Our best players from the squad were involved today. If you have a problem with the squad then fair enough, I'd agree we need more strength in depth, but I don't think there was a problem with his subs today personally.again LVG set this team from starters to the bench. he's shit at it.
Instead of which substitution? Lingard for Mata is the only sub that wasn't a necessity, and I can't see how your alternative would have been game breaking.

You could say the exact same thing for replacing Mata with Lingard on the right though. I think LVG would have preferred the Lingard option to help out with Zaha defensively, who was causing us problems. Mata obviously isn't much help in that department. It would've injected a hell lot more pace from the left. Also, Pereira can either go down the line or cut inside and has a really decent cross in him. It wouldn't have been an enlightened sub that would've guaranteed a win but it would've improved the tempo of our play in the final third.
Two tough away games and we should wash off the performance because they gifted us goals? This is what i find annoying about the modern football fan, we beat Everton convincingly where at the time i (like many) thought it was the perfect performance. We defending well, and attacked very well.Oh come on. Our fecking performances? Southampton and Everton were convincing results, but they both gifted us goals. The other away win was a terrible display, won by a single goal from a player LVG has fecked off on loan.
i have a problem with the manager.
OR hes building something where he wants the foundations of the team to be brilliantLet's be honest: This is the culmination of what van Gaal has put in over the past 18 months. We've got a team that's hard to beat, much more likely to be consistently in the top 4 and he really has transformed the performances of some of our players. I don't think he will deliver anything above and beyond this.

Well that's fair enough too. I was just picking up on people having a crack at his subs. There wasn't much alternative today imo.
Is it me or it just looks like Giggs don't believe in the "philosophy"? I wonder why did LVG agree to keep him as assistant? I'd think you'd want everyone on your staff to be on the same page (even if it's a retarded page).
The way he agreed to Giggs being an assistant showed me at the beginning this won't end well.
He's here for the job, his last big paycheck. He doesn't care if he succeeds or not. And he knows Giggs is going to be the next manager and undo everything he's "building". Why really bother, tbf.
Looking at Bastian in the second half I think he might have been in the 'yellow' zoneThat's true. Maybe in place of the Bastian sub.

If we take as fact, then Giggs is also spineless for not challenging LVG on this. He'll never be a manager if he just sits there and does what he's told.
Some moan in the other thread about LVG not stalking the sidelines - Giggs doesn't do it either.
Which all just makes me stay with the opinion that Giggs isn't a 'leader' at all.

this zone thing he's created isn't going to go away
It's pretty clear, as was with Moyes, that Giggs is just waiting for the job. A nutjob/tinfoil hat man would even suggest Giggs is doing even more than just waiting for the job. But I'm not crazy. If we take as fact, then Giggs is also spineless for not challenging LVG on this. He'll never be a manager if he just sits there and does what he's told.

He's an assistant manager. He'll follow Van Gaal's lead, as a good assistant manager should. Just a shame he's being set such a poor example, quite possibly in every aspect of management.
I have a little sympathy for him there too, to be fair. He has made some drastic changes to the squad in a very short space of time. It's not like he didn't try to buy more players too. We've all heard the stories about Muller and Neymar. There's no point bringing in lesser players who aren't going to improve the squad, but you can only do so much in the time frame he's been here. We clearly have a much stronger squad then when he arrived.i agree but my point is mashy pea face picked them , bought them , or kept them.
This should be the stats of a single player, not a whole team![]()

My criticisms of him lie entirely in his style of play. Not his transfer activity or substitutions.
Our bench strength is absolutely weak. I cannot think of one player who could come in and change the game. He cleared out a lot of supposed dead wood but didn't bring in any quality at all.
Ok now we agree.ok I'll add - he picks they style of play - at the end. he's going backwards.
It's close to a mortal certainty he won't be a good manager, in my view.Don't buy that in it's entirety. If Giggs doesn't like what he sees and given his position (assistant manager) is quite high up - we should be hearing murmurs about disagreements between the two (behind the scenes).
If Giggs is just sitting there seething but not actually saying anything, well then he's not likely to be a good manager at all in my view.
Benitez's shit on a stick football at Liverpool or LVG's philosophy? It's a close call.
Any decent manager wouldn't be lacking upfront if he had just spent 250m pounds.Bullshit that is. We lack the quality up front, the fact we are relying on a 19 year old lad to produce the magic emphasises that. You can't blame everything on tactics, we need at least two attacking players to come in.
