It's a joke referring to him accidentally taking a doughnut outside a shop without paying, and then getting pulled back in by security.
I've seen 'Pool fans call him 'The Criminal' or 'The Convict' too.
Bit rich...

It's pretty funny, in a childish and face palmed kind of way. It's a joke referring to him accidentally taking a doughnut outside a shop without paying, and then getting pulled back in by security.
Well he will be if Madrid doesn't cough up the money. Or you think we'll take whatever they offer us at this point?
Well if we do that we'll be enormously stupid. As for him sitting in the stands it's easy it's not as if he's not training. He shouldn't have a problem with coming back into the lineup.Pretty much, by the time the window shuts De Gea will of been sat in the stands for 6 games I'm not sure how he comes back from that even with the window shut

David McDonnel says Real Madrid will offer £30m and we are likely to accept that.

Yet the club has evidently been briefing that it doesnt expect any bid from Madrid..30 mil is about 45 mil Euros, with Madrid last only willing to offer 25 mil Euros..that would be some jump...I really think we might accept such a high fee, I just dont think we will receive one..http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-united-transfers-david-de-6334412

Van Gaal just last week said he would not be sold..the club would have sold had Madrid paid up, but Im not sure they will this late.I'm not sure we should sell him at £30m this late in the window, not sure about going into a new season with Romero and Johnstone and there is not any GK good enough available atm.
If de Gea stays he still has the euro's spot to nail, he would have to be focused for us and with him in goal he could earn us alot of vital points.
I'm guessing he will stay since we haven't heard a peep about a replacement. The problem now will be to motivate him to play again, which is quite sad when you think about it.
There might be a reason why Romero has been playing every game. Even if DDG is sold now we'd have a set up that we can continue, albeit not on the same levelI would be surprised if we sold him so late. I don't think there is enough time to get a decent replacement.
Did he play against Ajax 2 today?
Still think he will be sold before window shuts, don't see any other outcome, only point in keeping him for the season is if he is going to play but if his head isn't right now then I will it be right in December when speculation start again, in January when he can sign a pre contract and rest of season once he signs the pre contract.
The situation hasn't really been handled well by anyone involved and we will be the big losers financially and won't have a replacement. As well as Romero has done it has only been a few games, he has been relatively untested and he was backup at a midtable italian team for a reason.
I honestly think, if he stays, he will not get one game this season unless Romero is injured or hits horrible patch of form and even then i think Johnstone may get the nod over him.
It's probably a game we're playing with Madrid, pay us what we want or you'll be getting a keeper that's not played a single game for a year.
Yep - this is what I think.
I think they will relent and offer around 25m (euros) and he'll go.

I think he will stay. We can't go in with Romero and Johnstone as our 'keepers, and it doesn't look like we have anyone else lined up.

So you think after all this, we will sell for about £15m?
I really don't see the point of keeping De Gea if he's so desperate to go and I agree that Romero has come in and pretty much earned his place - one thing about Van Gaal is he seems to be loyal to those who are loyal to him.
I don't think it will make much difference to be honest. If Madrid want someone, they will come anyway.I think you are undervaluing what a statement this would make, RM won't come for our players easily again. We need to do this, I'd pay the 15m£ as a fee...
It depends on many things. If Madrid's keeper won't perform that well, then knives - in fact, handkerchiefs - will be in Bernabeu for Perez. Their lunatic fans won't give Perez a break cause he didn't sign De Gea. In a few years, when Madrid will want one of our players, they will think twice, especially considering that we will be quite superior to them financially.I don't think it will make much difference to be honest. The best statement we can make is to win the CL and put ourselves back up there.
