Flacco of the Blaggs tribe
I thought we'd done some great business when we signed him. He's a bit toilet though at the moment.
Have barely seen him play this hear but I'm happy to give him a second season to settle. We've seen plenty of cases where someone like him comes good after a bad first year.
Yeah but, normally you see a glimpse/flash of what they can do.
People go on about Ronaldo vs Bolton but, Ronaldo against Arsenal, that year, when Ruud missed a penalty, was a far better insight into him as a player. 18 years of age, didn't hide from the fight, didn't get discouraged when flicks and cross didn't come off...He still pushed and pushed to be the top man and difference maker that day.....He was even the first United player into defend Ruud. Ahead of Keane!! Even other younger players showed something worth sticking with. Chris Eagles showed more than Depay
The only thing I can say about Depay this season is that, unless we're playing a Sunday league side, or a team completely fecked over with injuries to their first 11, he is of no use!
Ronaldo was frustrating but he worked incredibly hard in training and that what made fergie stick with him, if someone has talent and works obsessively to improve you know he'll eventually get there.
My worry with memphis is that maybe van gaal isn't seeing that in him, otherwise he'd never sell him after just one year.

Could not believe what I was witnessing. Great attitude from a player fans have to be patient with.Used to think Fellaini was a sign of our decline....
I take it back, Depay is! At least Fellaini actually does something now and again. This sack of crap actually pulled out of a goalscoring chance today. He was getting there before Schmeichel but, he slowed down when he saw him racing out. He shat himself.
You are talking about the general tactic there. Those players you mentioned get on with their jobs despite whatever positions they are asked to play and it worked.
Every manager gambles with a few things here and there in certain matches. It is not an example of anything new.
Should I remind you about how Fergie used to play his players out of positions? He was a master of it.
That caption was hilarious wasn't it, what a joke. I could understand if he'd leathered it into the top corner. Although I can't blame him for not putting something like "Just me before I did a shite free kick into the wall lol"The tweet of him smashing a free kick into the wall with "Fire and desire" underneath sums him up. To eulogise about yourself whilst doing something badly suggests there's something not quite right.

What the feck are you talking about mate worked how?
How did Mata on the right wing work? How did Fellaini in central midfield work? How did Young at RB or striker work?
We have been shit in general this year and a big part of that has been players continually playing out of their natural positions, every game we have several players out of position.
Yesterday Rooney, Blind, Valencia, Rojo and arguably Martial and/or Lingard were not in their natural positions.
Van Gaal is doing it every match not just here and there.
A lot of the the time when Fergie did it it paid off and we still won league titles and cups. Sure he had his experiments. But we never went a whole fecking season consistently playing 2-3-4-5 players out of position every fecking match.
Does Fellaini play as good as he should despite you think he is playing out of position? Of course he does. Tell me what midfielder outperform him by far if any this season from our squad? There you go.
Is Blind part of being 2nd best defense in the league even with FBs changing every other week?
Mata has the most contribution for all the goals we scored for past 2 seasons or 2nd most.
Martial has been the best player in the squad.
Where is Rojo best position in your eyes? And how do you know? I bet you only saw him play for Argentina mostly before he came to us and guess what? He played as LB there.
Valencia started playing as RB even in SAF's era....now has been proven that he is the best RB we have. Even more reliable than the italian first choice RB in epl.
So, your point is players being shit, not out of positions now? I mean I am confused? All of them every single one, Carrick, Schneiderlin, Herrera, and Schweinsteiger are all better than Fellaini in a midfield 2. To argue otherwise is nonsense. Playing in there after Xmas he was atrocious. He's only performed better recently because he's moved further forward into his actual position
Still not a centre back, won't play there under another manager which should tell you all you need to know.
Not from fecking right wing he hasn't though.
Yes he has, but he's still a striker ergo not a winger. Ergo playing out of position.
Not fecking LB because he's shit there. He's a CB thats where he played his football in portugal for Sporting. That's where he says his best position is and where he want's to play long term.
A grand total of about 5 fecking games, so what. He's a failed winger and an average RB. Being our best right back isn't fecking hard when Darmian is your competition.
What are we even discussing here mate? This is the Depay thread. If you want to discuss Memphis fine, but let's not drag the thread any further off topic than is already is shall we?
So, your point is players being shit, not out of positions now? I mean I am confused?
Talking about players being played 'out of position', you want Depay to play on the right which is 'out' of his position? no?
I was simply saying that you saying current coaching staff does not know shit is not true.No my point is most of the players mentioned are playing shit because they are/were being played out of position
You seem confused alright mate.
Depay is a winger, playing on the right wing is not really playing out of position for a fecking winger and it's hardly comparable to Blind playing at CB or fecking Valencia playing at RB.
You were the one who said the current coaching staff not selecting him to play RW vindicated your opinion that he shouldn't get some games there. I simply pointed out that the current coaching staff don't know their arse from their fecking elbow when it comes to where players should be played to get the best out of them. Evidenced by the fact very few of our current squad are having good seasons, especially the majority of the players who are regularly fielded out of their natural positions.
That is how we got to this point in this discussion in a nutshell.
I was simply saying that you saying current coaching staff does not know shit is not true.
I just gave you reasons why those players playing 'out' of positions are not playing badly. You responded me with a bunch of they are shit mostly and another manager won't play them there etc because they are playing 'out of position' for you?
LVG tried a lot of players 'out of position' but not so much with depay. Tells you a lot about the player when the manager you think like to play a lot of players out of position.
Oh, I don't hate depay. I am giving him another reason. I am hoping he would be a success long term because I want a player to do well for a club I love to follow.
I think the team being shit is mainly more due to LVG's overall tactic and mentality than how players are playing in the system/positions. But, I have said this everywhere already. So, let's leave it here for now.But bar Martial the players playing out of position are all playing badly. Or at least they are not good enough or suited for the position they are playing in like Blind.
Mata at RW, Rojo at LB, Young at RB, Fellaini in a CM 2 etc. have all been shit this season.
Also the current coaching staff are performing very very poorly you do realize this yes?
Them not playing Depay at RW i suspect has nothing to do with LVG thinking he can't play there and everything to do with the fact that he in my opinion has no faith in the lad. Simple as that really.
Looks like he has cleaned up his twitter and instagram account. I don't wont to read into anything but I wonder what is going on?
Joining Radiohead.

It is not just me who think that depay has been disappointing either in the middle or on the left bar a few games against shit teams.
If you think he should be tried on right side, fair enough. I just don't think he has some necessary mental attributes to play anywhere in the team atm. But, we have argued about it already. I will agree to disagree.
I don't think he was known for amazing pace, more his dribbling and shooting. Quick enough and skilful enough to beat players very often though. I think he has really struggled with defenders being much better at reading him and stopping him from playing his game, if you go back and watch him play for PSV he goes past players really easily all the time. I want to see more of that, I definitely think he still has it in himWas he known for his pace at PSV? He doesn't look to be that quick which I think a United winger needs to be.
Was he known for his pace at PSV? He doesn't look to be that quick which I think a United winger needs to be.
What was he renowned for? His tattoos? No, I remember reading on here at the time when we signed him that he wasn't renowned for his pace.

Shooting, goals, free kicks and became topscorer. What was he renowned for? His tattoos?

His problem has been that because until we ended up with Rashford/Martial, we had a very static front line, so teams could easily double up on Memphis. It is no coincidence his best performances have come recently with the pacy front line alongside him.

Well they've all gone missing somewhere.Goalscoring, strength, passing IMO, crossing, technique and dribbling.
