Cristiano Ronaldo - Performances (wums will be thread banned)

Consistency wins the league more often than simply defining who has the most quality. It's arguable who has the most quality within our top teams, but it is obvious who was the most consistent last season. Arsenal and City have lots of quality up front, but are still inconsistent when it comes to getting results. We are ahead of them both so far on merit, so even if you believe their quality is superior, it has to be noted that their respective inconsistency has negated that extra quality, and has still left them currently behind us in the league. As you suggest that could change as the season progresses, but based upon what we have seen so far it could just as easily not. Ronaldo would add goals to our team, -which is currently our main weakness- so i think it's reasonable to suggest our general level of consistency would only be improved by Ronaldo adding significantly to our goal threat.
Thats not really the point being debated. A lot of players would improve us. The best players would obviously improve us the most. It still guarantees feck all. If City go ahead and actually find the consistency to go along with their squad, win the league, and hire Pep Guardiola next summer, this supposed guarantee of league titles is pretty much dead in the water. Same goes for the scenario where we don't win the league this season but end up 5 points behind. Which is why it's a silly to say in the first place, because if a transfer apparently guarantees you the title them it should be an event so positive that it can deal with such variances that might occur. Otherwise it's not actually guaranteeing you anything, except improvement.

My point is that we not being up against a Barcelona is negated by the fact that we aren't as good as Madrid (and won't be even if he comes). So, that logic I see here often is inherently flawed. Btw, Madrid were leading last season (which we aren't), and 3/4 points is a big deal in la liga, and they still didn't win the league. Just goes to show that nothing is guaranteed in football.
But Madrid this year is not that good anyway.

He'll pull a Kobe Bryant wherever he ends up. I liked his recent comments how he doesn't want to end his career in a joke league like the MLS or Qatar but it also tells me that he'll be in denial regarding his own abilities while still demanding to be the main man.
Whoever buys him won't have much success, especially not in the CL, I'm pretty sure about that. At PSG he'll at least get a few domnestic trophies so that should be the best choice for him.
Big transfer sum + huge wages + having that bellend Mendes involved. That's just too much to make it a worthy buy.

13 goals in 16 appearances, still very much the poacher he was last season, and the season before that, still very much the main man, only thing that's different is benitez's system.

Not necessarily saying it's a bad system, he just doesn't like it and it's showing.

He hasn't scored in 9 of his last 13 appearances. Just had to add that.

Ah, fair enough, then i certainly don't agree that signing CR would be a guarantee of sustained success. I was more contesting the relevance of Barca's superiority -over a Ronaldo inspired Madrid- in their league, having any real bearing upon our capacity to win our own. As currently there is not a lot between the top teams in this league, and we do not have to face a team who are anywhere near as gifted, effective or consistent as Barca, and i doubt we will have to in the near future. Therefore adding a player such as Ronaldo to our current squad would surely give us an edge over our domestic rivals as it now stands. But as you suggest, our rivals will obviously strengthen too, and I concede that the unpredictability of future events means it can't and shouldn't be viewed reasonably as a guaranteed ticket to domestic dominance.

However, one thing i think it would guarantee is more than a few PL defenders shitting in their pants at the prospect of facing him back in a Utd shirt!:D

What does that prove? I can show a clip of his that is a better "dribble" than Messi. Does that make him a better dribbler than Messi?

You have to understand the obsessive mentality of Barca fans for posting such clips. No, it doesn't prove anything.

In decline apparently............. 2 goals and 2 assists.
Is in decline though. This is the first season it's been noticeable, but it will just happen over the next couple of years. Will still be one of the top players around, but not one of the best two by the end of the season.

69 goals in 68 games in the worlds toughest competition is quite staggering.
Wait for the ill-informed to come talk about flat-track bully before checking his record against the likes of Bayern & Barca. :smirk:

Definitely wouldn't be a good signing for us... Nooooo. Guys, he's useless now, but meanwhile we rely on Wayne Rooney and pay him 250k a week. Ronaldo's waaaay more finished than Rooney.

People would be quite happy if it's Ronaldo in and Rooney out, but it's not the case is it?

He might not be finished at the moment but at 31 you can't deny that the decline will start sometime soon. Why spend so much money on him when we will only get maybe a good season out of him?

He's a committed bastard though. If he starts declining psychically, fully expect him to remodel his game accordingly. Doesn't look like he'll decline physically just yet though

Zlatan went to PSG when he was about 31 no? and look at the effect he had there.

Ronaldo is one of the best athletes in the game. Unless he gets a major injury, he'll still rattle goals in till he retires.

People seem pretty happy to say that the reason we are doing poorly (even if we are near the TOP of the league) is LVG.

So why can't Ronaldo's decline be also attributable to Rafa?

I am not saying it is but seems agenda-laden both ways.

Some shit sources say he is in gay relationship(even marriage) with Badr Hari.

Thought it might tease some fanboys here. :p

People have been saying it for a while. He's been taking private plane flights after trainings to Morocco.

It's just gossip bullshit though.

I'll be shocked if it doesn't come out one day that he's gay. Probably years after he retires.

He has never had a public relationship except with a model who lived on the other side of the world. He has a boy and there's no sign of a mother. It's not rocket science. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)
