Pep Guardiola at City next?

Pep to City followed by Messi because Pep can't win without the little man.

I hope so, I think he'll flop. Moyes wouldn't have done any worse with a Bayern side that was already built for success. Man City would be a FAR harder job than Barca or Bayern.

Just not true. He'll bring Neymar and Thiago with him phil will elevate City to Bayern/Barca levels.

That's what? 4 contracts he's signed with City so far?
Must be doing a great job with all these contract renewals..

Yep, he's completely shite. @Balu

Why would it be a harder job? The pressure wouldn't be as great as at Barca or Bayern. They've got a brilliant squad and plenty of cash to improve the midfield and they're good to go.

Also the Moyes comment, LOL

Would Bayern wait for Pep to decide what he wanted to do? I feel like he'd be open to a move elsewhere if Bayern won the CL this year.

"(1) News @partidodelas12 PEP GUARDIOLA will not be coach of BAYERN MUNICH from June 30, 2016 and sign for MANCHESTER CITY"

No. We can't wait that long, we need to look for a new manager long before that.

Cadena COPE pretty much go along with Pep to City as well.

MD was not Laporte friendly. The last time guys from the barcaforum told they doubt that anyone from MD has information out of the inner circle of Guardiola.

Laporta, incidentally.

It's true, not only is MD & Sport not reliable when it comes to Pep but they are effectively mouthpieces for the current board ala Marca for Perez

Cadena COPE on the other hand are more reliable despite being Madrid based although I remain skeptical since Pep isn't one to allow a leak of a story like this during the season

City remains the more probable destination, IMHO, but I believe some reporters jumped the gun here...unless the leak was derived from the German club themselves

You do notice that Moyes took the EPL winner to 7th place don;t you?

But that squad individually and collectively shit and should have only finished 6th/7th according to many on here. That's even discounting the impact in terms of shake up a collosus like SAF leaving had on the club.

It wasn't the best of squads and you can find many in here who can witness how much I've criticized that squad. However it wasn't 6th/7th place level either. A decent manager could take them to 4th-5th place easily. A brilliant one on the other hand could compete for honours

Who would you prefer if Pep were to leave? Interesting to see who they will get for the job.
I'd be really annoyed that we missed out on Tuchel by a year. I wouldn't mind if we gave Favre a shot. I really rate him highly. Ideally I'd prefer a young and exciting German manager, but that's difficult right now that Tuchel and Klopp just started working at new clubs. Wouldn't mind someone like Pochettino or Unai Emery if they're willing to go to Germany/learn German.

We could soon have this scenario.

Chelsea: Mourinho
Arsenal: Wenger
City: Guardiola
Liverpool: Klopp
United: Giggs

I do not know if he stays or goes...

But I just cannot see him directly going from one into the next project.

Del Bosque is free after the Euros... Favre and stars and Favre and the media at Bayern... will not work!

original source seems to be this one: http://www.cope.es/detalle/pep-guar...la-proxima-temporada.html?id=2015112623420001

The broadcast "el partido de las 12" is run by two pundits, Joseba Larranaga and Juan Antonio Alcala. Both are journalists (as opposed to ex-sportsmen) and i can't find any close ties to Barcelona in that bit of a vita i could dig out. Alcala seems to have his roots in Madrid.

On a mid-term basis, it is inevitable that the top players and coaches will be EPL-headed given the ammount of money that is spent there atm. As for the immediate future, i am not so sure yet. Especially the date when Pep is supposed to have signed the contract, tuesday, on the same day that Bayern played an important game, seems very out-of-character for such a determined professional as Pep.

Arsenal is a challenger we can deal with. Chelsea were champions last season but not the kind of team that if we become a top team we should fear. The side City are heading towards + Pep is actually scary.

It's an odd sequence of clubs though. Barcelona and Bayern are clubs so rich in history and top level tradition. I would have expected him to prefer United or Arsenal. But we don't know if United have any interest of course.

We should go in for Simeone, when he's available. He can bring Griezmann and Koke with him, as a signing-on bonus.

Sorry to burst your bubble but there is no chance Pochettino is going to leave his Spurs project to take the Bayern job

Simeone and Ancelotti are the obvious choices if they became available, as the next best options after Pep, in terms of their achievements.

On one hand I'm not sure if Simeone is a good fit for United ATM. He's achieved incredible stuff so far at Atletico, but I think United fans want champagne football with a bit of joy to be the aim. Simeone is an attritional coach based on his career so far, a little like Mourinho, in that he likes teams to win a battle rather than mesmerize their opponents. Of course he is so young so will hopefully add many more bows to his repertoire with more experience, but if we go for him he'll have to show that he can do that quickly. Incredible start to his career though. His title win is possibly the most impressive I've seen from a manager in a top league.

Ancelotti on the other hand is proven at top clubs that play more expansive football and is undeniably someone who seems to bring people together. He's been loved pretty much everywhere he's gone which suggests his man management is impeccable. The downside with him is that I'm not sure he's a squad builder. His challenge would be to turn us into something we would not be.

I rail against this notion a bit. I've watched a fair few Atletico games against the 'other' teams in La Liga and, at times, they've played some really lovely stuff - certainly much better football than United fans have experienced over the last 3 years or so.

When Barca and Real come to town Simeone digs the trenches, battens down the hatches, shuts up shop, but that is only out of necessity due to the fact they have far superior squads (although I remember them tearing Real apart with great football). I think a lot of people only catch that side of Atletico and generalise it, inferring that they play really pragmatic, blood-and-guts football all the time. It's quite the opposite.

I think Simeone would take to the PL like a duck to water.

Nobody does, but it would be awfully irresponsible of United to let Guardiola go to City without a fight.
