Mata comes in for unnecessary stick at times.
His output has still been important. 8 goals and 8 assist is lot higher than the majority of the squad.
He should be aiming for 12 goals and 15 assists though.
I'm not giving him stick, albeit I think measuring a player's performance solely on goals and assists doesn't give the full measure of how he's done. My point is more that I doubt, if he was being honest, that Mata would attempt to say he's been particularly good this season. He's been in and out of the side at times. Yet the club looked through the entire squad and still thought he was the sixth best performer they could come up with. IMO, his level of performances shouldn't be enough to even get into a good side, performing well and in this side he's being put forward as a candidate for POTY.

Football in Spain isn't as passionate as the one in England. And a lot of players and manager admit this. We have seen players from Barcelona move to real Madrid and also Real players moved to Barcelona. Barcelona had 2 good goal keeper and Real lost Cassilas. His girlfriend and family are living in Madrid. De Gea did well to act professional during transfer and I have a feeling he will stay this summer.
Probably well against the grain here but I don't think De Gea has been anything close to the shot-stopping form he was last season and the one before that. He's been very good, obviously, but he's been better protected by the defence and (I think) faced less shots than previously.

My thoughts exactly. De Gea has still been phenomenal but it'd be nice if we gave more recognition to our CBs. One of our biggest problems in the past was the constant chopping and changing of our central defence, so it's great that this season we finally got a more stable combination.
Still I don't think anything's stopping De Gea winning it again.
Maybe he's been given extra kudos for continually having to play out of position. How anyone in their right mind can see Mata as a natural in the right wing position... well, it's just ridiculous.

I know several passionate Spanish fans. Particularly Basques. And I once spoke to a diehard Barcelona fan who told me some interesting tales. Mainly about his experience at Madrid away. Put is this way, it wasn't a tea party.
Foreigners have moved between the two big clubs, but that is less common this century. Barcelona are much bigger player on the world stage since 2006. Ronaldinho and then the Pep era elevated the club to another level. You won't see a Figo incident happen again anytime soon.
De Gea is a local player, he is not a foreign import like Figo was. He didn't fall out with the manager like Laudrup did. He wasn't deemed surplus to requirements like Saviola was. It's a very different story. Agüero has been linked to Madrid over the years, but has never actually gone and done it. He's not even a local player, yet he's at least shown some respect in that regard. The excuses people make for De Gea don't fly with me.

You are judging player based on your opinion during summer transfer. I am judging Spanish football based on what Herrera and Louis van Gaal said. DDG was born in Madrid and he had never said that he was an Atl Madrid fans and if DDG cares of his family who lived in Madrid over moving to Barcelona then why is he a cnut?

You're basically looking for a way to defend De Gea because you have an attachment to the player. So because Rooney's family lives in Liverpool, that would make it okay for him to join Liverpool?
The only legitimate reason De Gea could have for leaving is because we don't match his ambitions. Joining the best team in the world is a good reason. It's what, an hour flight to Madrid from Barcelona.

I already said everything about De Gea's situation to answer your latest question. You are the one who didn't read my first post properly and answer my question from the first place. I judge Spanish football to be less passionate than English football based on my opinion by using what LVG and Herrera said as my reference and proof. And you are using a your own opinion, murder a child and Rooney who is from England as an example. We are talking about De Gea here not about Rooney. We are talking about a player who hasn't say that he is Atl Madrid fans here not a player who already said that he is a die hard Everton fans.

You are basing your opinion of an entire football population on the opinion of two people. Seems a bit weak to me. Why is De Gea allowed to do something like that, but not Rooney? Your logic is full of holes. He has played for that club from the age of 12 to 20. You usually become a fan of the club you play for. Carragher was an Everton fan growing up. By his late teens, that was long forgotten. It's a prick move.
If he cared about his family so much, then why did he leave the country at 20? I'm not saying it's the same thing. I'm saying I can judge a person by their actions. I can judge De Gea's decision to join Real Madrid as a negative character trait. You can't do the same thing with an entire football population based on a manager and one player who are obviously kissing up to the English media and general fans. He couldn't have chosen Barcelona, as they did not come in for him. Real Madrid did. But if he wanted a move for footballing reasons, his agent could have secured a move to any top club.
