The article of AS

"In recent talks between Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, and Real Madrid, which took place last week, the white club interlocutor requested more time to value how they can do the operation. The figures being considered for the transfer, 120 million euros, are not assumable now for the white entity. To approach should make a big sale, and the lack of definition of the project can not develop a short-term strategy. United are very close to closing the transaction, has almost done, but the player has no hurry to sign. His dream is still to be under the command of Zidane. A dish that taste much better for him that a return to United, who didn´t know how to appreciate him for years, although the seductive Mou has already saved this pitfall.

Raiola's statements a few days ago, in which he said that "Pogba is happy at Juve, in no hurry to leave. He might even renew occurred after Madrid asked for more time. He is trying to cool the atmosphere. Interested in extending the saga to get bigger slice (ask for 20 million commission). Vecchia Signora sources have confirmed to AS that the renewal of the player has not been raised. "If he stays we are happy, but we are making up the squad thinking that he is leaving". Mino Raiola is who is taking the issue personally. Juve has told him that the price is from 100 to 120 million (the price is lower if paid in cash) and, when present in the offices of Vinovo, will be assessed. Madrid need time ... United presses. No more galacticos in the market."

In the second part of the article they write about Madrid debt, 620m€ and for which they have to sell before buying. In my opinion AS is not a Madrid mouthpiece although is a pro-Madrid newspaper, without hesitation, not like Marca that is more "global". Florentino sued Relaño (As director) for an article about the debt.
The last year they were the first writing about the talks of Ramos agent and United.
Personally I think there is nothing unless Pogba speak publicly . I just read the print edition of Marca and they assume that Gomes will sign for Madrid.
I think Real are trying to offload a couple of players to get back in this one. Problem for them is they need to maximise the sales in order to raise the cash. Not sure they'll get what their expecting for a couple of their players... unless they are willing to let go of one of their stars.

Id fully accept United getting Kroos if they get Pogba. Every day of the week.

I expect United to buy a few Madrid cast offs to fund this deal. We have to stop kidding ourselves, he's clearly waiting for Madrid or he'd be our player now.

I think they will try to offload James to try and compete. Problem is not many clubs are willing or able to pay the 80 million (euros) that Madrid did to sign him. On to Pogba I wont be surprised if hes willing to wait a little for Madrid, it would be a dream come true for him especially that Zidane is there (for now). I genuinely hope we have that back up option ready and its not just that they thought of Matuidi.

@carvajal if Madrid is going for Gomes I would assume their chance to go after Pogba would be very thin or close to zero. Because Gomes is the United backup in their chase of Pogba.

The Pogba to Madrid ship has sailed on my opinion. No need to go for Gomes if you have Pogba, or the other way around.

It's either he stays or he goes to United or a third party grabs him at the very last minute (Bayern?).

I agree, despite the article I don't see Madrid among the candidates.
Florentino prefers to deal with Mendes and Valencia although I think that Zidane is not too excited about André Gomes.Anyway Madrid is acting in a very strange way this summer so I wouldn't rule out any option yet

If its that way I would rather we pull out of this one and sign Kroos for £60m or thereabouts. Help them fund their galactico signing whilst we get a player we are more in need of now and avoid the trouble Pogba and Raiola would cause when Madrid come calling in a couple of years.

Why not buy Pogba and when Real come for him sell him for £80m + Kronos in a few years time

Madrid are not in it. We will get our man. Dont worry people. This week shall be the week of pogba.

@carvajal Do you want Pogba as a Real Madrid fan?
After a couple of youtube videos I wanted but his euro was disappointing so I changed my mind but later I heard an international expert very known in Spain saying that he played spectacular games in Italy so now I don't know if we need him or not.I am quite ignorant about his career in Juve. In short, too expensive.I would wait for some new star. For that money I would buy Gomes+a CB+some player to rest Casemiro

Kronos as an 8 would help us dominate the midfield for sure. :p
Sure, with the God of war... We also need his brother Chronos to extend the Fergie time forever until we win the game :).

Still no news but I really wonder when Pogba's vacations end. I thought he was coming back yesterday so...

Forget this shite. It's not happening.
Time to move on.
If he wanted to play for us he would have signed or said something.

Why are some folks on here so desperate to be optimistic and to quickly explain away every reasonable doubt that the transfer is going to happen? What's the point? If it happens, great. If it doesn't, OK, we will move on.

For my money, there are many obstacles for the deal to succeed: Juventus want to keep Pogba and are in the CL whereas United are in Europa League, Real are probably still interested and if they manage to sell Hames and Morata, they will have the money, Pogba most probably would prefer to move to Real, etc. It doesn't make sense for Pogba to want a quick resolution. It would make much more sense for him to wait and see what happens with Real or to play in the CL for another season with Juve and see what happens next summer when there will be enough big offers again. Common sense says that the transfer won't happen any time soon and sometimes (or quite often) common sense trumps ITKs.

Preferring Madrid was less understandable back when we were challenging for the top honours and in the champions league, while Real had a revolving door of players and couldn't keep up with Barcelona for titles. Pricing them out is our only hope really.

We are turning into Spurs when they tried to sign the likes of Rivaldo - claiming they were after the best players in the world knowing full well it would never happen. If we spend all summer dicking around for Pogba and go into the new season with the same midfield as last season we will look like cretins.

Just because it hasn't been completed by now, doesn't mean it's off.

It's a world record transfer. It's not like you're sending an email with a yes/no and getting an immediate reply.

I think it's 50-50 on him staying/leaving.

You're crazy if you think Jose will allow that to happen, the man means business, the signings he's already made prove that.

Jose comments from his first press conference

"We made a nucleus of four priorities, four positions, to give a certain balance to the squad and a push of quality. As you know, especially the ones with more vision, I likes specialists and not so much the multi-functional players. I am very specific with my approach, so I need specialists for that... We decided four targets and until we have the fourth we will continue to work hard."

When we have the fourth we will breathe,” he said. “The market will be open. We will get the fourth before 31 August, and we will be stable but the market will be open.”

Jose has a well defined Plan. HE will chase pogba until he can't get him and then move on.

The self-flagellation from people in this thread is hilarious.:lol:

I think it's 50/50 simply because i have no idea what going on much like the majority or all the people on here depending on who you believe, but to say it's not happening because it not done yet doesn't make much sence to me as if that was the case then everyone's transfer business should be done by now. Deals take different lengths of time, it's already been mentioned that Zlatan's deal took weeks to sign and there was no club involved simply.

If we don't get him.. you can guarantee we will sign someone else vsry quickly and this whole story will be swept under the carpet.

We definitely have back up plans in place.

Have faith in the transfer gods. It will happen soon. Patience is a good virtue to have. I know your faith is shaken after the AS article but it is just a test of faith, gather your courage men, this week shall lead us to.....VICTORY.

Whether we sign Pogba or not is really up to the player and up to Juve. At the very least we could use our position as leverage to poach Kroos from Real so that they can get Pogba. They can keep Rodriguez too.
