Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

My general opinion towards football has changed massively in the last 5/10 years.

I used to be fiercely passionate about the way we ran the club and developed players, peppering the team with the occasional star to ensure success.

Now, with all the oil money, sugar daddies and Russian playthings, I feel so disconnected from the game I used to know that I couldn't really care less how we go about making the side good again.

It might place me int a category of supporter I used to despise but, feck it, I just want to enjoy watching football. If that means spunking stupid money on kids with horrendous fashion taste, just to get that X factor back, then so be it. This season will be entertaining, one way or another.
I get where you are coming from and to an extent share your sentiments but I think that in order for the young players to really flourish we need to be putting them in a well functioning team so that they see first hand the quality expected of them and that they have real pros to learn from. At the end of the season we were lacking in real quality and mental strength so changes had to be made. Then you consider how difficult it has now become to attract genuine world class talent and how much is being demanded for less established players like Martial and Sanches you reach the conclusion that its better to have a talent like Pogba in the team than spend £100m on average players and fill out the squad with poor youth team graduates.
Pogba is already playing at a comparatively higher level than Sanches and Martial so he will add more to the team's immediate ambitions.

Can someone please sum up what Pilib says in that Periscope about Pogba?

It says 'Replay Unavailable' for me.

Don't worry - I've just watched it.

Very interesting. Not sure how trustworthy Pilib is but he seems very sincere. Obviously passionate about Utd and he seems to think Pogba will be done in 7-10 days.

Exciting!

Apart from the guy who "backs up his credentials" by saying he meets with Woodward.

What's that got to do with where this information is from? He's merely saying why the guy is considered generally trustworthy. He's not some bloke that works in KFC.

I think that was just to show that he isn't a nobody. He does know people in the club, people that are definitely in the know. I guess he is a better Craig Norwood who seem to be a photographer of some sort yet is privy to stuff like medical done and all

By the end I'm convinced Van Gaal was winding everyone up with how often he'd play people in the wrong position. It was that bizarre.

Ashley Young up front for feck sake.
Why do people find the idea of 'preparing a bid' so hilarious?

You guys do realise there's more to these things than "we'll give you £100m for Pogba, please use the yes/no voting options attached to this email to reply" right?

There will be several different clauses involved that increase the offer based on various scenarios, the staging of the payments to be determined and other such stuff.

This is a legal process for the potential sale of a £100m asset. Of course work goes into it.

Wait your telling me that Woodward doesn't walk around with £100 Million in cash, stuffed inside a briefcase , ready at a moment's notice to slam onto the selling clubs negotiation table??

Woodward out!

Pogba is 100x more naturally talented than Bebe Carroll etc etc.

I really do think the majority of people that "dont want him" are fans that haven't watched him since he left, or remain bitter than he left and we have to buy him back.

He's a fantastic player, skilful on the ball, works his socks off and can shoot and pass like the best of them, what more do you want?

They're the ones you see screaming what a bargain N'golo Kante is.

Rado_N is right. Even if you have agreed to do a deal, it is a lot of business to be sorted and legal matters as well.

That said, I guess some find it hilarious because of the media going with the prepare bid every other day.

I'm pretty sure you just right click on Pogba, "Make Bid", hammer the + button till it says 100 then hit submit.

Wasn't there a pic circulating of Woodward breifing the press while United were on tour a few years ago?
Neil Custis was front and centre.yet he is treated like a joke on here. Interviewing Woodward a few times means next to nothing.

Personally, i think this Pilib guy is full of shit transfer wise. Sure he is connected to some degree, but i would be surprised if he knew our transfer details. Hit and miss like all guys on Twitter. Calling the Pogba transfer and Schweini out one isnt Nostradamus stuff at this point.

Sure, he's not worth that amount to any other club, but with our marketing men, sponsorship deals and the 'homecoming' angle, it's obviously been decided that he's worth it to ours. And he might be. We're paying what it costs, no one else is prepared to, no other club currently out of the Champions League could pull it off if they wanted to.

IMHO his true value is no more than £70m, but hey the club has wasted far more money in recent years than the extra it's prepared to pay for him.
Very much this.

Exactly, I think people see the astronomical figures with football transfers and just can't feel comfortable with it. At the end of the day 100 million is huge crazy money, but it's all within the football bubble. It doesn't effect us, won't change ticket prices etc so why do we have to worry?
What you and @acrebo need to keep in mind is that no matter how astronomical and crazy you and indeed I think 100m is for a single player, it's nothing compared to how astronomically our commercial income has increased over the years. Inflation of our income is way more than transfer fee inflation. Woody and co are doing the real maths on this and thinking it's a bargain, crazy as that sounds.

Pleb knows nothing more than the average journo. United don't spill out transfer into to anyone anymore, unless it's a specific media briefing. In which case multiple journos are fed the same info

To be fair Mourinho did brief a few journalists, we all knew about Mikhitaryan happening and Ibra ages before it became official. News of Pogba from the same sources are to be believed. Bailly was the only real surprise.

I can't beleive we will get pogba,
Imagine if we pull it off though, Liverpool fans will be sooooo Jelly and we will be like Ner Ner na Ner Ner!!!!!!:wenger:
Think I'm having a breakdown !!

Stuff like this always comes across as bollocks. If Woodward was giving him information and he was posting it on Twitter for the world to see then Woodward would never tell him a thing again.

Thats because it is bollocks. He's just regurgitating any half assed rumour thats flying about right now. Even the Rooney leak conspiracy one. His source is probably Redcafe ffs.

The best we can hope for is a bit of both - a few homegrown stars alongside expensive purchases.

Yes the new ownerships have really been game changers and i think we were a bit behind the curve on that due SAF's brilliance.
I think now we just have to find the right balance between spending big and bringing players through. We are playing catch up right now but hopefully transfers like this one if it goes through will gets us there, then we we can be more prudent with transfers. Mourinho hasn't on the past spent big on individual players in the past but there aren't many players like Pogba around either.

Yeah, I'd agree with this. I'd love to see top players coming through the ranks again but, and it sounds dreadful, but I can't really be bothered to wait! Like is said above, we need that immediate injection of proper quality to give the whole club a kick up the arse. Hopefully the like of Jose, Ibra and Pogba can do that.

I really, really hope at least 1-2 of the likes of Lingard, Rashford and Adnan kick on and fulfil their potential.

I'd absolutely agree with this also. As misguided as our football decisions have been, there is no doubt in my mind that the moneymen will have done the maths and know that £100m will be money well spent.

The point I was making is that, as long as it doesn't endanger the future of the club, I've given up caring what money we spend and where. This idea that people would rather sign inferior players for a fraction of the price, just because it's "better value", utterly bemuses me.

Not saying he is a transfer ITK, but I do recall vaguely that this Pilib guy called SAF's retirement on twitter, almost a week before it was announced by the club. I don't think people took him seriously back then.

If he is still in LA then he is getting into the passengers side so prob not his car

Yea, English sign in the background and no front plate on the other car. California isn't a bad guess.

Why would he have a RHD car anyway?

Allegri stating he expects him back in training and hopes he doesn't leave. Well yeah that's exactly what he will say isn't it.

Interesting. No "I expect" or "He will stay". So even they are hedging their bets.

Makes me wonder if that L'Equipe reporter was on to something or pogba said something during their interview that allowed L'Equipe to publish the "completing the circle" story.

Lets talk Pogba. The tragedy of my life is not that my girlfriend won't let me do butt stuff until I marry her, it's not that she doesn't like BJs like my ex did, no, it's that I live in Japan so I can't go watch United live.
But I watch on tv every weekend, even when LVG gave us philosophy. So I only watched Pogba on those few occasions that Alex gave him and Morrison a look in.
He wasn't great.

Is this because he was young, or is it a Depay or Damian thing, where he is a world beater in one league but shit in another ? What do you who watched him live think?

@Damien might not be happy about haxball discussions here.

I haven't seen him enough to give you a proper answer, but the natural answer would be that he developed.
