Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

It looked like a sure thing a few days ago now I'm not so sure. :nervous: Seems like they're trying to price us out of the deal, if we accept they get a ridiculous sum that probably wont be beat in a life time, and if we refuse they get to keep a outstanding young player who's value will keep on rising.

I'm starting to wonder who our fallback options are, we shouldn't let this drag out too long.

Polish press is reporting that Sky Italia are now reporting that Juventus have rejected our offer for Pogba. Since its Polish press i have no idea how old the news is.
From what i can gather, people are saying that Juventus have rejected our offer because of what Di Marzio said about Juventus wanting more money.

Problem is we do need someone don't we? The last few years have proven that beyond doubt and we simply cannot go into next season with the squad as it is right now. Mourinho is a great manager but not a miracle worker. I think even the most ardent and optimistic United fan would not disagree with that - unless your name is Twigginator of course.

The question therefore is, if not Pogba then who? Which player of genuine quality could we sign that would make a real difference and just as importantly is that player available? And please no one say Matuidi.

My 2 cents were on James but after him coming out and saying I want to stay in Madrid and all that blabla and Madrid looking like trying to keep their squad together and everything, it seems unlikley he'd be the alternative.

Surely Woodward won't allow himself to look foolish yet again, being unable to land a big target. He's already the laughing stock amongst CEO's of major clubs.

Is he? Have you got anything to base this assertion on or is it just an assessment of your own?

Ill be honest, if Real nip in and nick him for what Juve are asking, so be it. We're super rich but we need to set a precedent.

I'm out now, way too much like previous sagas for me.

Couldn't care less if it didn't happen now either, it has become a saga. Wish we had quickly and quietly signed Gomes and another CB instead.

What do you mean, it should be spelled amortisation ?

Amortization is correct spelling aswell, one is american enlgish, the other is british english

Nah, I'm talking about the accounting tool, did you read it in that post?

They really haven't

Pjaca was €23m
Pjanic was €32m
Benatia was €3m loan with €17m option to buy him at the end of the loan
Dani Alves was a free transfer

And they sold Moratta to Madrid for €30m

So they have basically net spend €28m so far

In terms of wages Alves is prob on a big one and Benatia and Pjanic will also earn a decent wage but they have lost the wage of Cuadrado and Moratta so all in all not much difference there.

I don't think Juve would spend €94m without selling Pogba but it is not true they have spend an awfull lot. In fact they are a very economical club and their books are usually in order. At the end of the summer they will probably have earned more money than they have spend.

The thing actually is, I do think it is possible but very unlikley Juve might actually be able to afford Higuain without selling Pogba. They never spend much and every season they get money from CL money and winning the serie A, so it is not unlikley they might have build up some reserve cash. If they would sell some further players like Zaza (20m), Manzukic(20m), Pereya(18m) who all still look like leaving, they might actually be able to afford it without selling Pogba. But must say I think it is unlikley because it feels very unlike Juve.
If all of this happens, it would be Juve having a net spend of 60-70m euros, which they probably can afford (assuming that next season they won't sign many players). However, I don't think that it will be very healthy for them considering that they wage bill was already big as ratio of their revenue, and now with the signing of Higuain and Alves (and co) will be even higher. Add to that, they might need to rebuild their defense. So, I think that they will likely sell Pogba now, but there is some chance that they will make a last attempt in UCL with him, and then next season cover their financial losses by selling him and probably Dybala if needed.

Or FIAT pumping some extra cash in the team to cover their expenses, but that is more unlikely.

Precedent that we won't be fecked over just because we are loaded? If yes, then I agree.

No worries Jose, it's a done deal.

Will he have some sort of interview conducted by MUTV in China? Maybe we'll know more if there is one. I remember couple of years ago he did one in America where he said 'Watch this space'

I'm at a party and there is a dude with a Juventus shirt on, never seen a Juve fan in jamaica, Is this a bad omen :nervous:

This is what I mean with my own question. As in we have our limits with how much we are willing to spend but not to the point that we're willing to be ripped off or simply have the piss taken out out of us.

Surely Woodward won't allow himself to look foolish yet again, being unable to land a big target. He's already the laughing stock amongst CEO's of major clubs.

For what exactly? The man has done his job. You can't possibly expect every transfer to materialize.

That is what I mean,

I think financially they can afford it, all things considered but it would be an unhealthy financial situation. Very unlike Juve to put themselves into an unhealthy financial situation, so very unlikley.

Precedent as in our limits?

Precedent that we won't be fecked over just because we are loaded? If yes, then I agree.

Yep. We have a valuation on a player and we won't go above that. There's no doubt whatsoever that Juve want this €100m+. He's a midfielder and replaceable. In future if a club knows we will pull out and they'll miss out on that huge pay day, they'll think twice about taking the piss.

Everyone that has some knowledge on football in this world knows that we've been linked to him and that Woodward wasn't on the flight over there with the team. So if the deal was off, what would be bad to go out to the media and say that the deal was off. Not blaming this or that, just tell that we just couldn't agree on all things...

If the deal was off, it would be known sooner or later, so why not let everyone know?

No worries Jose, it's a done deal.

If it was done, then it would have been done by last night, as it takes a fair few hours to fly to China from Italy/England. But didn't Di Marzio give an update this morning that a fee wasn't agreed?
