexis as a wide forward could work.

Why the feck would Barcelona want to sell Mr Squeaky Clean Suarez for a ridiculously baggage-ridden Suarez?

Would have made sense if Barca were changing formations or tactics, but Suarez is playing in exactly the same position and role as Sanchez used to. Its not as though Sanchez has only just come to life either, he was on fire last season too as has already been mentioned.

He's not really, Suárez plays down the middle for them whereas Alexis usually played out wide. Still questionable whether it was a good decision to ship Alexis off though, I agree.

Sanchez played where he was told but he was always an out and out striker for his country (Chile?). Barca knew that. But they sell him, bring Suarez in (who is also put on the wing at times) and get exactly the same sort of results. Except now the fear of a 2 year ban is only ever one bitesize match away.

Nope.

Nope (you got the country right though!).

Oh, I thought you meant they were playing Suárez in the same role that Alexis played for them, not for his previous clubs. Apologies then.

People still throw about that nonsense that he's carrying Arsenal. Well, I wish Di Maria would have been carrying us this season, we would surely have been better off for it. He's a fantastic player, always has been and always will be.

Alexis really started evolving last season, probably his breakout season. Barca really didn't need to sell him, but I guess they felt with addition of Suarez he'd be wasted. Also a question of raising funds. I think EPL suits him more than Barca (if that means anything). He has a problem when the space is limited (bit like Bale). He did score a screamer against Atletico. I think the decision of management was mainly to fund for Suarez, doesn't really mean Alexis was bad.

Alexis wasn't bad at all.

But, like Real Madrid, Barcelona too buys and releases players on a whim. There are only two players untouchable, Ronaldo and Messi respectively.

Heck, I hate these two teams so much.

That team would destroy the PL!

But I suppose playing with 22 players would be a bit unfair.

Still got a face you would like to kick in.
He nearly got booked demanding a yellow card for a handball. Mertesacker came over and told him to cut it out. The ref gave him a lecture. Then we he got home his wife was waiting at the end of the drive making the wanker sign.

It's Wenger's new master-plan tactics that will revolutionise world football...

Behold the: 1-7-7-7 formation, and ye shall know fear.

I've written this post. It should happen, but it won't.

They got 35 for Sanchez and spent 15(!) on Vermaelen. They could have just sold Pedro for around 20 and bought some Segunda CB or Bosman option they liked and they'd have a better squad for the same cost.

I'll be stunned if he's an Arsenal player next season. They're never going to progress the way things are now and every club will be sniffing around him.

It'd be pretty difficult to get him off their hands though. Nobody wants to let a player like him go, especially when he's been carrying your team in almost every match. Put in a cheeky bid?

Modern football. The players always get their way in the end.

Gone in a season? Naah. Think it'l take atleast 2yrs of mediocrity for him to want to move away.

It's going to take a ridiculous amount of money for him to leave after a single season. And who is he going to join?
