It's a bit pathetic really. Who cares about support and history when there's a shiny new toy. Secretly Man City fans will be feeling apathetic towards this. Why appoint Pep when in two years there will be a hot new manager to court. City used to pride themselves on their homegrown appeal, local fans and commitment. Now they have to put up with this.
Make sure that Jose will take the job in the summer, if Giggs doesn't like it he can piss off.
I can't see anything changing with ourselves - LVG will be here next season, Giggs will then takeover after that. The activities of the title challenging clubs doesn't concern us at all, so I can't see our club's plan changing due to this or any other appointment.

For all their riches, they haven't actually been that bad when it comes to their handling of managers. The owners went there in 2008, and have had 3 managers in 8 years. That's not really a terrible record, especially compared to the likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid.
I feel like it's harsh on Pellegrini, yeah, but the question has to be asked as to who the better manager is between Pellegrini and Guardiola. And the answer, quite unanimously, is Guardiola. So, if you have a chance to get Guardiola, then it's potentially daft to turn him down. Pellegrini's done a decent job (and could have a successful season), but when you look at our club's current dithering, you can perhaps see why City are deciding to act proactively, as harsh as it may be.
Seems like some people had convinced themselves that Pep hadn't made his mind up, when it was obvious months ago he was going to City. Like everything else, our name gets thrown in to the mix to sell papers/clicks and some of us lap it up. He wouldn't have announced he was leaving Bayern unless he already knew where he was going.

I was thinking we should stay with LVG until end of season as there might be possibility to get Pep at the end of it but now we might as well get in Mourinho as he is the best realistic target we can hope to get. Let him take over now, get used to the team/lay down his foundations and then he can take on Pep next season.
Despite the negative set up in big games, Mourinho's teams do actually play good football. His Madrid side were entertaining as were some of his Chelsea side. I would take him here regardless of the baggage he brings. Blanc would be a decent shout also, but it remains to be seen if he can do it outside of France.

The United board need to get off their arses and find someone worthy of going head to head with Pep. Only one man comes to mind, but sadly he doesn't seem to resonate with the likes of Sir Bobby Charlton.
If we don't hire a massive improvement on LVG, this club shall suffer in the long term.
Having said that, don't expect Pep to have an easy ride. The PL is a different kettle of fish, and the quality of City's squad is far from the squads he had at Bayern and Barca.

Calm the feck down. Getting Jose in and spending shit load of money isn't going to change the narrative all of a sudden. He will still be stuck with the same squad that lvg leaves behind. I think it is a shit approach to pander to whatever the market expects us to do. We have already been there few seasons ago with lvg(money splurged & philosphies learnt). I rather we show faith in Giggsy(who has been working behind the scenes for the last 2 years) and see how it goes. United fans always overreact to news like this. Very typical of us. Stop building these crazy narratives in your head, the proof is right in front of us. Hiring&firing or splurging have gotten us nowhere.
