Sorry to burst your bubble but there is no chance Pochettino is going to leave his Spurs project to take the Bayern job
Indeed. I'd have him as top priority right now given LVG is not here for very long. It would not only be hugely irresponsible not to go after possibly the best manager around, but a big loss to us with respect to our local rivals City. I can see them being very hard to catch with Pep at the helm.Nobody does, but it would be awfully irresponsible of United to let Guardiola go to City without a fight.
I think he's joking - according to GlastonSpur, Pochettino is more committed to Spurs than a squirrel to a nut.
They definitely do play some nice stuff. They at times take on teams on the front foot that you wouldn't have imagined Atletico doing 10 years back. But he definitely is a tad conservative as a manager in that his teams give off that Chelsea-esque vibe. There are games when they are emphatic, and games where they just rough others up, and most of the time it's in between but with a slant in aforementioned direction.I rail against this notion a bit. I've watched a fair few Atletico games against the 'other' teams in La Liga and, at times, they've played some really lovely stuff - certainly much better football than United fans have experienced over the last 3 years or so.
When Barca and Real come to town Simeone digs the trenches, battens down the hatches, shuts up shop, but that is only out of necessity due to the fact they have far superior squads (although I remember them tearing Real apart with great football). I think a lot of people only catch that side of Atletico and generalise it, inferring that they play really pragmatic, blood-and-guts football all the time. It's quite the opposite.
I think Simeone would take to the PL like a duck to water.
Like today?Bild are saying he will renew.
To be fair to him, this season there has been a noticeable change in their playing style where they are aiming to go out and dominate games more. They have been playing better football then last year too. They definitely do play some nice stuff. I'm a big admirer though. Like I said, the league win was as impressive as any trophy win by any manager I've witnessed. So, if he can embrace the new culture, language and all of that, he could be a huge success.
Kinda, they made an 'analysis' and listed reasons for him to go or stay and concluded that he'll stay, but it's all speculation. It seems as if they know feck all, which most likely means that the club still doesn't know what Guardiola will do. Bild are really well informed when it comes to Bayern. Guardiola's agent said only a few days ago that he doesn't know what Pep will do next, so it seems unlikely that a deal with City is already done.Like today?
Edit: meant Bild said so today?
It feels as if he drags it out for no particular reason or at least didn't give a clear time table when he plans to make a decision, which would have allowed us to say from the start when a decision will be made. For a year now, Rummenigge had to tell us about talks that will happen later. You don't really have a choice with him, but I find it annoying and as much as I'd like to have him at the club for a few more years, I wouldn't want it to be like this every season.Extending his contract by a year is a pretty honest statement and I wouldn´t have any problems with that. There wouldn´t be any room for further speculations. If he´d extend his contract by two years, you can be 100% sure, that he´ll be asked about one billion times whether or not he actually stays two years. I dont know anyone who actually believes that he´d stay for another two years in Munich.
I also understand, that he takes time to evaluate his options. That is more than enough time to find a replacemen. He has to make a clear decision at this point in time so, because we shouldn´t play the crucial part of the season with rumors flying around.
We could soon have this scenario.

If it fails, it'd be a disaster far worse than even Moyes. We'd have not only undone everything van Gaal has developed but you can be sure that there's no way Giggs gets fired till we give him atleast 2 seasons regardless of how bad it goes. That will be a very dark era for us, that's for certain. In fact i'm not sure we would return from that scenario as a top force.
You'll get the ultra romantics who'll tell you that it might work out so it's worth the risk, which is just pure madness. It'd be an absolute disaster. That will be a very dark era for us, that's for certain. In fact i'm not sure we would return from that scenario as a top force.
It doesn't necessarily have to be like that if Giggs stuffs it up. Woodward and co would have to be strong, forget his past as a player, treat him like anybody else and judge him solely on his performances as a manager. If it fails, it'd be a disaster far worse than even Moyes. It's unlikely, but a clubs hierarchy is there to make the tough, hard, ruthless decisions. How likely do you think that is considering his stature at the club and the entire romanticism with which the appointment will be made and supported by everyone? We have an inept Moyes a full season almost.
Yeah, no arguments there but it doesn't quite work that way in real life. Club legends will always get more time. It's unlikely, but a clubs hierarchy is there to make the tough, hard, ruthless decisions.
Rumours were that he signed a pre-contract with City to take over next summer. Pelle's extension was to be a red herring/reward.Wasn't he meant to join City this summer? Heard a load of journalists spout "done deal" bollocks. They obviously have no idea.
That's why we can't do it. If it fails it'll be very uncomfortable. How likely do you think that is considering his stature at the club and the entire romanticism with which the appointment will be made and supported by everyone? We have an inept Moyes a full season almost.

City's ITK'S are getting a bit giddy now especially as rumours suggest Pep's giving today's presser a swerve.
I know nothing just passing on rumours from people who are fairly reliable.
Yep. Basically Pep is City coach since 2014, got sacked for Pep in 2015 and will get sacked again in favour of Pep in 2016. Guess he couldn't make it in the Prem.Wasn't he meant to join City this summer? Heard a load of journalists spout "done deal" bollocks. They obviously have no idea.

Obviously if he extends by a year and makes it clear early enough that it'll be his final season, I won't complain. But if it's a one year extension with 'let's see what happens the following year' added to it, I'll hate it.
If that happens, we would be in trouble. Would much rather Ancelotti.I hope Woodard isn't a spectator in this whole thing and is actively trying to get him. If we allow him move to City and promote Giggs, we will regret it for many years.
I don't take it personal, I don't care if he has done and will do the same at 10 other clubs, I just find it truely annoying and as much as I rate him, I don't think we should put up with it year after year after year. It's important to remember that he did the same dance repeatedly at his home and childhood club Barca, so we don't have to take it personal.
City haven't been the strongest team available in England for a while now
Unless you read about them on here, then Barca can only rival them but even then...
It is annoying, and most of all it's pretty silly that he seems to be offended by journos asking about it, when the only reason why they have somthing to ask about is his diva act in the first placeI don't take it personal, I don't care if he has done and will do the same at 10 other clubs, I just find it truely annoying and as much as I rate him, I don't think we should put up with it year after year after year.
Klopp at Liverpool, Jose at Chelsea, Pep at City and Giggs for us. I am pretty sure we will go through a very long barren spell. Just the thought makes me quake. We cannot afford to let it happen.I will honestly stop watching football for the length of his tenure at City (if he goes there), because they will dominate the league while we fade away under dismal management.
I wouldn't state publicly that there won't be an extension. But I would tell Guardiola, that we're forced to look for alternatives because we can't wait, miss out on quality options and be left in a desperate situation. And that once we found an alternative and made an official offer, we can't go back to him again. It's a shitty situation and I hate it that we have to put pressure on him, because I really want him to stay, best case longterm. But again, if he wants to act like a diva with his contract extension every year from now on, he can feck off for all I care. It annoys me.Would be an interesting situation to play through if he STILL didn't want to say anything then. Let's say it's December 22nd, they have a meeting and Pep goes "I'm sorry, I still can't say I'll extend. Not saying I won't, just can't make the decision yet.."
Would you say our club should go ahead, state there won't be an extension and look to sign a new coach?

What your experiencing now is nothing compared to what you will experience if the said managerial changes happen.I just don't think I could stomach it; it's bad enough as things are. I could take it if we played good football, but this rot we currently play just makes me dread every game.
