Who is going to be the Next Prime Minister of the UK? | Be your stubborn best

Can't remember anyone ever labelling any politician a genius for years on end tbh.

Please, having won a majority the future was laid out, Cameron to Osborne, Boris next in line. Osborne in particular was praised for the traps he laid in his budgets, all those abstentions from the Labour side weren't for nothing

More than any other I believe the pledge to bring migration levels down to the tens of thousands cost them everything, a number plucked from the air which he couldn't defend during the referendum. They kept feeding the racists inuendo and it cost them everything. Wonderful day

Does she know this isn't funny? He'll be a major part of securing our trade deal with The EU as well as trade deals with many other countries?

Wow, Boris foreign secretary. The face of the U.K.
just can't wrap my head around this one........ what possible logic is their to getting a man hated by alot of Europe for spear heading Brexit to be head of foreign affairs?

anyone have any kind of answer? cos thats just bizzare!

All part of the plan, maybe... Have Boris fall on his Brexit sword.

Foreign Secretary?

Seriously now, feck off. I'm really starting to hate this country.

He's not the face this country needs, but he's the one 52% of it fecking deserve right now.

It's been pointed out that he may not actually end up with much to do, most of the negotiations will likely be headed up by the new Brexit department, which Davis has been appointed to head.

Though he will still be in charge of MI6...

It's still a very eminent position, it doesn't seem like May owes him anything in terms of his support so there must be another reason for this... Unless May genuinely thinks he's the best for the job.

Politics init.

Rather have him in (even is he's incompetent) than out - what was Boris' description of his reporting from Brussels? -chucking stones at you and waiting to here the crash.

Keeps him away from scheming on the backbenches, I suppose. Also she's basically placed the EU deal in the hands of three prominent Leavers, she if it goes wrong she can blame them.

Surprised by the lack of Grayling so far, one of her biggest supporters and another Leaver. Bringing back Deputy PM maybe?

With such a small majority i suppose she needs those leavers on board.

She placed Boris as responsible for trade deals and his supporter as Brexit Minister. If they hit the rocks then they can't complain about her doing a bad job

Towed the line is all she did. She made her feelings clear on the subject in the early 2000s. She is an odious character.

All you can say is she voted for it. Enough of her colleagues didn't, including Cabinet members, that the Conservative's voted as a whole against it.

This and she's older and her father was a vicar. Maybe people can change their mind?

Boris Johnson gets the Foreign Office, though most of its real work has been handed to Davis and Fox, so hes got a flashy title and no substance, perfect

Talk is cheap but maybe, just maybe the referendum result (sickening as it was to me personally) has jolted her into realising that government can't continue to ignore the huge fissures in society that have been building up over many years. If she can occupy the centre, she'll be set for many years since, as with Blair post-97, there is no viable alternative.
There's no opposition as you say. But the huge fissures in society you mention will be a big challenge, whether she occupies the centre or ends up being pulled to the right.

Like he did as Mayor. Most overrated MP in government.

And let's just hope there are no major international incidents that require his attention.

Davis as Bob the Brexit might not be the worst thing in the world actually.
