FC Bayern 2015/16

Replaced a top coach with another for the second time in a row. No hassle. Top club. I'm jealous.

Every coach we hired after Klinsmann had previously won at least one UCL title. Seems like Jürgen caused some lasting damage with Rummenigge & Co.

2 of the 3 before Klinsmann also had won the CL/EC. Only Magath and Klinsmann are exceptions in the last 20 years.

True, Trappatoni and Hitzfeld had great European wins on their record and Otto had at least the Cup Winner's Cup as well as a splendid national record. Then on the other hand we hired Ribbeck and Lerby before that...

Uli and Kalle obviously always tried to hire the best coach possible but I feel the Klinsmann disaster definitely left some scars. It's not like there are no German coaches whatsoever who have the potential for the Bayern job.

That being said, a proven cup expert like Ancelotti is the right choice for a team that is build to win now rather than in 3-4 years.

How is that even a despicable character assassination?. Seems like a well balanced article more or less.

This is what a despicable article would look like - http://i.imgur.com/l8nr647.jpg

With the Most annoying non-United Poster more or less in the bag, it looks like FCBarca may very well be making a late push for Biggest Wum :p.

I'm sure you don't even realise in your holier-than-thou attitude how you look down on other fans and clubs, when you're telling them they're a bit stupid, sorry naive, for even hoping that Pep might extend.

That somehow reminded me of this classic .
Internet, learn to use it

Prediction time:

I think Ancelotti is going to give you the CL in the next few years, but he is going to lose at least one - if not more league titles to Dortmund. His league record is quite poor and while I don't think that Dortmund can reach Bayern's level anytime soon, there will come a day when the gap between Dortmund and the rest of the league (except for Bayern) is so big that Dortmund will reach Bayern's ridiculous level of consistency. The league will then basically be decided in the two matches between the two. And anyone can win those.

Like Barca, what must it be like actually being able to not only sign the best of your respective countrymen at the club but the best in the world too....

That would be like us having Pep here but equally the likes of Stones and Kane...

Oh yes, what a beauty. It's also telling that he was never seen in that thread again. I mean how difficult can it be to admit that you fecked up and say sorry on an anonymous internet forum.

Great choice by Bayern. Quality manager and a very likeable person too.

In your mind, everything is a dig at Bayern eh?

Be fair now, he didn't say that at all. He said your posts are a dig at Bayern. I'm new here, does the world revolve around you?

Pep said in his presser that Götze, Ribéry and Benatia won't train with the team in the training camp. What's up with Götze? I thought he would be fit for the start of the second half of the season. :(

Our new favorite hobby at Bayern is to severely misjudge the length of injuries.

Loved the Alaba one. 'It's nothing, don't worry, he will be back in no time!' and now he still has problems. But at least he's joining the team.

Only 3 of the bigger names injured? I'm sure we can double that number until the 2nd half of the season starts and will probably add 2 more in the first match after the winterbreak.

If all else fails, the next international fixture break will help us out with some crippling injuries.

On a more serious note: I genuinely think Ribery is done. It's just been too much for too long now. If (IF!) Costa stays fit, he has to start every important game.

I'd love it if Ribery can help us as an impact sub for 2 more years, similarly to how Scholl played for us and provided so many game changing moments coming from the bench between 04 and 06. I also can't see him reaching a fitness level that allows him to start regularly and stay healthy.

I think that will start to happen anyways. It will be phased in more as the season (potentially next season to) progresses.

Or United in our heyday when we had Fergie and the likes of Scholes, Beckham, Sheringham, Cole, the Nevilles and Butt (not to mention Keane, Irwin and Giggs.)

It also feel that they have a clear game plan. If a player or manager wants to leave, they know exactly who and what they want. No panic or "what shall we do now" attitude

That used to be a weakness of Bayern in the past. It changed recently. I couldn't pinpoint it for the life of me, but something in me wants to say "It all turned around when Sammer came..." but that may be totally based in fantasy.

Yet another despicable character assassination of Pep, by Bayern's 'mouthpiece/lackey/spokesperson' (choose as you see fit). FCBarca is going to be enraged.

Pep Guardiola has been accused of “double-crossing” Bayern Munich by Lothar Matthaus, who says he is already planning his Manchester City squad.

Guardiola announced earlier this week that he intended to manage in the Premier League after the expiration of his current three-year deal at Bayern, which runs out in the summer.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been heavily linked with the Spaniard, but Manchester City seems the most likely destination for the former Barcelona boss.

Bayern legend Matthaus, who won seven Bundesliga titles in 12 years with the Bavarian giants, has hit out at Guardiola’s recent actions.

“Guardiola can say what he wants,” Matthaus told SportBild. “The squad planning for Manchester City is too important for him to have his head 100 percent with Bayern Munich. That’s a dangerous double-crossing situation to be in.

“Guardiola will have five difficult months in Munich.

“I don’t want to beat around the bush: There never was true love between Guardiola and the Bayern players. His hugs? It was all a big show.”

Gaudino is going to St. Gallen on a loan. Good deal.

According to a report in Sueddeutsche, Bayern's scouting the department has the task to constantly update a 'shadow squad' of players around Europe who could fill each position at Bayern München should one become vacant.

I think the efficiency of this policy has become quite apparent.

In other news, Lothar Matthäus is still a sad joke. Luckily he's as far away from beikg a spokesperson for our club as humanly possible. Unfortunately he still has his job as a pundit on Sky Sport.

The thought of him being a spokesperson for us is frigthening. It's great that he left in such a bad way so that it won't ever happen. And we already have our fair share of morons with questionable morals, who regularly embarrass the club, but Matthäus would top it all.

It's hard to understand why we have fallen behind and don't seem to have a professional, state of the art approach. City and other clubs took over in terms of youth development and scouting. Top clubs around Europe seem to have a clear game plan while we floating around somewhere except when it comes to commercial deals.

Ok so I've been planning a 'Bayern Spring Form Watch' post/thread for while (post will suffice).
But the news around Pep not extending end of last year got me a bit down, and I was less interested in concerning myself with Bayern last month, as it was a bit off-putting. Don't think I've followed news from a winter training camp as little in recent years as this one, I don't even know who's fit or not.

The way the club handled the Pep news with the immediate Carlo announcement and the player extensions was pretty great. But still it all leaves the aftertaste of a charade, for me. Also, I'm kind of mad and angry at Pep even though I know I don't have a reason to be so. Part of me even wouldn't mind if we don't win shit now with him. It's not the main part though.

Anyway, the question now is: How will our form be for the rest of this season?

Looking back, we've been absolutely fantastic in the autumns of all three Pep's seasons. We've been decidedly worse, arguably terrible at points, in both springs so far.
The term 'Herbstmeister' seems indeed apt for Pep and his tenure.
Now I don't know how much of a pattern is there. There can be different reasons, and maybe there's no pattern at all.

But this is not only about results, or losing in CL semis. Neither is it about only meeting 'real opponents' in spring, as people claim.
We've met, and comprehensively beat, top opponents in the autumns.
In March/April of both last seasons, we've lacked all that made us great half a year before - composure, speed, fluidity, precision, creativity, swagger, in short - QUALITY.

When we lost the Rückrunde-opener at Wolfsburg last season, it looked like in the training camp weeks we had actually trained how to NOT play together, how to misunderstand your teammates etc. I never felt we truly regained the form of October/November at any point, except maybe the Porto home game.

The season before it was similar. We weren't convincing from the start of 2014, but completely collapsed after the brilliant first half away at Hertha sealed the Meisterschaft. We scraped past a dismal Man United. We were thoroughly out of ideas and out of energy against Real.

Of course, this hasn't only happened with Pep. I recall in horror the self-proclaimed, much-touted bestest training camp ever in history, January 2012..

Now there can be a lot of reasons for this.

Does the winter break destroy our flow?
Does entering the winter break knowing the championship is almost decided lead to too much loss of intensity?
Were the injuries mainly to blame last year, and the year before the saturation of a post trble season kicking in (in that scenario, it would have little to do with Pep)?
Does Pep's way of perpetual changing up things and informational input wear the players down mentally during the course of a season?
Is there a problem with fitness training?
Or is this all not really a thing, just many coincidences?

What do you think?

And most of all, do you think the story will repeat itself AGAIN this spring?

How is the state of our team? Does the fact that Pep is leaving change things?

I guess we'll have a first little indication in a few hours.

Your winter brake is ridiculous. Missed watched you guys.

Does the winter break destroy our flow?
It definitely does, but it's never been as extreme as under Pep. I'm really worried about the CL knockout games against Juve, because they play brilliant right now, they really found fantastic form and I expect them to get even better until we meet them. We need to get our act together, especially in the 1st leg away at Juve. We've been truely awful in away games against quality sides under Pep.

Oh and
