Chelsea under Conte | Let's sign the next Hazard, literally.

What a collection of managers on dispaly in the PL next season. Can't wait for the next season.

Tactically he's been outstanding in this tournament with a poor Italian side. Though Van Gaal was the same at the World Cup with Holland. Hopefully it goes the same way for Conte.
Van Gaal wasn't the same though. The same in the sense that they both performed well enough and had high expectations coming into a new league. But Conte's Italy team looks tactically much better than Van Gaals Holland team did.

Tell you something, I don't think the Premier League has ever been as stacked for World Class managers then it will be this coming season. City, Utd, Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal all with fantastic managers. If the players don't entertain on the pitch, the managers off it certainly will.

He seems tactically competent. Very defensive though. Even in the group games he rarely let the creative and speedy players like El Shaarawy or Insigne get much of a look in at all.

Question is. What will he do with Hazard, Willian, Oscar etc. if he's going to continue playing his 3-5-2? They don't really fit in to that

People should not get carried away.
Van Gaal looked like a tactical be iat the last World Cup.
The truth is that International tournament football is very different from the bread and butter stuff.
That said I think he's a great coach and Chelsea will be strong next season.
Top 4 will be,
Man City, Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea in no particular order.

Courtois
Cahill Terry New CB
Matic
Azpilaqueta Box to Box Fabregas New LWB
Hazard
Costa
Cahill is way too poor on the ball and Terry is no Barzagli; far too slow and struggled already in a back four this season gone.

Meh, another manager that will get a rude awakening in the PL.

Um, you do realize he won 3 Serie A titles with Juventus?

Well having his Juventus players helps him, but he seems to be a great manager, reminds me a bit of Simeone. Serie A has always been the best league tactically at least as far as defending goes, but in those years Simeone and Conte played there it was the best league anyway and extremely strong. No wonder they made it to top managers.

Chill everyone. LVG was a tactical mastermind also at WC 2014. How did it work out for him in the PL?

Not taking anything away from Conte, I think he's a great coach. But let's not get carried away as the PL is a very different competition. Mourinho will have a huge advantage on both Conte and Pep since he's familiar with the PL.

the similarities with him and and LVG are quite close

1) both did /doing well with a fairly ordinary National team going deap into the tournament with similar style of play.
2) both will start late with their new club side do to international tournament
3) both seem to do much better against sides that dont sit back

Conte will be hard to beat in the big matches, just like LVG was, I just hope he is Like LVG where the smaller teams sit back and deliver some 0-1 results .

It's nice to see his side playing so effectively out from the back. So many times we needlessly lose the ball when one of our defenders pointlessly punts the ball forwards under pressure.

PL is a different ball game altogether and cant read too much about tournament performances, granted he is doing well and has been a decent Manager at Juve

Am I the only one that thinks Conte at Italy is different than LVG at the World Cup?

There are similarities, obviously, but I think this Italy team looks a whole lot better tactically, both defensively organized and offensively going forward, than the Holland team did which relied heavily on an amazing Robben (who many thought was the best player at the WC).

I don't think Conte's success (so far) with Italy is a guarantee of anything next season with Chelsea, but I don't think you can write it off as "LVG did the same with holland and sucked with United."

Decent is an understatement

Same.

Holland were awful to watch in the WC bar their thrashing vs Spain. They relied on Robben heavily.

Italy are different. They're cohesive in attack and defense. And they create lots of chances. Conte's done a great job.

Let's wait and see how they play Germany. Today was impressive, but that was a tired and unmotivated Spanish side, who just lost to Croatia. Germany will be the real test.

Chalk and oranges.

Besides Robben, Italy have 10 better players.

So it does help. It helps having some of the best defenders in the game currently.

Looks good, I'm impressed.

Surely Cesc is gone with him though?

Not 10 better players. That's an exaggeration.
Giaccherini, Pelle, Eder, Bernardeschi, Insigne have all had many minutes and are terrible to average players. They do have a good defense though.

It's not really, he was poor in Europe and that's the main place to judge a Juve manager as they're by far the strongest in the Italian league.
They were by far the strongest in the league because of Conte. They didn't win the league until he joined.

So, how would you rank top managers in the league. Pretty tough I think. Anyway, mine should go as follows.

1) Mou( no bias involved).
2) Pep
3) Klopp
4) Conte
5) Pouch
6) faaaaark you hart

And who did Holland have?

Van Gaal had a load of average defenders, so was forced to play 5 at the back. Van Persie was worse than what Pelle has shown this tournament. Hunterlaar, De Jong and Sneijder were all past it.

They decimated the league in a way even Mourinho at Inter with more resources couldn't do.

The fact Inter were challenging on three fronts could've played a part in that though. Juventus had no European football the year they went unbeaten.

How about the year they got 102 points? Or when they went 42 games unbeaten in all competitions? His work there was ridiculous.

Also a reminder that Ferguson struggled with Europe to begin with at United.
