The original post did not make that comparison though he was comparing the supposed 200k the de Gea turned down. So nice try but you are moving the goalposts of the discussion Got no time for people who try to win discussions that way welcome to my ignore list.
I couldn't disagree with this any more. He was only 20 years old when he arrived at United and even then he was mostly calm and dealt with the pressure well. There were even comparisons with VDS regarding his calm nature early doors. If he goes to Madrid, he will be a huge success, just as much of a guaranteed success I knew Ronaldo would be for them.
They didn't park their cars next to eachother, he is staying
Yes. Whatever we get for him isn't gonna be enough to make it worth selling him. The only problem with keeping him is whether his head is turned. If he will play to his potential then he is worth keeping. If it was any other club other than Real MAdrid would people still be calling for us to keep him a year and let him leave for nothing?
To be honest, I'd rather just sell him this Summer if he wants to leave. If he stays here, his heart (and mind/focus) will be in Madrid for his final season with us. Sure, it's annoying and upsetting that he probably will leave, but let's be realistic, he's not the only top quality keeper out there.
If it was me personally, I'd happily pay slightly over for Lloris (though Levy doesn't do "slightly"), or pay a less astronomical fee on a younger talent like Leno (having Valdes as a mentor surely couldn't be a hindrance).
Either way, if he comes out and says he's staying, great. If he leaves, it's not the end of the world.

Well he is not publically trying to force a move, no idea what he may or may not have told the club.Probably end up like Ronaldo, stay for one more season and then leave.
There is a very big difference between him saying I want to leave United, and saying I am not going to sign a new contract as I have ambitions of playing for Real Madrid. He is not exactly trying to force a move to Real Madrid, though his agent maybe.
I am very confident that if DDG is not sold, he will be a star player for United next year. If he goes, I expect him to ease his way into the Real Madrid team, maybe not playing as much as he wants, but the year after he will be No. 1 there.

Casillas won't be there come the start of the new season.Does De Gea really want to go through a season of this stuff? Iker has seen off so many threats to his position over the past few years. Does David really think he will be different?

Cue @GlastonSpur reassuring you that he will not be sold. Ever. In fact, Spurs will go bankrupt and cease to exist before they ever sell Lloris and Bale.
He's not getting any younger, there's a new Sheriff in town.Does De Gea really want to go through a season of this stuff? Iker has seen off so many threats to his position over the past few years. Does David really think he will be different?
We started trying to negotiate an extension last summer when 2 years were left. At least according to some reports last summer. So since you can not legally force someone to sign a contract, what else could we do?Rumours this morning of 18 million quid.....
18 million pounds....
Surely this is a wind up by someone?! If it's not, then it's a lesson Woodward and the rest need to learn. Don't leave your best players with just one year left to run on their contract!

If we hadn't had the Moyes debacle, I reckon he would have signed two years ago. As it is, Moyes came and ruined not only the present, but our future too. Who can blame De Gea for not signing at that time? I certainly don't.
The media probably just trying to make a meal of it tbh. What's that?
Looks like he'll be announced and presented next week.
