David Moyes | West Ham in talks with him for managerial job

Think he'll have to succeed there if he wants to continue as a premier league manager! He said when he left us he was waiting for a champions league club (the bloody cheek of it) and he ended up waiting a long time to take a club in Spain that was hoping for a CL spot.

Now he's pretty much gone to the lowest club in the premier league he could have gone to, if he fails now he's down into the championship or to Scotland.

Jesus 4 year contract!! Another big pay day for Moysie in the next year or two then.

Hope he gets relegated (doubt he will though), last chance for him this job if he gets sacked he'll finally be on the managerial scrapheap along with Curbishley, Graham, Roeder, O'Leary etc.

Poor bastards don't know what they're in for next season. Before long they'll be sick of the sight of the miserable fecker.

Disagree. They are not expecting to win the title or qualify for the CL are Sunderland. They've been struggling with relegation for the last few years. They need someone who who will stabilize the ship, make them hard to beat. That's right up Moyesie's alley, I reckon. It's a job without the pressures of a big club, nobody is expecting a swashbuckling style of play. He'll be off the radar (mostly), will be given the time to make them solid and hard to beat. I think he'll do well there. I'd wager on a mid table finish within the next 2 years.

Hope he does well. He really is an underrated manager on here. He wasn't cut to be United/similar level but for a top ten premier league team he is actually very good.

To think we actually had him as a manager - un fecking believable.

Glad he finally found his level. Now he can wear his tracksuit all he wants  Joke of a manager.

It does sound crazy when you think about. Clearly, no logic was used when he was hired.
When he arrived at MUFC, he was basically like a deer in headlights. Or like a lamb, wondering around a slaughter house, looking to speak to one of the abattoirs, to find out what to do next.

Here's a question: why was Moyes not considered for the Everton job? I mean, he did a great job for them before and there is no reason to believe he would not continue doing a good job for them in a 2nd spell?

He took us to 7th place. Is that not top 10?

Lol sometimes people take football too seriously
They actually hate Moyes that much:rolleyes:

If he employs the same system he works with at everton and us he will fail

He cant adapt and only knew one system, that system IMO won't work with sunderland quality.

Great managers adapts according to what they have. Moyes has the luxury of years building that everton team to do his system. He wont have them anywhere else.

With?

Aye. I can't stand Moyes. I am glad that he is back at his level after the whole 'I want Champions League, I'm proud of my Champions League record with United' after he was sacked by United for sinking the club!

And lets remember it was him that got us to that QF according to Moyes anyway. When things went bad he took 'responsibility' for the players (nudge, nudge, wink, wink), but when the odd thing went even slightly right it was all him.

If he ends up Scotland then his hopes of managing at championship level are in th shittr as well.

It's like Brendan, he is done, if he fails at Celtic we won't hear from him again.

Sunderland has a good coach in their hand now, probably will finish mid table comfortably.

Hope he does well at Sunderland. Lower expectations might actually help him and he can bring some stability and mid table run for the club. After a long time, he could have the club, fans and players all pulling in the same direction instead of being a marmite.

You know what you'll get with Moyes and achieving 15th place - and safety - is perfectly attainable for him at Sunderland. It's his comfort zone and their budget will be the market whereby he works best.

A limited appointment but one that looks a near perfect marriage.

I meant, disagree with your opinion that sunderland fans are in for a disapointment with Moyes.

Ok i see, but i didn't say they will be sick of the sight of him because things will be shit on the pitch i already said i doubt he will get them relegated. Most likely he will steer them to the Moyes zone of comfortable mid-table limbo soon enough.

No they will grow tired of him because he's a dour miserable fecker with all the charisma of a rotten turnip.

I hate this sort of vile abuse thrown at a honest decent manager who was a proven good manager before being tempted ( and who would honestly have turned it down ? ) to take on the impossible job of being the man who followed the most successful manager in the history of football .
Remember our dealings in that 1st transfer window were an absolute disaster mainly due to the inexperience of our new chief exec who promised us Bale and Thiago and delivered Fellaini at 10 million over his buy out price .
Moyes inherited a team that was literally on its last legs and was then let down re transfers and the bad attitude of the likes of RVP .
Granted he made mistakes , but in my view did a far better job than LVG who was indulged by the board beyond reason .
Was the United job to big for him ? Probably but get off his back . I for 1 hope he has great success at Sunderland and is given respect by the United fans when he returns here with his team .

That's true enough, though he does have that excuse of going back 'home' same as Rodgers, and I doubt Rodgers will be there for long, could see Moyes at Celtic after B-Rod.

Decent hard working chap blah, blah, blah bollocks. He's a prick.

Remember our dealings in that 1st transfer window were an absolute disaster mainly due to the inexperience of our new chief exec who promised us Bale and Thiago and delivered Fellaini at 10 million over his buy out price .

I remember it well it was mostly Moyes fault, 6 week holiday when he should have been working on targets. Rocks up on July 1st scraps any potential deals we had lined up and asks Woodward to sign Fabregas, Ronaldo and Bale. Then dithers for 6-7 weeks on other targets. Purposely decides not to sign Fellaini earlier when his release clause was lower because he didn't want Fellaini to have to deal with the pressure of being his first signing. You can check that last bit out yourself, theres quotes flying around from Moyes himself.

Moyes inherited a team that was literally on its last legs and was then let down re transfers and the bad attitude of the likes of RVP .

He inherited a team that had amassed 89 points the two previous seasons, won two out of three titles, and hadn't been out of the top 2 in the league for almost a decade. Fourth shouldn't have been too hard even for him and yet he conspired through his own sheer incompetency to drag us down to 7th.

Granted he made mistakes , but in my view did a far better job than LVG who was indulged by the board beyond reason .

 Understatement of the century, far better than a man who cleaned up his mess got us in the CL and won the cup? You are a wum mate, this is the perfect example of why there is a newbie system on here. You have sailed under it's radar.

Was the United job to big for him ? Probably but get off his back . I for 1 hope he has great success at Sunderland and is given respect by the United fans when he returns here with his team .

No i'll stay on it thanks, i hope he gets relegated, sacked and fades into managerial obscurity never to be heard from again in that order. Haven't seen the fixtures yet but it would be delightful if it was United that sent them down.

He done a far better job than LVG? Are you having a laugh, what a mess of a post. Moyes took a team over that won the league by 11 points to 7th in one season. Getting smashed by Liverpool and City at old Trafford, breaking all type of records for all the wrong reasons. He put the club back and the job was way over his head. Ridiculous press conference's with quotes about aspiring to be like City, giving Rooney a ludicrous contract where we can't even get rid of him now. Zero play style and embarrassment after embarrassment result wise. Then got big compensation after his contract was terminated for being an absolute failure.

LVG boring and negative but still won us an FA cup, clearly an improvement. We had a good record against the top 6,United were rarely beat more than 2 goals under his reign. I'm glad he's gone because it was boring and uninspiring but he was better than Moyes. He also brought loads of youth through Rashford, Borthwick Jackson and Mensah ect. Moyes was a joke and deserves ridicule. I hate Sunderland and hope they finally get the drop this year, been lucky the last few years. Sacking managers constantly, and surviving just about every year. Moyes shouldn't be booed when he returns to old Trafford, he also should not be applauded. You can't blame fans for having no respect for him here. I'm not saying he should be called nasty names but respect? No chance, again a ridiculous post.

Send Januzaj on loan to him. Then he can relegate Sunderland while making Adnan good again in the same process.

I love this rubbish about Moyes being an 'honest hardworking manger' etc. What exactly makes him so honest and hardworking? To me, he comes across extremely annoying and smug. In fact, I had to stop watching his pressers only a-few months into his reign as he came across deluded and aggravating.

He will do well there. I expect them to become a solid mid table club.

One thing that always disappoints when it comes to Moyes is his teams performances vs the big boys - every big game he had for Everton and ourselves was a disaster. So I fully expect him to lose both games vs United. But he will make solid signings and keep things simple - he's a simple man - and that's good enough.

Nothing quite like a debate on Moyes to get the blood boiling !!

So Woodwardd gets none of the blame for the failures in the transfer market ? Don't be so blinkered

Inherited a team that had amassed 89 points blah blah blah ... EVERYONE acknowledged that the team was in need of a massive rebuild and that we only won it because City and the others hadn't quite caught up to us .

A Man who cleaned up his Mess !!!!!!!! A man who spent 250 million on absolute dross put together the worst United Squad in living memory , played the worst football ever seen at Old Trafford , a man who sold the like of Hernandez , Nani , Raphael for absolute PEANUTS and spent 10's of millions on the likes of Rojo , Darmian and Schweinsteiger etc who Mourinho is now frantically trying to unload .
We scraped 4 th place after a 250 m spend , made a complete ass of ourselves in the champ lge and couldn't even finish 4 th last year when Chelsea imploded .

You my friend are a blinkered fool and the Newbie comment was a cheap shot grow up

Yup, the squad definitely needed investment and that was Moyes' job to do just that. So what did he do? He signed Fellaini. Not only did he sign Fellaini, but he had no clue how to use him which was even more bizarre.

Saying the squad needed investment is very true but taking a championship winning team and taking them to 7th in the space of a season is unforgivable and no matter what investment was needed, Moyes was a massive failure.

Don't make me laugh about LVG bringing loads of youth through , You know , I know EVERYONE knows that the only reason he gave youth a chance was because he bought so badly in the transfer market and created a squad that had no real depth in terms of cover that he had no option but to throw the kids in the fact that Rashford worked out was not the planning of a mastermind manager but more the last throw of a dice .

Don't show respect to an ex United manager ... My you really are a class act

This is a mess of a post, vile abuses? You have no idea what the description of vile abuse is my friend, the fact that he didn't got booed out of OT is a massive kudos to the match going fans.

Literally on his last leg? Mate our 2013 team wasn't exactly Barcelona, but you go the whole length claiming the team that won the EPL the previous season on their last leg, blaming the attitude of the very man that won us the title almost single handedly (RVP), and you're still talking about class act? Well that's an irony.

So in essence you vilified Ed, the team, Rvp, Lvg, and calling the fans classless while defending Moyes?

I give in .. In my opinion and certainly at the time widely reported in the press and on the forums Fergies last team was on its way down illustrated by the fact that we even had to bring Scholesy out of retirement as the midfield was so weak .
RVP had a great season for Fergie and saved the day but anyone that doesn't acknowledge that his heart wasn't in it ( and for 200k a weak maybe his heart should have been in it ! ) for the time pos Fergie is viewing him through rose tinted glasses

Sunderland boss hoping to sign Adnan Januzaj and Will Keane

DAVID MOYES is hoping to launch his Sunderland reign with a double swoop on his former club, Manchester United, to sign Adnan Januzaj and Will Keane.

[... stuff about moyes...]

His formal unveiling has been postponed until the Black Cats complete their French trip, which will feature matches against Stade Nyonnais, Dijon FCO and Montpellier, and by the time he is presented to the press, he will hope to have new signings to discuss.

Januzaj and Keane are currently at the top of his wanted list, with the Scotsman having worked with both players during his unsuccessful stint at Old Trafford.

Januzaj played in Manchester United’s friendly defeat to Borussia Dortmund at the weekend, but the 21-year-old, who has started just two Premier League games since February 2015, does not appear to have much of a future under Jose Mourinho.

He was demoted from his previous squad number last week, with Mourinho seemingly sharing Louis van Gaal’s view that the Belgian has lapsed markedly since he broke onto the scene in such spectacular fashion in the 2013-14 season.

Moyes was Januzaj’s manager back then, and the new Sunderland boss successfully argued that the midfielder should be granted a new five-year deal worth around £60,000-a-week.

That highlights just how highly he rated him, and while he has inherited a Sunderland squad with a number of effective wide players, Januzaj’s ability to also play infield as a ‘number ten’ could make him a useful asset.

Sunderland will initially raise the possibility of a season-long loan deal, although they would also be willing to consider a permanent transfer if Manchester United were to be realistic in their valuation of the youngster.

Keane is expected to leave Old Trafford on a permanent basis this summer, having spent the majority of last season on loan at Championship side Preston.

The 23-year-old, who can play as an attacking midfielder or a centre-forward, is available for around £6.5m, with Stoke City having already made an approach.

Moyes is expected to confirm his own interest within the next 24 hours, and Keane’s desire to leave Manchester United in order to improve his chances of regular first-team football could prove crucial in any talks.

One more point ... Vilified Ed !!!

He's Ed now ......look back on the posts at that time not many were supporting good old Ed in those days !!

Granted he may have been fortunate with some of the youth players coming in and succeeding like Rashford. However, it's just daft to suggest it was luck. He had a smaller squad last year to give some of the younger player's a chance. Jesse, Rashford, Borthwick Jackson, Fosu Mensah getting a shot was not a coincidence. We had senior players dropped in favour of these lads at a time.

I find it funny how you are annoyed at people making poor comments towards Moyes, yet your happy to say I have no class? You should spend less time making comments to people in here and more on making a sound argument and response.

Very few were saying we needed a massive rebuild, thats revisionism. Most agreed we needed some new blood. 3-4 good players were needed to replace some of the older players, he only signed Fellaini.

A Man who cleaned up his Mess !!!!!!!! Pure nonsense we didn't spend £250m in Van Gaals' first season.

The cheek on you talking about how other people should be classy and you are throwing insults around.

Sunderland are lucky that some teams have even shittier squads.

Their first team is absolutely atrocious compared to what Moyes had previously.

Hard working Moyes who didn't bother to learn Spanish.

Hard working Moyes who didn't bother to learn Spanish.

Eh how long was he in Spain? Also there is a difference between becoming fluent in a language and being able to use it a bit - some folk just aren't great at learning a language. To try and use that as an example of him not working hard is harsh in the extreme.
