Sunderland 2:1 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

What about Rooneys post match. For me it confirms LvG has 100% lost the captain and the team. Time to burn!

Beaten by Norwich, Sunderland and Bournmouth. Haven't beaten Newcastle home or away. That's off the top of my head without really thinking about it too much.
It beggars belief how we are 5th tbh. The season is a write off, not a hope in either of the cups. It's clear LVG is going to be here until the end of the season which is ridiculous.

The money that has been wasted in this side is scandalous.

LVG: "You have to win this kind of game. We can only blame ourselves. We could not cope with Sunderland's aggression."

Ah right....it seems to make sense to me. If Hart of Mingolet conceded either of them goals then people would say they should of done better for both goals. Does that make sense? Or was your hilariously witty response some weird defence mechanism a load of United fans seem to get when someone dares criticise de Gea?

Either of those goals......

LVG: "Top 4 will be very difficult now. We have given five points away."

LVG: "I have told the players the top four will be very difficult. You cannot close your eyes to that."

There are rumours that Jose doesn't want to take over right now and wants to start afresh next year. That sounds more like him, he knows he probably won't save this season and will be tainted by the associated negativity.

There is no way Jose will only want to meet so many of his players after they come back from their post Euro 2016 breaks.

Jose tends to be meticulous on preparation. He will not be happy that some of his best players e.g. Martial will come back weeks after the rest, as France are likely to do well on home soil. Jose would probably much prefer to his this time with the players to get to know them, so he can hit the ground running next season without the Euros affecting his preparation too much.

There's no motivation to win. And it's like a plague spreading through this club because I am starting to feel indifferent about us losing these days too. We get a couple of half decent results then serve up a shite one over and over. Feels very midtable-ish.

I had this as a Sunderland win. Albeit 1-0. It was the lack of Fellaini that had me worried.

Of course I jest. But I suspect Van Gaal is thinking the same thing.

Pointless discussion isn't it?

Manager who gave up at Xmas. Chief Exec who can't be arsed to admit he got one wrong. Plenty of players who need shipped out (bet some can't believe their luck).

LvG: "Top 4 will be very difficult now. We have given five points away."

Not to mention the gift-wrapped points we gave Bournemouth, Norwich, and Southampton. Add that to Van Gaal's five and it's fourteen points we've pissed away. I'm sure others will think of further instances.

I had this as a 3 pointer, so quite shocking that United still lost.

You'll probably manage to come up with a defense of LVG and this game, and top that post.
I don't think it can be topped, of course there are views even more stupid, but people who hold them aren't able to operate a computer.

So it will better for my blood pressure if I don't watch this later? I'll just go and make my self a hot chocolate and have a cream egg to cheer myself up.:(

what did Rooney say?
Just his overall demeanour man.

He was asked about the game on Thursday and his response was its not a competition we wanted to be in but weve found ourselves in it and we want to win it.

Not good. I got the impression je was towing the party line that being honest want an option. Looked like he didnt want to be there.

the board with its two appointments has gutted the team.

I think they have realised he is a dead man walking and are just desperate for this all to end.

Other the last ten or so minutes of the 1st half, Sunderland outplayed us. They seemed quicker on the ball and wanted it more.

Really disapointed with the second half. The way the 1st half ended, I expected United to go on to win by a couple of goals.

Nothing to inspire thrm in LVG's half time team talk I guess.

Well, i guess this means bye-buy top four. But maybe it is all be since the team already has strong foundations upon which the next manager will build a title winning side...

On a more serious note, there's only one silver lining that i can think of: We are running out of excuses, the manager, the players, the board, everyone. If it wasn't for De Gea, we would be in for a real embarrassment today. It's quite clear that this team can't perform better under LvG.

Rooney's a non-entity up front, he might get a goal or two now and then but the opposition defense doesn't feel him at all. And that's a real problem for a team that wants to maintain possession in the final third and break down defenses with short passing.

Mata is also useless in the hole when we struggle to get the ball out of the defense with safety . He either drops deep to get the ball in areas where he can't offer anything creative or he stays up where he's not an option for a pass, due to his poor hold up play, and therefore we're forced to always pass the ball wide and become predictable.

If Schneiderlin is a b2b midfielder, then he's a poor one. It hurts me to say it but Fellaini was solely missed today. He and Martial are the only players who can get on the ball and not immediately lose it or pass it backwards. Keep in mind that this is a team that tries to play possession football...

It comes as no surprise that when Martial gets tired of battling against two or three defenders, around the 650-65th minute, we become completely hopeless in the attacking half of the pitch.

Carrick and Schneiderlin should not be playing together in our midfield, they are different players who like to cover the same spaces on the pitch. Smalling has still a lot of "black out" moments during his games and he still faces a lot of problems against forwards who play with their backs on goal.

Well, it doesn't look like he is coming in anytime soon. We will all have our life sucked out of us the rest of this season I fear. I really don't want to troll on LVG anymore. The anger should be directed to the board and Woodward. There's loyalty, patience and then there is sheer stupid obstinancy. LVG should have been relieved of his job a long time ago.

I hope we can pull something out the bag in the Europa League cause we sure as shit ain't getting in top 4.

We can't beat the likes of Sunderland, Noriwch, etc.
What logical reason is there to believe that we can win the EL?
We cannot win multiple games in a row and that is what is required to win a Cup competition.

If Van Gaal keeps his job after this than feck me but than United just deserves everything it is getting...

Didnt help when LvG sends him to the right either... Shocking decision
