Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

This saga is summing up everything that is wrong with modern football - and you can sense why Fergie began to dislike agents so much.

Unfortunately that's just the way it is, I hope we get the deal done.

Everyones got a body clock - you ask it to wake you up at a certain time and you'll wake up round the time. Works without fail. So wouldn't worry about it, just remember to ask to be woken just just before Pogba signs or rather confirmation.. :)

#calciomercatopremium @c_raimondi"the Commission of @MinoRaiola @paulpogba 20% is the transfer, about 22 million". @juventusfc

Madrid are burning bridges. Keep it up so he will never want to play for your club.

And in Spain they are actually trying to win votes.

Also god forbid that word goes around that the Galacticos were outgunned by some other club. Most of their merchandising prowess lie on the fact that they are the undisputed top dogs in football. Its like a Ferrari being beaten in a race by Toyota Yaris. It wont sound nice among those who spend ridiculous amount of money to own such flashy car

Bunch of bloody cry babies that lot.

God the amount of jimmies we are rustling with this deal is worth the cost alone.

They are taking this challenge of "kings of football" seriously. Shame we haven't got a paper that can counter with a "madrids fax machine is rubbish"
We could brief the papers to sling shit right back at Real Madrid, but we don't, because we're not run by a pathetic, petulant child like Perez.

The funny thing is this will happen again and again. Just imagine our commercial income when we start delivering the goods on the field again as well. We will likely be the first club to break the 1bn\year income. With 37% increase in income is the yearly normal during the barren years, imagine when success returns

£100m bids for everyone! And sour grapes everywhere!

Actually, for Madrid this is positive pr for their local fans. In our case, many fans would find it pathetic but such articles and papers actually appeal to many Madrid supporters

I'll be happy if we sign Pogba, I think he's a quality player, and has great potential. Most would agree on that, the only question mark is his price.

I'm wondering, as a big question regarding his 'value' is who else we could have got, how would you have felt about Alli instead at half the price? It's easy to make lazy comparisons between them due to them both being tall, rangey, black, young footballers, but I actually think they're very similar as footballers. Both are more about being able to stride beyond an opponent, and odd moments of magic rather than the intricate passing or always available nature of Iniesta or Modric.

So do you think Pogba offers significantly more than Alli? I can help but feel, as pleased as I'll be about Pogba, that we may have been able to tempt Alli and Spurs with a bid of £50-60m for him.
Alli is debatably better than Pogba was at his age, current Pogba is light years ahead of Alli and still has a higher ceiling, Pogba has potential to be a Balon d'Or winner.

Pogba is potentially the face of the club for the next decade. He could be our next captain, our next leader. Rooney will start to fade away in the next year or two leaving the gap for Pogba.

He is one of the most marketable athletes on the planet, one of the best players (will only get better) and he even speaks Mancunian. United have got to sign him as far as I'm concerned.

If anyone is still worried Madrid are about to jump in and steal the transfer, that Marca article seems to be a final white flag from them.

This has officially overtaken the Berbatov thread for the second place. Now we just need approx 6500 post/162 pages to overtake the Vidal thread as the number one. With the way this is dragging out/how long we often take before announcing the deals could we actually do it?

Post muppets! Post! After this one I only have one post left for today and I'm saving it till evening just in case Pogba signs today.

What is "wrong" with this? Why are we villifying the agent here again?
Yeah, I don't get it either. If I had the opportunity to make 20 million off this, I'd be doing everything I can to get it. He doesn't owe anything to anyone.

Not to mention that it seems he's making this whole thing happen on his own. Deserves to get paid.

Why are we still haggling over 10m? I know it's a lot of money, but if we keep haggling Madrid could swoop in at any moment. You know what Perez is like, he's a ticking time bomb when it comes to this kind of stuff.

However I have full confidence in the board of getting this deal done and in Ed Woodward. Just rather get it done sooner to stop the probability of Madrid swooping in.

by my tax calculations (with no idea how much National insurance bracket he would be in as I don't think he would be exempt):

This is based on the touted figure of €13M per year salary

Top rate tax: 45%

Earnings Summary Yearly Monthly
Gross Pay £10,881,669.00 £906,805.75 £209,262.87
Tax Free Allowances £0.00 £0.00 £0.00
Total Taxable £10,881,669.00 £906,805.75 £209,262.87
Tax Due £4,882,851.05 £406,904.25 £93,900.98
National Insurance £220,966.18 £18,413.85 £4,249.35
Total Deductions £5,103,817.23 £425,318.10 £98,150.33
Net Earnings £5,777,851.77 £481,487.65 £111,112.53
Employers NI £1,500,550.87 £125,045.91 £28,856.75
Net Change from 2015 £-19.00 £-1.58 £-0.37

Not sure if the players can set up a limited company etc to fiddle it :)

I thought he started to fade away long ago.

Manchester United is not a Toyota Yaris. More like a Range Rover.

Im using it as an example. Its not like for like.

Real Madrid had build their merchandising/sponsorship strategy on being able to attract the top dogs. Sponsors flock to them because most of the time, the new kid in the blog will leave the club they play with, just to join them. They are the Galacticos, the club who lured Beckham, Zidane, Ronaldo and co despite those players were playing with equally if not better clubs (in terms of squad quality at the time) and they did that, simply because they are Real Madrid.

United had been knocking them down lately, first with ADM, then with DDG and now with Pogba (hopefully). We're doing that despite we're in open crisis. That must hurt the Galacticos not only in terms of their pride but also in terms of their pockets. The Galacticos and Europe's champions being outgunned by the 5th best club in the EPL.....ahh the sponsors will start wondering what's wrong with Real and whether they should keep paying premium to keep sponsoring them

Maybe if we are haggling, it's because we know no one is gonna swoop in.

Does this mean deal done, or what Raiola's cut would be in a completed deal?

There are other tweets too. The basic gist is we want to pay 110m (euros), which then 20m goes to Raiola, so Juve get 90m. But Juve want us to pay 120m, so they get their 100m figure. I think the tweets are basically saying where we're at currently before the next round of talks.

This is brilliant:

Ah I see, so basically, no different to yesterday... Hopefully today will change all that. Hopefully. :(

The more I see how bitter RM are about this all the more I don't actually mind the price we are going to pay!

That must mean the deal is 110m euros then. Which is £92m? I thought they were holding out for £100m?

:lol:You're not!
I'm 32 pal. Galaga and Pacman were all I knew!

How the hell can you be the same age as me, know about Pacman and Galaga, and not know Donkey Kong?

He played for Spurs a few seasons ago and is now playing for Real Madrid, btw.

We need to ally ourselves up with Barca now that RM is acting the cnuts. I also dislike Barca and actually prefered RM to them, but now after the DDG saga and this I want to see RM burn.

Tbf, the Guardian and that Romanzo guy has been saying £92M for the last few days. Maybe the rest is add ons?
