Cristiano Ronaldo - Performances (wums will be thread banned)

Well taken goal.

His overall play still isn't what it used to be. He can't beat players off the dribble like he used to.

I thought he was utter garbage until the game opened up.

Failed to beat his player and lost the ball every single time Real countered.
Yep, when there is space and/or when the rest of the team is playing well he will flourish.

I remember him tracking back well for the team on 4 separate occasions.

Fair point.

I think it's a doing a massive disservice to Ronaldo though to proclaim that was one of the greatest performances seen from him in many years. Neutrals reading that would wonder what all the fuss was about. He was anonymous for 89 minutes of that match. Casemiro and Marcelo the standouts on the entire pitch.

Obviously finished. Scored the winner, should've had an assist for Bale, hit the crossbar. All those posters who have laughed at my desire to have him back at United are clearly right. Why would we want a guy like that? Scoring in major derbies and the like.

Of course you are right. A dream signing.

He was anonymous. You're basing that off of one instance where he tracked back on Alba.

In a game where two all time greats were playing they were both utter crap, I thought.

One made a telling contribution to the game, which is kind of important.

I'm sure the United/Madrid fans will be out in full force but apart from well taken goals, he and Benzema both were rather rubbish.

That's a rather simplistic way to look at it. They aren't mutually exclusive. You can have a telling contribution to the outcome of the game whilst still performing poorly.

Agreed, same type of performance Rooney's done in 80 percent of his games before january.

Edit: but with goals.

I never said they were, was just pointing out that though they both didn't play that well, Ronnie made the difference eventually, which obviously elevates his performance above his rivals. You can't lump them in the same bracket of performance today imo.

He's got 42 goals this season. Yet he's done?

His decline is going to be 25 goal a year seasons.

Obviously his numbers are great, he's got a team setup to make him score. We're rubbish at doing that at United so what's the point of having him back? And again, he was indeed rubbish (yes, like Rooney) despite his winner today.

"But he only does it against the small teams!"

"He's just a goal poacher!"

"But what does he do other than score goals?"

"42 goals? But he's rubbish 95% of the time, in decline, he's done!!!"

A football team, set up to make their best goal scorer score?!

What is this madness?

6 of Messi's came before Ronaldo joined for what it's worth.

Doesn't happen at United, does it? He'd be pretty pointless in our team of zero creativity.

Thats fecking stupid. Let's not get a great goal scorer as we don't don't create chances?! Here's an idea, let's get a goals scorer and someone to create.

So he scores with the chanches he gets, quite unlike Rooney then.

The guy is just a goal machine. I mean, whisper it, but the Spanish league is easier to get stupid numbers like 60 odd in a season. But, he still got 42 one year in England. He still has more goals than games for Madrid. I cannot believe the monster he is. Won't be appreciated till him and Messi go.

When I say he worked hard it means he was working hard in attack as well not just defence.

He kept threatening all game and was getting involved in the build up play and making attacks on his own and should have had an assist with Bale as well only for the goal to be ruled offside wrongly.

He normally doesn't get so involved when I have seen him play but he was taking players on all game and making things happen.

He needs to play another 32 games before he's played half as many games as Raul did. If he keeps his current goals to game ratio he'll have 66 more goals than Raul in total by the time he gets there.

The guy is incredible. How far back in history do we need to go before we find a player playing at the very highest level that delivered similar stats for his club to those of Ronaldo at Real? 355 goals in 338 games... I struggle to pull that off on FIFA.

I bet you don't struggle to pull yourself off over him. Especially the bulgy statue.

Its only seems to be easier because Ronaldo and Messi is playing over there. The numbers of goals they score in Europe (goals per game) is similar if not better.

I think he can break his own fantastic record (17 goals) in the CL this season. By the end of the calendar year he will be on 100 CL goals. In comparison, Zlatan is on 50 (?) and is about 4 years older than Ronaldo. And Ronaldo is going to play CL games for another 3-4 years at least. He will smash all records there.

First, I dont think we are getting him..
But the argument that he is a flat track bully is a weird one.. Its obviously not true.. and even that was the case, he would be the perfect signing for us.. If we had a flat track bully or two, we'd be top of the table... comfortably.

People seem to think he is awful then scores a lucky goal. When you do it 50 times a season there is a small chance he is very good and knows what he is doing, it isn't relevant if he can take his man on if he keeps kicking the ball in the goal, football is really simply and he is really really good at it.

Not even close and I'm not Ronaldo's fanboy.

Thought he was poor until the later stages. Tried to hog the ball too much. However, the goal was very well taken and eventually he was better than all of Barca's top 3.
