They fecked around and left it til the last night.

We've left them with serious egg on their face, barely effects us either way.

It barely effects you? You miss out on the transfer fee for de Gea and end up with an unhappy/shite keeper in nets for a season depending on whether Romero keeps his place.

It's a bad outcome for us. I mean it's pretty funny, but Navas is about the best replacement we could hope for and now we're stuck with Valdes or Romero instead.

If this was revenge on purpose then Woodward is a fecking legend

We spend the whole day sorting it out then put the documents through at 1 minute past the transfer window closing.

It's brilliant. feck Madrid. They won't be trying to pinch from us again.

Literally a joke.

And fans want a guy who has bent us over and signed a contract with another club immediately back in nets.
Rojo did the same thing to Lisbon last summer....Rooney did it a few seasons ago..Wanyama did it to Southampton this summer.....It happens all the time....It's part of the game these days.....In fariness if you work for a company in England and a company from Miami offer the same money to do the same thing in the sunshine then it would be hard to say no to that for a lot of people

I defo don't want to see Romero in goal again

Laughed for a minute. Then realised it will be Romero for the next few months. We're fecked :(

Haha did Woodward do this to stick the V's up to Real?

Everyone involved in this looks like a complete tit though. Real for messing about with pointless bids. Us for not stating what we'd actually accept. DDG for not trying to force things more publicly.

And ultimately everyone loses on this. DDG will have to sit out the season. We don't get the replacement that LVG wanted (not that I think he was the right choice). Real don't get their man. United don't get any money for him when he eventually leaves. United are stuck with Romero. So who's the biggest loser? I'd think us ultimately.

Yeah, Man Utd feck up the paperwork and it's all Madrid's fault

Bollocks. You'd think a club of Madrid's standing would be experienced enough in transfer dealings to factor in situations like this and get their ducks in a row long before deadline day. Shows an abysmal lack of planning. feck 'em.

This is the worst possible outcome...but it is hilarious. Can't make this shit up! Romero in goal while De Gea sits in the stands is as embarrassing as it gets.

Not only will De Gea be embarrassed to be in goal but Romero will too, knowing he was seconds away from being relegated to the bench! Fecking brilliant.
What about Navas! :lol::lol:

A shit day for goalkeepers!

You say that as though Navas and De Gea will be happy with the way Madrid handled this. Both feeling quite unwanted right now.
Navas will feel unwanted, De Gea certainly won't! He'll be furious and upset, I'd imagine. I just hope he acts professionally and knuckles down for us.

I suspect both sets of fans will be laughing tonight at the incompetence of their clubs and media.

I'm happy that this deal fell through after all the bullshit about tactical waiting to the last minute.

This is hilarious, we still have time to find us a GK and ship of Valdes to a PL club. RM however are finished for this transfer period (and possibly even longer regarding poaching youngsters). Ofcourse it will hurt all involved, but standing at the sideline like this I can only laugh.

So IF we sent the documents late intentionally, that's not exactly gonna help De Gea's delicate mental state, is it?

We spend the whole day sorting it out then put the documents through at 1 minute past the transfer window closing.

That's exactly what they will do when they sign him on a free transfer.

Transfer window is still open for us mate.

It will be an absolute master stroke if we sign a goalkeeper tomorrow.

Imo this is at Madrids door all together, they should have met our valuation earlier in the summer and this had been avoided.

That's what they did, though. They obviously told Madrid a price a while back but Madrid refused to pay it. Van Gaal himself made it clear that they would sell for a fair price weeks ago.

Mean we should have told them a price and given them a date by which if an amenable offer did not come, we'd not be selling at all. Tell DDG that's the case and he knows by a certain date if he is not gone, then be prepared to stick the season out with us - letting him be in the right frame of mind without the distraction of will it happen or not.

Now most clubs can't have this kind of stance given they could be offered ridiculous money but, for us money should not be and results/performances a more important deal.

Madrid seemed cagey about paying so much and then the fan poll on Marca today overwhelmingly revealed that Madrid fans want to keep Navas and get De Gea for free next season instead of paying a fortune for him this summer

I wouldn't be surprised if Florentino Perez pulled the plug on this one at the last second for fear of a fan backlash
I thought this too, but surely it can't be? Surely not. Really wanted this to go through, can't imagine what his mental state will be like after this...

I can totally see De Gea throwing his toys out of the pram and not wanting to play, thank god theres not a big international tournament on the horizon that he'll be eager to try get into the Spanish side for.

He'll get in regardless won't he though? He's quite clearly the best Spanish keeper around.

Still doubt he'd chance it! Would LVG actually play him though?!

Real Madrid probably expected Man Utd to act like a competent club.

Why is everyone so sure that the deal hasn't gone through? I fully expect De Gea to be going to Madrid

reports Madrid unhappy that while United had the tools to send the paperwork forward, instead they passed it side to side and backwards round the office

Anyone who thinks De Gea is seriously going to continue to sit on the bench is crazy. LVG said himself it would only be until after the window ended.

Paco González is saying that Madrid didn´t leave this for the last day.United set a price today. I am fine with Keylor but I think that Manchester had a very ugly behavior with David if they sent the documents intentionally late. On the other hand Madrid should have fixed this weeks ago

Keylor won't be fine with Real after how you guys treated him though
