This fall out doesn't make any sense.

He's a fantastic player, at the peak of his powers, and he's a complete icon in Spanish football.

Only at Real Madrid.

Let's take Isco while we're at it. Another one they hopefully don't value.

He was clearly hired to win trophies, just look at Woodward said at the conference call two months go(?), LVG is expected to win things next season. I don't blame him for going players like Ramos. A lot of fans fail to realise this, he can't take risks.

Ramos ticks all the boxes for me.

Yes, he's 29 years old, but his injury record stands up to scrutiny - I don't think he's played less than 40 times in a single season since joining Real Madrid.

There's no reason why we can't get, at least, three very good years out of him.

Aside from footballing ability, our squad badly lacks leadership and good old fashioned bollocks - Ramos brings these qualities in spades.

It's also easier to build for the future from a position of strength as well, i.e. We need to get back to the top as soon as possible. Signings like this will help that although I'm trying not to let myself get carried away just yet! I was the same with van Persie, Mata and Di Maria - won't believe it until it's done.

Would be delighted with signing Ramos though.

Just look at how they treated Casillas and Raul.

There aren't many defenders more suited to Van Gaal's philosophy than Ramos. Pique is the only one, out of the ones I watch regularly, I'd take over him.

His ability on the ball is tailor made for our system.

I know, it's shoddy stuff. I'm amazed that players going there (like De Gea) don't think twice before joining.

That said, Casillas is a strange one - both for RM and Spain, he's probably lasted longer than he has deserved to.

Having said that, Otamendi's performance this season against Barcelona was nothing short of ridiculous. I've never seen Ramos defend like that (not that I've seen much of Otamendi). He's more of an all around player and a good defender.

It will be interesting to see what happens if De Gea struggles early on. They whistle everyone there.

Where on the muppet scale do people feel this transfer is? Do we need a like on the United instagram from his wife?

So is this actually on properly on or is it still Ramos wanting a bigger contract at madrid.

Seems like there's something to it. I'll let you know when I know for sure.

Cheers my man on the inside.

I just can't make much of it some pages on this thread are saying he's using us for a bigger contract at Madrid other pages are saying he's definately coming to United others are saying he's definately staying at Madrid. I just don't know what to believe.

I know, it must just look good on the CV. Because they sure as hell aren't appreciated.
That's the only thing I can think off, they are the self proclaimed biggest Club in the World yet act like the smallest, fans included.

To put it simply, he is angry because Madrid didn't try to make him sign a new contract reflecting his true value, on top of that he doesn't like how some legend have been treated by Perez and he feels that Perez is using the press against him.

Now anything can happen maybe he'll stay, maybe he'll leave.

Mmmmmmm still looks like he is using us for a bigger contract at Madrid but we will see.

We obviously are a weapon for him, but I think that he is genuinely pissed and could leave if Perez doesn't make amends.

The time when this was just about money has long passed. You don't go to a public war of words and invite bids from other clubs just because of a couple mill extra on your contract. Just look at the Alves situation. Yeah there were a few nicely timed leaks about Utd and PSG being maybe interested, but there was nothing acrimonious about it playing out in the press. This has gotten much uglier. That's not to say they can't sort it out though. I'm keeping pessimistic about it.

Imagine we signed Ramos and he urged De Gea to stay away from Madrid because of the reasons he left? Magic.

Real Madrid is truly a circus. Now their media is doing Perez's dirty work and shitting on Ramos who is Madrid through and through..

Also is fascinating what can a man read here. That he isnt good defensively and Koscielny and Barzagli are better..

Smalling as well.

This thread has grown 25 pages in about 3 hours.

This is looking all the more likely now that Perez is running his mouth. I'd love us to sign Ramos but my only concern is that we'll miss out on Otamendi, I guess Ramos will prove to be the better all round buy though, what do I know!

Christ on a bike, I've been in a meeting since 4pm, has anything actually happened to trigger the extra couple of dozen pages?

I blame selfies. Just a bunch of duck-faced cnuts taking pictures of themselves.

Madrid media and Perez lackeys did a di Maria style character assassination on Ramos. He is ours.

A lot of fans do realize it, but they think they are being perfectly reasonable by wanting LVG to win the league/cups/go far in CL while bringing in players that are young and has a lot of potential so that our team is set for the next 10 years.

Our squad is full of "young players with potential" as it is. One thing we need is leaders with top level experience, something we lack and what Sergio and Bastien alike will bring.

For defensive abilities??

Varane terry koscielny boateng cheillini thiago silva ottamendi ivanovic laporte barzaghli benatia hummels subotic godin
Varane - no
Terry - yes but he has a major flaw in pace which would cost us as we're playing with a very high line so therefore; no.
Koscielny - no, not even close
Boateng - close but not as good
Chiellini - yes
Thiago Silva - yes
Otamendi - maybe, he has only had one season where he has been better than Ramos, but Ramos fits us better so I'd say they're on par.
Ivanovic - no
Laporte - no , he has potential but he's not close at the moment.
Barzagli - Another . He's 34 and played 9 games in the league this season. Don't be stupid.
Benatia - Hmm, maybe.
Hummels - no, he has declined slightly.
Subotic - Come on man, he's not close at all.
Godín - yes
