Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

I suspect the player will dictate more where he wants to go rather than Juventus.
Zidane might be happy with what he has got, but there is absolutely no way he would not be interested in Pogba, and he would improve any team in the world (real included

23 pages of panic since i last visited this thread all because Barcelona signed Gomes and Jose didn't announce that we want Pogba and Pogba only- because when negotiating the biggest transfer of all time you declare to the club you are buying from that it's your only option? Calm down people. Nothing has changed .

I'd be happy with our business plus another midfielder who is not Pogba in all honesty- i am as vested in us getting him as much as you guys- it would be an astounding spoilt summer as a fan. If not though what we have bought already alongside someone who fits the profile as Mourinho has stated is fine by me.

Real Madrid paved the way 2 weeks ago for us , ok Di Marzio stated they made contact since, but i somehow doubt Juve would take less than what we are offering and at this point and its has been widely reported that

a) Madrid cannot afford that much and..
b) Zidane is happy with what he has plus Gomes was a replacement for James who is now staying.

I know we have a need for constant information especially when acquiring players- but sit back and revel in the fact that we have Jose as manager, Zlatan and Mkhitaryan with one more signing to come whoever that may be.

great post!

1. In regard to Gomes, MARCA say Madrid actually backed off because James went public with wanting to stay. People can say it's covering for a miss but the James article only came out a few days ago. Then on top of this, Marca have not linked Madrid to pogba after gomes joined barca. Thus i don't understand why anyone is linking gomes to barca as meaning real will now get pogba :wenger:

2. If for some far out reason we don't get pogba, Jose has reassured us with his options. Perfect way to handle things. Unlike LVG that seemingly hyped possible transfers, backed out of deal, and then signed no one.

3. Revel in Mkhi playing BVB off the park in a few hours! Woodward will try to get pogba, let's all enjoy a good game of football :)

If that was the case and he really didn't want to come here then it would be Madrid all the press are talking about now as him signing for, we would be nowhere near a deal. There is a reason we are at such a supposed advanced stage of negotiating (we can only go off what the press tell us).

If Madrid came in for say 80 million , do you thing Juve who are notorious penny pinchers would say 'yeah you know what sod that other 20 million , you can have him'.

Juventus can't resist 100M, with all due respect that's an offer you can refuse.

Pogba wants to come here (I'm assuming here, otherwise this won't be going to this stage)

Raiola won't be bothered whether it's Madrid or United, if I were him I'd prefer Pogba to move to United so that he can move again to Madrid in a few years

Madrid won't pay up

So? What's the fuse? The only possible of this breaking off is if Pogba doesn't want to come. If he wants to come and we have the cash it's on, the rest is just details and haggling. At the end of the day Juve won't want to lose 100M over saving 5-10M, we won't mind another 5-10M (we already paid 100M anyway), Raiola won't mind a few M less.

IMHO it's about saving face who's giving in first, while everyone involved is already horny for it to happened, Juve/Pog/Raiola wants the money, we want pogba. Just playing hard to get

Can people stop saying it's done? If it's done, why is there no announcement, well, I'll tell you why, it's because it's NOT done. Thiago & Sanches were supposed to be done, right? And Andre Gomes was "close" to Real Madrid too, what happened? People have legit reasons to not be confident about United closing a deal for a top target. And I never get invested in United and transfer sagas, I'll be happy if we sign Pogba, have always wanted him here, but, Real Madrid are very much in it, and if they put together a financial package to match what we're offering then things could get very interesting of course. Nothing is done until there's an official announcement.

Ok, of course you don't! A bit of a long winded comment by someone, who doesn't invest in United and transfer sagas?! :boring:

To be honest this has dragged on for a while now , I'd like it to be concluded quickly either one way or the other, most of the press are speculating as to what is happening. At least Jose is planning alternative targets if this falls through

It is amazing how people are so sure of what is exactly happening based on very little information.
This. All these rumours basically seem to lead back to the things Di Marzio has said and have turned into more and bigger stories. Snowball effect. Nothing concrete has been reported by the BBC for example.

Btw, if the stories are true, and Juventus are really refusing £92m+ in that way, they truly are despicable cnuts, and I hope we never do them any favours again.

This is not true. He never mentioned any targets and Woodward is the one who negotiates deals and if he fails or Glazers dont approve the deal then you cant blame the Manager

They have no obligation to sell to us to be fair! It's business. This is a cutthroat industry, no room for favours or sympathy. You pay up or you miss out.

Anyway I'm still confident. Look at every rival forum, they have no doubt we'll sign him. We've created some self-defeating sob story about Madrid swooping in last minute. The reality is, he's ours.

True, majority are going of from what the papers and the likes of that Di Marzio.

Me? I'm basing my optimism off the back of the chef, the barber, the friend (Antoine) and the little brother of the friend!

It's just trying not to be cocky until the old lady signs (Pun intended)

We've been left with our willies limping these last few years, trauma i tell you!

We fecked up signing lucas moura and hazard because we didn't want to pay large sum of agent fee.
Hope it doesn't repeat again.

I would like to see Pogba at United for the start of the season. But I'm fairly relaxed. Even without him. I expect Us to start the season with the best midfield we have had for some years. Pretty sure there will be a plan B, C, D and so on.

First. Raiola flying to Miami is a good sign. If the deal was off why would he leave Turin or Europe?

Secondly. Pogba still has an agreement with United. If he, at this stage of the deal, was interested in Real Madrid then Raiola and Perez would tell everybody under the sun about this new information. So at the moment you can relax. Madrid isn't on table.

Third. Juventus is playing a dangerous game. They want to re negotiate the deal they had with Raiola. Strictly legally that's not Uniteds concerns. That's a problem between Juve and the agent.

Fourt. In every negotiation both parties tries to negotiate details in to the last seconds before the deal is finalized. Especially a veteran dealer like Marotta. Nothing unusual. In this case I think Marotta wants United to pay Raiola's fee by upper their bid from €110 to 120m. Off course Woodward is so far ice cold about this proposal. He already reached an agreement about the fee, Raiola is Juves headache.

In order to save the deal I think Raiola want all three parties to share the burden by lowering their demands. That's why he's going to Miami to present this solution to his client. As soon as the deal is accepted he and Pogba needs to go thru all the details. This is probably Paul Pogbas most important deal in his whole life. Then face to face talks are expected. Raiola is a serious agent who cares for his clients.

Will the deal go thru? Yes! To much prestige involved. Juve wants the money. Pogba and Raiola knows this is golden opportunity to earn crazy money. United can't lose this deal, again. Way to much goodwill involved.

Relax all of you. Pogba will be a United player before end of August.!

I don't get invested in transfer sagas by worrying myself, or refreshing here, or twitter and things like that. You can check how frequently i have posted on this Pogba thread for example, don't make a fool of yourself.

I won't read too much about what Jose said in his press conference, he is just being diplomatic.
It isn't like he will say yes United really desperate for Pogba and will do and pay anything to get him, isn't he.

Also Jose as a good manager, it is sensible to have other alternatives beside Pogba, hence the rumor about Matuidi and Matic.
Considering so many covering this, I believe this will concluded very soon unless United decided Juve and Raiola requests are beyond them then we will look at the alternatives. Hopefully not.

Like I said the players dictate strongly where they go. And we dont know what is happening behind the scenes I agree.

What you think? Are Woody and Mourinho focused on Pogba, or got they a decent Plan B how to develop without him?

If it doesn't get concluded by Monday at the latest then it's over. I'd imagine that all parties don't want anything to hold a deal that's worth this much money, especially the people are getting paid.

Mourinho said we're chasing a couple of players and we'll sign one of them, so it's probably safe to say we have a back up in case Pogba doesn't end up coming.

What you think? Are Woody and Mourinho focused on Pogba, or got they a decent Plan B how to develop without him?

We can't rely on just Pogba. We are too big a club to be solely focus on Plan A and not having any Plan B or C. Team have to be ready way before the first match with or without Pogba.

Omg when will we learn, can't beleive we could get burnt here, again !!, I mean it was nailed on wasn't it???
Don't be worried about Madrid, I'm sure they're interested i Pogba, it's within their best interests to target the best players in the world, however, they're not going to get him. They've been priced out of this deal and I'm pretty sure after all the work Woody has done to make this happen he'd rather give Pogba £400k a week and his agent £50m than watch this deal slip through his fingers.

Everyone talking of these plan B's and C's, who? Matuidi and Matic are probably the only available midfielders left, Matic being probably difficult to buy. Not to add, neither of those players are a big improvement on what we have. Pogba is the only elite midfielder left available that can take us up a level. That's why I found Jose's quotes about being held ransom worrying.

Reading between the lines Jose gave Ed a list of 4 positions he wanted to fill giving 3 names for each position. For the first 3 Ed probably got the first choice on the list and the deals were done quickly.
For the 4th position, clearly Pogba is the first choice for that position, but Jose has no doubt given Ed two other names in the event that the Pogba deal cannot be finalised.
However, because this will be a world record deal and Raiola wanting to make the most of it plus Pogba being on holiday, it's not going to tied up in a few hours.
I do fully expect Pogba to sign for us but if something does go wrong there will be a second and third choice.

No worries

Plus those two really are nothing like Pogba at all, so aren't really comparable or real alternatives. I'm hoping Jose knows that seeing as so many on here don't seem to.

What would Pogba have to sign ?

Player putting his signature under everything is the last step of a transfer. That happens when everything is agreed and the player has passed his medical tests. I don't see why Raiola would need to fly to Miami for that, if it is for signing something, I'd say it is Pogba who would be flying to a United medical center to do his test and to meet up with United officials to sign everything.

No this feels like something new came up which Raiola had to discuss with Pogba in person instead of over the phone. A new offer from Madrid, all the financial details, promises the club made, housing and accomodation options, weighing it off to everything that was already agreed with United, that is something Raiola would want to do in person and not over the phone.

Yes that's fair enough.

We don't even know Raiola flew to Miami do we?

I just feel that's the only plausible reason.

Maybe whatever club he would sign for sent their doctor to have a medical there. I don't know.

I'm a bit lost.. Why would Juve pay Raiolas fee? Seems a bit strange they would pay him for the privelage of taking their best player away!

That's like me paying the bloke who just stole my wife!

Not his fee. He is entitled to a % of the fees received by juve.

I reckon Gomes might have been Plan B but we've missed out on him. Matuidi plan C? I hope this is not turning into another Fabregas where Woody dithers until we end up with Plan Z - Fellaini - or whoever his 2016 equivalent is.

Have to admit that i'm legit concerned about this happening. Its weird that Riaola is travelling to see Pogba I mean what is it that he couldnt tell him on the phone. Di Marzio did report some time again that Madrid came asking again for him so its not impossible that they decided to make a move. If United are hung up on agent fees then ffs just pay, the club is spending 100-120m and they're worried about 20m? Thats utterly stupid if true.
With that logic Raiola can continue to jack up the price to unlimited levels, by adding 20m to the price in every meeting. "You are already spending 150m, why are you worried about 20m?"

What you think? Are Woody and Mourinho focused on Pogba, or got they a decent Plan B how to develop without him?

They have a plan B and C. Missing out on Pogba would be a huge disappointment, however.

I read Jose's comments as posturing. It seems highly likely that there is an impasse on Raiola's cut and Juve want us to pay it. I'm sure that Jose comments were intended to say 'we will not be held to ransom', if you want to walk away from the deal and keep an unhappy player we have other targets'.

I do believe an agreement will be reached.

I'm a bit lost.. Why would Juve pay Raiolas fee? Seems a bit strange they would pay him for the privelage of taking their best player away!

That's like me paying the bloke who just stole my wife!

Juve enticed him into moving Pogba from United by giving him 20% of any future transfer fee, now they want us to pay that cut

They are playing hard ball.

Jose made a big thing about other targets. This worries me.

This is the most common thing that everyone says during negotiations. It would be more daft If he said "we individuated a player, and we will do everything to get him". It puts the ball in Juve and Raiola's court. If they drag it for too long, we will buy an alternative and that's it. I am sure with all the money Juve is spending this year, they are also interested in banking on Pogba.

I for one still believe this one is still happening,we still got one more week before the deadline, if its not today then still one good week to go.
Only possible chance of this deal getting break up is Madrid getting in the last minute to match whatever we had promised to Juventus plus the agent fee,
deal between us and Juventus may be at advance stage but still the player preference matters.
Raiola getting to Miami might be on asking player to forgo his image right on which we might be very much adamant as we spend close to 100M,still lot of hurdles before this deal to get completed.

If I had a second life, I'd come back as an arrogant self important agent. What an easy way to make money. Have just one world class player on your books and you're made for life!

I'm a bit lost.. Why would Juve pay Raiolas fee? Seems a bit strange they would pay him for the privelage of taking their best player away!

That's like me paying the bloke who just stole my wife!
He gets a % of whatever Pogba is sold for and we want to pay X amount which would be 80% to Juve and 20% Raiola.

So for argument sake we want to pay 100m € with Juve getting 80 and Raiola 20. Juve wants the full 100 and us to pay Raiola the extra which would mean we pay 120m €
