Manchester United POTY awards 2015/2016

If you want a reminder of how far we've fallen, Juan Mata being one of the club's suggested candidates for POTY is fairly indicative of where we are. To describe his season as even being decent would be generous.

Mata comes in for unnecessary stick at times.

His output has still been important. 8 goals and 8 assist is lot higher than the majority of the squad.

He should be aiming for 12 goals and 15 assists though.

I'm not giving him stick, albeit I think measuring a player's performance solely on goals and assists doesn't give the full measure of how he's done. My point is more that I doubt, if he was being honest, that Mata would attempt to say he's been particularly good this season. He's been in and out of the side at times. Yet the club looked through the entire squad and still thought he was the sixth best performer they could come up with. IMO, his level of performances shouldn't be enough to even get into a good side, performing well and in this side he's being put forward as a candidate for POTY.

I went for Rashfords goal against west ham. We should have a manager of the season award- warren joyce.

It's the fact that he wanted to join the circus that is Real Madrid. He is an ex Atlético player and Academy export at that. I think it was a scummy move.

His bird was in his ear anyway. He could have gotten a move to Barcelona if he really wanted to. He's perfect for them.

Football in Spain isn't as passionate as the one in England. And a lot of players and manager admit this. We have seen players from Barcelona move to real Madrid and also Real players moved to Barcelona. Barcelona had 2 good goal keeper and Real lost Cassilas. His girlfriend and family are living in Madrid. De Gea did well to act professional during transfer and I have a feeling he will stay this summer.

Probably well against the grain here but I don't think De Gea has been anything close to the shot-stopping form he was last season and the one before that. He's been very good, obviously, but he's been better protected by the defence and (I think) faced less shots than previously.

I'd rather see the award go to any of Smalling, Blind or Martial. The two defenders have been fit all season, kept lots of clean sheets and improved considerably, somewhat against the odds.

Martial has been the main man in attack at the age of 20 and produced the goods time and time again. He's done all of this surrounded by poor attackers and in a team that struggles to score goals.

A change of scenery is always nice.

My lowest rated regular player. He's been awful.

My thoughts exactly. De Gea has still been phenomenal but it'd be nice if we gave more recognition to our CBs. One of our biggest problems in the past was the constant chopping and changing of our central defence, so it's great that this season we finally got a more stable combination.

Still I don't think anything's stopping De Gea winning it again.

Maybe he's been given extra kudos for continually having to play out of position. How anyone in their right mind can see Mata as a natural in the right wing position... well, it's just ridiculous.

He's played on the right before his time at Chelsea hasn't he?

I don't think you're in a position to make such a claim, unless you're Spanish and go to games around Spain.

I know several passionate Spanish fans. Particularly Basques. And I once spoke to a diehard Barcelona fan who told me some interesting tales. Mainly about his experience at Madrid away. Put is this way, it wasn't a tea party.

Foreigners have moved between the two big clubs, but that is less common this century. Barcelona are much bigger player on the world stage since 2006. Ronaldinho and then the Pep era elevated the club to another level. You won't see a Figo incident happen again anytime soon.

De Gea is a local player, he is not a foreign import like Figo was. He didn't fall out with the manager like Laudrup did. He wasn't deemed surplus to requirements like Saviola was. It's a very different story. Agüero has been linked to Madrid over the years, but has never actually gone and done it. He's not even a local player, yet he's at least shown some respect in that regard. The excuses people make for De Gea don't fly with me.

You're entitled to your opinion, as am I. I think he's a talented cnut. Nothing more, nothing less.

Well if you say so then I also don't think you are in a position to make such a claim that De Gea is a cnut unless if you know him personally.

You are judging player based on your opinion during summer transfer. I am judging Spanish football based on what Herrera and Louis van Gaal said. DDG was born in Madrid and he had never said that he was an Atl Madrid fans and if DDG cares of his family who lived in Madrid over moving to Barcelona then why is he a cnut?

So if a person murders a child and I've never met him, I can't call him a cnut based on his behaviour?

You're basically looking for a way to defend De Gea because you have an attachment to the player. So because Rooney's family lives in Liverpool, that would make it okay for him to join Liverpool?

The only legitimate reason De Gea could have for leaving is because we don't match his ambitions. Joining the best team in the world is a good reason. It's what, an hour flight to Madrid from Barcelona.

Did De Gea murder a child? How ridiculous you are using murder a child as an example of De Gea scenario.

No, he did not. But you didn't answer the question, which tells me everything I need to know.

De Gea is a nice guy though, whatever floats your boat. Still a cnut.

Maybe for a club like ours, having a season like this, we shouldn't even be having a POTY party - just can the whole thing, they don't deserve it.

No, he did not. But you didn't answer the question, which tells me everything I need to know.

You didn't even answer my question.
I already said everything about De Gea's situation to answer your latest question. You are the one who didn't read my first post properly and answer my question from the first place. I judge Spanish football to be less passionate than English football based on my opinion by using what LVG and Herrera said as my reference and proof. And you are using a your own opinion, murder a child and Rooney who is from England as an example. We are talking about De Gea here not about Rooney. We are talking about a player who hasn't say that he is Atl Madrid fans here not a player who already said that he is a die hard Everton fans.

And back again to my question: if DDG cares of his family who lived in Madrid over moving to Barcelona then why is he a cnut? You are just being ridiculous with the fact how you think murder a kid is the same level of De Gea who cares about his family over football club and their fans. He could have choose Barcelona and yet he chose Madrid because his family lived in there and he was being professional to us all the time during transfer windows all the time.

I answered your question. Read it again. No was the answer.

You are basing your opinion of an entire football population on the opinion of two people. Seems a bit weak to me. Why is De Gea allowed to do something like that, but not Rooney? Your logic is full of holes. He has played for that club from the age of 12 to 20. You usually become a fan of the club you play for. Carragher was an Everton fan growing up. By his late teens, that was long forgotten. It's a prick move.

If he cared about his family so much, then why did he leave the country at 20? I'm not saying it's the same thing. I'm saying I can judge a person by their actions. I can judge De Gea's decision to join Real Madrid as a negative character trait. You can't do the same thing with an entire football population based on a manager and one player who are obviously kissing up to the English media and general fans. He couldn't have chosen Barcelona, as they did not come in for him. Real Madrid did. But if he wanted a move for footballing reasons, his agent could have secured a move to any top club.

He was influenced by his girlfriend anyway. Had he not been with her, this wouldn't have even come up. Such is life.

You can try as much as you like, but I will maintain by stance that De Gea is a talented cnut.

What answers? Your answers is Murder a child which has nothing to do with De Gea scenario. Your answer of Rooney being an Everton fans who born in Liverpool has different situation with De Gea who never say he is Atl Madrid fans. And you can't call someone cnut based on him choosing to leave us for Madrid due to a trophy less. He could have choose Barcelona for more trophy and success but he picks Madrid due to his family. Why can't a non Atl Madrid fans choose Real Madrid?

You are still comparing English player with Spanish player mate.
How many times do I need to say this Spanish football isn't as passionate as English football. You think they are equal based on one person that you talked with but he might be passionate but what about others. Herrera and LVG said Spanish football isn't as passionate as English football and this is based on their experience of playing and managing teams in Spain.

You told me that I can try as much as I like but you told me that I have no position to judge Spanish football. What about you? Why do you have position to judge a player as a cnut who never said that he is an Atl Madrid fans?

You sort of speak in riddles. I don't really understand your post, to be honest. My last post summarised everything there is to say.

I can judge one person based on his actions. It's not the same as judging hundreds of thousands Spanish football fans. That should be pretty obvious. I've witnessed the De Gea situation unfold. You haven't witnessed any of these fans you judge based on only two people.

I think De Gea is a cnut. Pretty simple.

  • Why is he a cnut when he's not even Atl Madrid fans? Can't he choose Madrid?
  • Why is he a cnut when he choose his family over football club and fans?
  • Why is he a cnut when he didn't murder a child?
  • Why is he a cnut when he's Spanish who never say he's Atl Madrid and not English like Rooney who is a die hard of Everton fans?
  • Why is he a cnut when he is Spanish and prefer Madrid over us for trophy and success?
I make it easier for you to read and at the same time if you can answer them then it will be much easier for me to understand why are you calling him a cnut because so far in my point of view from our discussion you call him cnut based on your ridiculous opinion.

And another question is Why can't I have the right position to judge something but you can?

So when is this thing ? Wonder what Louis will say this time... :p

Don't know what's more embarrassing....

De Gea winning it again, or someone else winning it.

This is the stage the "great" Manchester United are at. Absolutely fuming after that shitfest today

Started on MUTV moments ago. Get your popcorn ready folks.

Also Marcus Rashford who has barely played.

Who is the presenter? She is fit.

Hannah East, I think she does countdown to kickoff. I have now turned back to my Italian football as I am not sure I could stand it if Dion Dublin is going to explain how his instrument works all night.

Depay when someone else wins POTY

I just hope LVG has 3 bottles of Vino tonight cause that was the only highlight of this thing last year

Wayne voted for Blind that cnut.
