Someone should make a separate "Cristiano Ronaldo - Goals" thread just for SirAF. Don't think I've ever seen him post about Ronaldo's performances
He's been excellent in the 2nd half so far to be fair; has done more than he did in the entire first half already.
He's been pretty decent in the second half, teed up Bale nicely also.
Could do with some free kick pratice mind!

Terrible player. Couldn't even score 13 goals from 13 shots. Being Real's best player in that second half counts for nothing when you can only score 1 goal from 13 shots.
I just read that from his last 50 direct free kick attempts he has zero goals. He really should be letting Bale take more.
He is being sarcastic. He is mocking the people who say he only scores goals and does nothing else and then when he plays well and creates chances but doesn't score (or take all of his chances) the same people criticise him for not scoring a goal or for not scoring more than he did.

Its not bollocks and its not just about today. It is always the same, every single time. Coming from the same people, the philosophers who claim that you have to look beyond the goals and when he does other things but does not score then they criticise him for not scoring or for being wasteful.

nope, when he scores, we say "ronaldo is only about goals", when he doesnt, we say "today he didnt score" and when he only scores a penalty we say "penaldo"

The answer is "no". And I'm not sure how it matters either. He's still top scorer isn't he?
Why is his general play so atrocious? If he doesnt score, you are playing with 10 men. He has been quite poor since the ballon d'Or.

IMO it's been like that for a while, it's just Madrid have been in tremendous form, creating chances for fun. Now it seems they are having some dip in form so he's not very useful.
He is, Messi is only 3 goals behind though. It is actually a legitimate question seeing as he has only(his standards) scored 39 goals this season in all competitions and he has about 16 more games left to play this season and he currently scores a goal in every other game (current form) as opposed to averaging a goal a game.
His first season is arguably his worst season as he only scored 33 goals, but he missed a lot of games that he only played 35 games that season which is remarkable.
I'd say it's been like that for years, yeah. But...I think for the first few months of this season his all round play was much better than it had been in a while. That's what impressed me, not his goal record.
Since Christmas though he's been dreadful, just like last season.
I agree. He used to be mostly about goals but in the first few months of the season, he was the better all-round player, as a "Messi man", i really couldn't argue about his game, but he seems to have drifted away from that style of play and reverted to the Ronaldo of old lately, where if he isn't scoring goals he isn't adding much to the team..... its sad to see, really.
Was it? I thought his assists tally didn't tell the whole story, because he wasn’t really involved in build-up play most of the time. Mostly simple return passes.
Well, it wasn't fantastic or anything but he was a lot more involved than he was last season, or than he has been since.

No way. His first season was arguably his best at RM in terms of overall play (not overall). He was so much more involved in everything, scored a lot of really good solo goals and was one of the best and most dangerous dribblers in the league. (@Raul Madrid made an excellent post about just this not too long ago I believe)
Don't know what @Raul Madrid or @Vato think about it, but after the clear stand-out season that is 2011-12 (big game performances in La Liga and CL, winning league title v Guardiola-era Barça, most goals in a single season in his career; should've won the BdO this year instead of the next in my opinion) I find that it becomes hard to rank the rest of his seasons because they are so much alike, all of them have both some outstanding ánd some underwhelming aspects (e.g. 2013-14, extraordinary scoring consistency in CL and, of course, La Décima, but outshone by several players in La Liga and in majority of big games; 2009-10, outstanding all-round debut season in a new league/country but no silverware to show for it; 2010-11, extraordinary amount of goals in La Liga though not with the same consistency as in recent seasons, but rather underwhelming "output" by comparison in the CL; 2012-13, excellent scoring consistency in CL, but would make this his worst season at RM probably as he basically came up short on almost all other fronts).
So, personally I'd rank them,
2011-12
2009-10 & 2013-14 (too close to call)
2010-11
2012-13
*unranked, 2014-15, started off with extraordinary scoring consistency once again, gradually added a bigger involvement in chance creation (return to 2009-10 levels in fact), but since the turn of the year significant decline in both performances and "output".
In all other aspects than goalscoring, he has regressed a lot. I don't think we will ever see the tricky winger he was at United again.
Definitely not, especially since he's heading into his 30's now. He'll still have a lot of ability obviously, but his pace will surely start to regress.

Yeah, him and Rooney are still 23. Gerrard, Lampard, Xavi, Terry, Ferdinand and co are in their late 20's or heading into their 30's.

I think from then onwards, he's judst compromised his unpredictability for efficiency. What we see now is a well oiled finishing machine, as opposed to an explosive, game changer. I remember him scoring an amazing hat trick in a tough away game against Villareal the season after (I think), RM won 4-2. He was amazing that game, a proper leaders performance. Taking players on, clever runs etc but I doubt we'll see that Ronaldo again.
