Absolutely fecking amazed people thought today classified as a "good" performance. Maybe it's just how far expectations have fallen, or maybe it looked different on the TV, but honestly... Showing attacking intent for around 30 minutes, when you spend the other 60 playing like clueless fecking idiots does not equate to a good performance.

We were shite today. Can hardly complain that we didn't come out with a win at all.

No chance of Valencia/Rojo or Shaw being fit soon. Does that mean Jones at Rb when fit? I would prefer him at CB with Smalling.

True. If Jones is fit I would play him at CB with Smalling, Blind at LB and Young at RB. Darmian isn't good enough.

Maybe that point at Leicester was creditable, but we could have had more as we could against City if we had gone for it.

if we end up really close to the title, we'll really curse a lot of these missed opportunities.

It's often said how "Open" a league is at this stage, but normally it splits to a 2 horse race. I wonder how it'll pan out this year.

First mission, is to keep the points gap from Chelsea as high as possible, as we all suspect they have a long winning run in them.
To increase the lead after a stale home draw is amazing.

14 point lead!

you don't think we'll be in it?
I think Chelsea have guaranteed we will be, and it'll be from Spurs/Liverpool for 4th place.

No way Leicester are staying even top 4.
Should be noted that they're only 3 points ahead, not 10, and they do start playing a hard run of teams now.

I think we will be in the top 4 but we have to be after what we have spent. The way we are playing is what is making most of us fed up.

We only have a slim chance of getting through to the next round of the CL. there is no excuse.

our problem is midfield...still.

we could have conceeded sure...we did not score. But we did not dominate midfield.

we need some good quality signings there in addition to the obvious strikers and wingers.
We had a lad who went off injured, then two old players, one of whom came off. Carrick needs to go in the summer and I am now doubting the signing of BFS as a first choice pick. What is the point if he cannot play two games on the trot without being knackered. He is still class but needs to be used sparingly.

Isn't a bad shout in a lot of the home games, as Young is decent defensively, and makes up an extra attacker

The PSV game certainly upset us. But I'm hoping we have a good performance in us.

I wanna get up to OT for a 2nd round glamour game dammit.

We need Herrera back. Herrera and Fellaini ahead of one DM is good enough to quite easily control the midfield but LVG will never play it.

We will likely get 4th, but if we do then it is absolutely no progress.

Don't worry we wont.

In four games time, when we're out of the top four and below the vermin, I'll be interested in hearing the views of the

"We're only a couple of points off top spot" brigade.

My beef with LVG has nothing to do with where we are in the league. It is because the type of football we play is just awful. It has been awful for a very long time with just a handful of one-off matches.

He's steadied a sinking ship, but I just don't see a return to attacking entertaining football until he's gone.

not questioning Bastian's quality. Carrick too is quality. But these two players as you know cannot play two full games a week. And Morgan while very good, it not top quality.

As the saying goes, a match of football is won or lost in midfield. Our midfield is not the best in the league sadly.

Carrick as the one DM I actually like, he has not been great, but not sure he is with another DM. He can pick out a pass and him being able to play CB makes his defensive capabilities good. I think shines as you say with two attacking midfielders in front of him.

well, we're using the league position to condone it. if the league position goes, we won't, it's simple!

You can get away with sh!t football if you're right up there, but if you're not, it'll fall away.

Doesn't help with Klopp getting sokme good early performances out of a poor squad, and certainly doesn't help with Leicester playing like some Keeganesque mid 90s outfit.

this a fair criticisim. The league is so wide open we have kin Lecister heading it. Good for them. But we should be tearing teams like them and West Ham apart.

I mean feck the philisophy.

I get the negativity after so many dull 0-0 matches but today was different, there was more aggressive attacking, short balls that would normally go sideways went forwards, Lingard was excellent, Martial was excellent, it was end to end, we gave up chances but there was a sense something was going to happen, that was a positive, pity Fellaini or Martial couldn't finish but it is a long time since we opened up teams like that to create such good chances, that made it all the more frustrating but to many it is the same 0-0 shite we have been watching, it wasn't, but the result was the same, we will need the same type of attacking effort and more during the week.

We need to score goals to move forward. The longer we go without scoring the harder it becomes to score.

it is very alarming we've gone from a team who one 0-0 a season stands out as rare, to a team racking them up by the bucket. I make that 4 home 0-0s in 6 weeks! And we've had an international break in there too.

I can recall the Martial chance in the first half, his miss in the second, Fellaini, Mata and Lingard also missed chances but I'd say only Fellaini 'should've' scored. The other chances would've been fairly impressive finishes.

I just think people are reaching a bit in order to say that things are on the up.

I mean, the only chances of ours that I would say were really really good chances... as in the "he should definitely have scored there" were the Fellaini and Martial chances... and maybe the Lingard one.... Yet I think only Fellaini's can even compare to the two chances West Ham had, so what does that tell you?

We're saying "oh we created loads of chances" where, actually, we should be creating so many more of these types of chances... yet we make 2 or 3 a game and we expect to win off the back of it - despite the fact that there isn't one person in the entire squad who can be relied upon for goals.

For about 30 minutes... what about the other hour of the game?

Yes, but I think it is a far cry from the hopelessness of Moyes. I'm not discounting the frustration from all of us, which is fair. But I personally don't think this game is the tipping point.
Moyes qualified top of his UCL group let's see if LvG can even make it out of his group.

I'm all about philosopy...IF it is playing the Manchester United way. And I don't care if people have a go at me. The Co92 would be whom I would consult if I were the board. What our philosopy should be. Its not just about winning. Its about winning with purpose. Direct and aggressive. We have played one match this season...away to Everton....was that a brainstorm by van Gaal.

He's spent £140m net on 11 first team players in two years (starting position: 7th):

Depay, Darmian, Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Romero, Martial, Herrera, Shaw, Rojo, Di Maria, Blind.

We've also let go since he has arrived:

Anderson, Zaha, Fletcher, Welbeck, Kagawa, Evra, Giggs, Ferdinand, Buttner, Hernandez, Van Persie, Nani, Cleverley, Evans (and Di Maria).

...and to be honest, we were right to let every single one of them go.

Our rivals have also spent big money, only on settled squads. City have spent £170m net in that time with nothing like the turnover of players.
All of which is entirely fair enough . But... £140m is still a significant net spend for a team that can scarcely buy a goal at the moment . And we went into the season with just Rooney, Martial and Wilson as out and out strikers. Van Gaal is the author of that. Whatever argument anyone wants to bring about his work on the defence/midfield/clearing out the dead wood, that seems negligent. And it's got worse because Rooney has been crap, is now injured and Wilson has been loaned out. We're coming into a crucial part of the season and look under gunned.

I agree, Carrick sitting deep shielding the defense and pinging passes forward while Herrera and Fellaini assist in attack and defense is our best midfield IMO.

I didn't see the game but I can imagine only too well what you all saw.

I just fecking knew it. 3rd time in a row I travel to Manchester and the game ends 0-0. I even put money on it this time for a laugh so the trip basically paid for itself.

So many back passes. So unclinical in front of goal, and not the slightest sense of urgency.. feck off!

I feel you tre kronor, I've travelled to Old Trafford two times and yet to see us score, last May RvP even missed a penalty.

No it's definitely not and Moyes was far worse but it's still getting quite worrying.

Getting knocked out of the champions league from the group stage could well be the tipping point for a lot of people though. 7 draws in our last 10 in all comps, barely scoring even 1 goal a game, and then a game that even the likes of Bayern/Barca/Madrid wouldn't be comfortable with leaving as a must win. Hope we step up and get the result we need, but it'll be very tough for sure.

The draw was the fair result, a crap result and yet another 0 0. We really need a world class forward who can do his job at scoring, that would make a big difference. Look at De Gea and Smalling and the effect they have, we need that in our forward line and we will look totally different. It would give confidence and extra belief to the team. The foundations are there but were just missing our world class forward.
