Cristiano Ronaldo - Performances (wums will be thread banned)

It wasn't so much the carrying part as the 'crap' squad part. Barcelona probably had the better team but look at some of the players in that Madrid side! Khediera, Alonso, Di Maria, Ozil, Benzema, Higuian... there's some fantastic players there.

They're quality players but of those the likes of Khediera and Higuan aren't all the special while Di Maria, Ozil and Benzema are good but still behind that Xavi, Iniesta and co attack. Maybe we disagree on this part but my point is still that Ronaldo was way ahead of his peers in that team.

Notably quiet in the frantic later stages of the game there despite the end to end stuff that was being played.

He was quiet all game aside from the assist.

Only saw the final 15 mins or so, although it does seem to be a recurring theme that he's often very quiet aside from when he's scoring/assisting. You'd certainly expect him to be the one who's a driving force when his team is pushing for a goal at the end of a game, and he really wasn't at all. Bale looked more threatening.

Didn't look up to much tonight. Miss the days of watching Ronaldo at his best. Lets just hope we don't plan on offering silly money for him.

You wouldn't because he just isn't that type of player. He hasn't been that type of player for a long while now.

if he plays like this every game then I wonder how can anyone still want him back here especially for the silly money he would go for. Harry Kane would certainly do us better and he doesn't look like he came from a tanning saloon

Are there any questions about his level of desire?

As in, does anyone think if he moved to another team he'd switch it on a bit in terms of impact on play?

I don't think so. He seems to be satisfied with just being a goal-getter.

25 goals in 24 games this season. Not too bad. Probably is start of decline, but that's impressive. Also has about 8 assists I think.

A player that's scored 25 goals already this season is having a poor season?

This just shows what insane standards Ronaldo is held-up against.

- I haven't watched his performances so I can't put his goal scoring into context. But looking at the stats alone, he's killing it.

:lol::lol::lol:
That's brilliant. I don't like him and I actually think he's past it but the constant hating nowadays is annoying me way more. I'll welcome the time when both, Messi and him, will have retired.

Because of some jobless idiots on the internet?

Watching these two live throughout their careers has been an experience that I cannot describe in words, and I hope it lasts as long as possible. The trolls can go feck themselves.

Stats really don't tell the whole story in this case. The breakdown of the opponents his scored in isn't very impressive, and that's before getting into his actual performances.

I wouldn't be surprised if Madrid fans were annoyed at his performances now, his biggest defenders this season seem to be people who haven't actually watched him.

Yeah, I did realise that he scored in relatively fewer games. Which is why I mention the start of decline. But, to put it into context -- he has more assists than Rooney has goals and assists 8>6(1).

25 goals in 25 games this season. Hardly woeful now is it? Pretty unreal. That's what he is these days.

I don't think he has ever been as exciting as 2006/07.

Doesn't make for the best reading when wanting to argue against the flat-track bully claims. That's really pretty poor..... As far as scoring 25 goals in half a season is concerned.

That's like comparing De Gea and Taibi.

Still great to score 25 goals, but tells something about his form. Flat track bully, but still a great one.

I think a distinction should be made regarding flat-track bully claims. Over his career he's demolished a lot of big teams, so I wouldn't call him that over his career.

This season it's a very fair comment though.

Yeah, I really stand by this. It's obviously not because of a few trolls on the internet but I really feel the bipolar focus that has evolved around Messi&Ronaldo in the recent years brought a lot of shit side effects. Its even worse that they play for Barca & Real, people choose one side and get so stuck into their black and white mantra, it's just awful. I recently watched a Barca game in a pub (can't even remember who was the opponent) and got accused by some strangers of being a Real fan when I cheered as Barca's opponent scored. I told them to get fecked, that I always support the underdog and dislike both, Barca and Real, and they looked totally baffled that someone could actually dislike one club without being a fan of the other. And that was in the UK, not in Spain.
And its the same with Ronaldo/Messi, balon dor hype, goals counting, tap ins counting, it has almost become a religious thing. Look at this thread, the minute the game did end, we have a Barca fan immediately posting that he played shit.
I'm really happy when its over, I'd also have no problems from a football perspective if it would end now. I'd like to see Messi win a WC but that's about it, they've been around long enough already, it's been almost 10 years since the football world started to circle around these two. I prefer more change, Ronaldinho was perfect, 4-5 years of great football, win everything, make space for others. That's long enough for me to appreciate someones football.

He's a Liverpool fan, not a Barca fan.

He's a Liverpool fan who kinda picked Barca as his second club (probably because their performances have a better impact on your health than pool's performances) as I see him posting more stuff related to Barca than to Liverpool anyway.

He has been really poor vs the better teams this season.

He's just not making enough of an impact nor is he scoring goals to mask average or sub-par performances like before at times.

He's been well below par this season but the way some circle around this thread like vultures every time he doesn't have a great game is a bit strange IMO. The ones who bump it every time he scores i can still understand, given sometimes you have idols growing up, or something like that. At least it's a positive happy thing. The ones who seek opportunity to mock, I really just don't get.

I thought you were one of them.

I'm more likely to get into a long to and fro discussion than that.
