Misses penalty.

He is back!

Another incredibly poor performance from him so far but looking back people will just see the goal.

That celebration seems rather OTT after scoring a penalty.
Where have you been? Ronaldo celebrates the same way when he scores a pen. He even removed his shirt once with his team 3-1 up.

Yea I know he does it after every goal, just commenting that it's a bit ridiculous after a pen.

@SirAF not done creaming himself?

The amount of goals do not always guarantee silverware, but those questioning his talent are better off playing chess against their shadow.

My point is no one should be blaming Ronaldo for their lack of trophies, if anything he's been let down by his team mates, various managers and maybe even Perez.

Honestly I understand people's apprehension about re-signing an ageing talent like Ronaldo, plus common sense suggests that there's little chance of him recreating his current form in the Premier League and deep down if we're honest with ourselves all this is, is a bunch of silly conjecture based on the minuscule possibility that he might return but by God I can't help but want him back. I'll see myself out.

Yet Madrid fans still boo him, and other idiots try to make out Ronaldo is one of the reasons for Madrid's average trophy haul in recent years. Madness.
Its similar to how we treat Rooney (granted on another scale), their style of play is restricted to "pass the ball to Ronaldo". They have a very talented squad but when everyones playing second fiddle to him it doesnt make for good football and its not hard to see why the fans are disgruntled.

I'd say Barca are the main reason for Madrids average trophy haul but this season Ronaldo has been so poor its no wonder their fans want him droped

that is just nonsense. He always played with worldclass players and had great managers (Mourinho, Ancelotti). He compares himself to Messi and says that he is the best player in the world. Yet Messi was and is able to carry Barca on his own and that is something that Ronaldo never did. Yes, Barca had various other worldclass players in their ranks and nobody expects Real to match their title collection, but winning one CL and one league title in 6 seasons is still poor. Obviously it is not only down to him, but he is certainly also not blameless. In the end you expect players like him to make the difference when it matters and wasn´t able to do that very often, while Messi did it all the time.

Come on this is nonsense. If a player in your team is scoring 60+ goals in a season. There isn't more that player can do. And lets be honest a huge reason for madrid's down fall has never been their attack. Defensively they have always been an absolute joke.

Doing alright for a bad season...

If you give penalties a weighted score of 0.1 and tap-ins/goals without dribbles a weighted score of 0.5 his goal tally comes to 20.6 by my calculations. Pffft, pretty pedestrian.

On a more serious note, he is in a terrible rut of form. Even his goalscoring has suffered. An extended break would do him a lot of good. Age catches up to all but there's no reason why he can't deliver with the right setup for a few years more.

They've always been able to score goals. It's their hilarious defense that has undone them so many times in the CL (Bayern, Dortmund, etc...), used to cringe every time Ramos was mentioned as a world class defender.

Nah, people will look back and remember the brilliant game winning volley he scored.

Must be coincedence you didn't turn up to this thread after that goal.

I know you're Argentinian, but to say Messi carried Barca on his own, good grief that's just so wrong.

Yep it's weird for me when people criticize Ronaldo for madrid's trophy haul when all you need to do is watch a couple of their matches that 90% of goals they concede are terrible defensive errors. The likes of Ramos and Pepe are always hilariously out of position and dive in at ever opportunity.

I'd love it if we had a player who could score tap-ins or a penalty. RIght now, we are struggling to score even 1 goal. Right now, our players can score a tap-in (1m from the goal mouth).
Ronaldo is a goal machine. If you want goals - get Ronaldo. If you want some pretty passing, any of MUFC's attacking 4 can do that. They won't score goals, but they will pass the ball all day long.
Goals (including tap-ins) win you games and I think some fans seem to forget this.

His whole team is playing for him to get goals. A lot of them are sacrificing themselves so he is always able to be in position.

If he was more of a team player could it be possible that Real Madrid would be a better team?

I suppose we can't really know but his team are all making sure he is getting the goals.

Messi moved out on the wing last season to accommodate Suarez rather than him getting his way and wanting Suarez to play for him.

The same way we did when he played for us and we won 3 leagues in a row, got to 2 champions league finals and a league cup. It's not a new idea that your team accommodates its best player. Teams have been doing that all the through history. The problem for madrid was never about whether they score enough. It's the ridiculous amount of goals they concede.

Last season Barca won by 2 points but scored 8 less goals but conceded 20 less goals, If madrid had conceded 5 less goals they definitely win the league

13/14 madrid score 30 more goals than athletico but concede 12 more. If they concede the same amount of goals as barca did then they win la liga.

Its no surprise they won the league in 11/12 because they still scored their regular amount which is always the highest in the league but they conceded their lowest amount of goals since Ronaldo has been there. It's obvious what Madrid's problem is and its not Ronaldo.

I don't understand why some people feel the need to lie everyone else about his form this season, probably themselves too. It's quite obvious he is nowhere near his best, not even in terms of goalscoring. Not sure why is it so hard to admit it.

One look on his match history and you'll see immediately that his season is far from impressive in terms of goalscoring, and that's his strongest asset.
He has failed to score or even assist in 11out of 23 Real Madrid games this season. And when you take into account that he was invisible in pretty much every big game this season then of course he'll be criticised. Btw, I am not saying it's only his fault if they fail to win those games, but I am not sure he deserves much praise either.

But yeah, roll on penalties against Vallecanos, Malmos, etc. I am quite sure it will mean a lot when they finish another season winning nothing.

I am quite sure Real Madrid fans will agree.

 Such pathetic haters like him make this thread all the more delightful.

Do you know what 'so far' means?

Overall he had a poor game again anyway, with one moment of magic. Which is fine on an isolated basis but really he needs to start influencing games over 90 minutes.
