Chelsea under Conte | Let's sign the next Hazard, literally.

I'm not sure exactly, Conte just seems a lot more unlikeable for some reason. Perhaps it's because Simeone's antics at Atletico seem to have a bit more of a purpose.
Or maybe because he is joining Chelsea?

Why are Chelsea fans so defensive on here? A person says he doesn't rate a player and you all get bitter over it.

What about his game didn't impress you?
His touch and finishing, seen nothing that made me thing he could cut it in a decent league. French league is awful, couldn't be further from the premier league, scoring goals there guarenteed nothing.

Well you saying his hair and then someone questioning he followed Marseille that often.

Are you often this touchy?
I was joking. Implying I have never seen him play before which I have not. I dunno if he is good or not. The other post was defensive. So that's 1 Chelsea fan who is being touchy about it and 1 who is being the opposite.

I'm not Touchy, you were just wrong.

I honestly just wanted to know more about the player, haven't had access to french football in some time so I genuinely don't know what he's about.
Fair enough.

Like I said before, I haven't seen him play so can't comment beyond his hair being shit. Although I agree with @Spiersey about scoring in the French league not meaning shit. Its garbage.

I've said this before but Fabregas would get manhandled in that midfield. We just don't have the players for a 3-5-2. I pray Conte doesn't persist with 3 at the back.

You are prob right, would be better if you had Naingolan in there but isnt going to happen.

We still have one of the most expensive squads in the league in terms of wages. I can't really see us adding someone like Naingolan without someone like Matic leaving. (I don't know how much wages we have saved by letting Pato and Falcao go.) I would prefer Matic in normal form anyway, if he is able to restore it. With one striker and one CB (Koulibaly) we have addressed two of the most imminent problems. I would be happy if we start the season with that. (I am obviously hoping that Courtois and Hazard will improve significantly compared to last season.) Having said that our priority needs to be going for a CL spot. We should not consider ourselves any kind of favourites for the title.
I do not know whether Conte will be able to steer us through that because the competition will be tough and my gut tells me that Leicester will make top 4 again (if they manage to keep Kante, Vardy and Mahrez). So it's City, United, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool and Chelsea fighting for the CL. Since I can not see City not winning the league, it means that United, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool and Chelsea are fighting for the remaining two CL places. It will be interesting to see how Conte deals with the kind of adversity he has never faced before. But we also have to assume that with Hazard and other key players in top form his task will be a lot easier.

If we go into the season with a central midfield of - Cesc, RLC, Matic and Mikel. We will end up in the bottom half of the table by year end and Conte will be fired by January.

This is going to be interesting. What formation Conte is going to play? 3 in the back or 4 in the back? Do you mind if anyone especially Chelsea fans reply this post and hit me with all your realistic starting eleven?

If he is strict to his 3 CB formation then we absolutely should try for Azpilicueta.

Probably unrealistic but

Azpi - Koulibaly - Zouma - Baba
Kante
Fabregas - (new midfielder)
Griezmann - Costa - Hazard

Replace Griezmann with Candreva, Kante with Matic and new midfielder with Kante and you have what may be our first team going into this season.

Is it really 2-0

It's irrelevant how long he's had with the Chelsea players that team/subs should easily beat rapid Vienna.

Poor effort by Chelsea players

Conte is pretty much fresh out of the airplane from Italy while the austrian Bundesliga starts next week. Pointless result, but I'm still happy.

I think good pre-season means nothing, but a bad pre-season generally leads to a rough ride in the upcoming season

Today was not that bad. A good work out with half the team missing against a side who has played 6 pre-season games and start their season proper next week.

I'm not blaming Conte for one second but the players need to be questioned you've got enough experience and talent in that squad to be winning that game.

Just reading Twitter it seems a lot of Chelsea fans are mad particularly at Ivanovic and Mikel

Is Loftus-Cheek a striker? Is Remy not available?
Remy is shit. As shown when he came on and didn't touch the ball.

Aina looked good played out of position. Ivanovic being Ivanovic again, messed up for their goal. Papy looked decent and so did Chalobah when he came on.

Moses was our best player, again in pre-season.

Not too fussed about this result. Lets Conte weed out the scum.

You underestimate the importance of pre-season training. It was clear as day that the chelsea players where nowhere near their physical peak yet. And while the austrian league is quite shit Rapid is not some 3rd league team from Azerbaijan (or Gibraltar).
